- You may not like the wrinkles on your face, your lack of energy, eyesight or hearing, but it is the very best antidote to clinging to this world and is preparing us to more easily let go of this finite world. One day closer to heaven!
Getting old is a privilege that NOT everyone has. Thank you God for our age. God bless you all🙏🙏
Aging is humbling which I'm trying to embrace. I'll be 65 in January and where one chapter closes in my life another opens. My relationship with Jesus is the best it's ever been. I'm looking for whatever more Jesus has for me. I agree with you Christine, we're getting closer to Heaven. ❤
My wonderful mom is 99 and really struggling now. We are blessed that she lives at home with my brother and still performs her activities of daily living, but she's lost her appetite and feels depressed. Still I thank God every day that she's here with us.
Christine, Thank you very much for this, I turned 62 this year and I am not super happy about it! I just realized that 2/3 of my life is over . And like summer passing all to quickly, so is my life , time to get much more serious about giving my life totally to God ! So thank you very much for addressing this most important issue old age. ❤
I am pushing 58 myself. My dad died last year at 84 from dementia. I miss him terribly. My sister and I still take care of my mom. Your talk echoes my thoughts exactly. I would never want to be young again. I look forward to being with the Lord, but try to be patient, as I know in my bones He has more work for me to do on this side of the veil. I live this way. God only gave us so many days and we should live them as a gift.
I am almost 62.
What I look like is of little importance.
What I think and do is all that I have and I share that with all my energy.
I do not limit myself here on our farm but It is important to also use the wisdom that I have learned.
A lovely expression is "A man has to know his limitations". For me those limitations allow me to share with my family and friends.
I am still living the adventure of a beautiful life here in Chile. Jim
I have 9 grandchildren, one of the youngers said, Baba you are fat! LOL, HIS aunt scolded him, but I too said no, he didn't say it out of meanness, and it's the truth. I have gained 58lbs since a car accidnt in 2016. I can no longer power walk(I'm 67 my running days were over several years ago) on the towpath, but I know what I CAN do, I'm just not doing it.
Jesus and Mama Mary, please give me the grace to do what you know I need to do, that I'm not already doing! All for God's Glory!
I’m 60 but aged 10 years taking care of my mother for two years who was mentally ill, but so grateful to have the chance to serve her! Thank you for this hopeful and encouraging post. I love the time I have to pray now! And I’m grateful to experience His truly unconditional love!!
I’m convinced that getting old is God’s way of making sure we don’t want to live forever. 😂

We age because we are sinners. Holy Mary was only one that never got old because old age had no right to touch her as She is simply the Immaculate Heart. ☘️💚
I am in the process of reversing my age, mentally, and physically and I have shut down the damn aging process.
Who the hell wants to go through horrific aging with a wrinkly body and dementia. I would rather die than go through that type of ordeal.
My nephew, when he was very young, went into his grandpa’s bedroom where grandpa had just woken. Little one looked at him and said “Grandpa, your eyes are all red and your teeth are yellow. You look like a monster!”
You're right about moving slow mo nowadays and fishing for words once in awhile.

When you aged 70 years old, suddenly the Monster comes to take over your health causing UTI AND YEAST INFECTION, not one time but continue week after week, in bed for 3 months. muscle cramp on thighs, the monster does not tell you when arriving, 2 pm, 7 am, midnight, or 2 am. If I don't take antibiotics, daily the monster arrived same as do.❤

I'm nearly 56 and still have a 15 year old ! And a nearly 21. They keep me young.
You are privileged that you have time to exercise. In my 60's working full time, I had to make the decision to give up exercise for prayer time. There is no one to do my chores and errands for me. But I am keenly aware of the effect on my health. Sometimes us working class people tire of the complaints of the privileged.
@ghostlyimageoffear6210 Well, while I understand YOUR struggles, don't make too many assumptions about others. I, too, work full time AND am working class. I live paycheck to paycheck. Keep that in mind before you judge me or others. I go to daily mass because it's the best thing for my spiritual health. I exercise because it's the best thing for my physical health and since my body (and yours) is a temple of the Holy Spirit, I, AND YOU, will have to make an account of how I care for that body. I will make no excuses that I don't have the same 24 hours that you or anyone else has. It's hard, and I don't always want to do it, but i force myself-- so I'll be a better asset for the Kingdom when all the crazy begins to happen. I'm up at 0500 to go to 0600 mass and after mass, exercise, and my shower I then work until 7:00 p.m. In between, I CHOOSE to do those things which are priorities to me like prayer and time with my grandchildren. So yes, while I am blessed, so are you. We BOTH have 24 hours in our day and CHOOSE to fill those hours differently. So don't judge me or anyone else. You will have to answer to God for that.
I'm 67 semi retired nurse, I have suffered a lot of depression and insomnia through life and to add to my woes severe hair loss.
I had a mesh put ( in my hair) very recently, i thought this would have solved my hair woes but i find the mesh uncomfortable and like an alien on my head, your right Christine sucks!
The worst thing about getting old is getting old!

Why does it matter? Getting old? The gifts having family around you. A roof over your head. Why not stop pondering so much, and stay busy with our thoughts by finding ways to give. Vanity is never good.
@tcup8112 maybe it doesn't matter. Maybe it does. But it affects everyone, and not everyone has a roof over their head or family around them.
