Not changed any setting within the TV. For the older LG model LG 22MT44D in the Vlog I just connected the 12v direct to the back of the TV. For the Smart LG model LG 24TN520S I bought a 12v - 19V DC - DC converter, I had to get a larger 5A one as the smart part of the TV pulls a lot more power. Link here for this converter www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184360001587
Only if you know what you are doing. Anything over 24" TV will probably require more voltage than 19v so removing the back you may find it can run on 33V, but this is a gamble as large TV's are very power hungry with the lighting and this can be running on higher voltages. I have only done this on the TV's with the 19V power packs same as laptops
Hello just got a Samsung t22e390ew tv ( 14v - 2.5A) will this run directly with the cigarette lighter conversion or will I need an Converter Regulator ? subscribed thanks for ur great work
I would say it will run direct off the battery. Unusual voltage and with 2.5A might want to look at a better connection that cigarette lighter as this will get hot. Remember a fuse online and if it keeps turning off then look on ebay for 14v converter. Also double check cable polarity before connecting to battery

Hi I jusst bought the LG 22TN410V The adapter supplied reads "Output 19V 1.7A 32.3 W" I cant find a converter with those exact specs. Will a higher wattage one like a 5 watt do any damage?
Yes thats ok. The higher wattage will be better for the TV to run the smart processing. We have a 5A 95 W converter. The higher amps/watts will not do any damage only high voltage will be a problem so as long as it's 19v you will be fine. I should have a new Vlog this week showing what I have connected up
@@BrackstonesTravelAdventures Thanks for the reply. What size cable did you use from the fuse box to the converter and what size fuse would you recommend?
The box on that cable contains a Switched-Mode Power Supply (SMPS). The first component of an SMPS is a rectifier. The rectifier’s roll is to convert AC to DC. Other components after the rectifier “massage” the power to the required VA for the device. If you send VDC down the rectifier instead of VAC, the entire device will begin heating up at a rate determined by Jen’s Law, and destroy the Earth. Or it will actually do nothing. I have a difficult time remembering which since I just made up Jen’s Law, and haven’t yet assigned it any properties. So based on the assumption that Jen’s Law will turn out to be garbage, and knowing there are no other scientific reasons to think otherwise, it’s probably safe to cross our fingers and believe that the low voltage DC will pass through the rectifier and be “massaged” just the same as DC power that passed through the rectifier which so recently possessed enough AC-like properties to be called AC power.
Have you checked all the connection for any loose one. someone had similar a year ago. Also if you have a meater can you check the voltage coming out the converter. Another thing to check that the polarity is the same as the original TV supply.
another thing the 3 amp converter may not be powerfull enough to turn on a 24" TV. Does the red light come on but no screen powering up. If no connection issues you may need a 5A converter. If you put a voltmeter on the converter output whist connected to the TV you may see the voltage drop off as you turn in the TV indicating the converter is not power full enough
@@BrackstonesTravelAdventuresThaks for replies..checked connections and they're OK swapped converters also as I bought 2. Light on tv doesn't come on at all. Power from supply is OK, I don't have a tester. Do you think I need a 5A 95w?

Hi. Yes current is a big issue with keeping displays on. If your wiring is really small and your pulling a lot of current through the cigarette lighter plug then the voltage drop will be high and cause your screen to turn off. Why are you using a computer monitor can this show normal TV. And what is the power wattage of the monitor. I assume it can run on 12v or are you using a converter to 19v
@@BrackstonesTravelAdventures hello thanks for response sir. I'm using a pc monitor because it's what I found at goodwill for 10$ that was DC . And it works great for DVD or xbox but true no TV reception. It's ok though because I go weekends in backcountry Ontario canada and dont need reception. The wire from the cigarette lighter plug (also goodwill, 2$) has very thin wiring but it's for 12v . And the monitor only pulls 50watts.. I will run thicker wire for plug and do some multi meter testing and see what's up. Be cause I think it's a great idea if I can just get it working. The monitor is LCD and is 20 inch so I would love to get it working without using my inverter and wasting those precious amp hours.😀 and yes the moon itor is for 12 volts, as I use a 12 v wall pack to power it, and it's written on the back
So it's pulling just over 4 amps. If it's a 12v monitor then it should work with no issues. If it's a 19v and your using a converter then you will need one rated a lot higher than 50 watts. I would look at an 8 amp converter. See what happens when you upgrade the cables. Good luck
Hi I tried the link for the converter in your description but it is no longer found, you say to use a 5a converter but after looking at the numbers on the converter you show in the video it is clearly a 3a converter, so I guess you used a different converter than the one in the video? also I wanted to ask how good the EPG on Freesat is on the 24TN520S I already have a 19" Avtex TV in the motorhome but the EPG is useless on satellite and only good on Freeview.
If you go ebay search 5a 19v converter. This is about 95w converter on the output. I have tried the smaller 2a ones which work ok on none smart tvs but with the smart processors you need more power. The 5a 90+ watt ones work great been using over a year with no issues

When you said; ive managed to lower the power of the Tv do you mean in the settings. Or just by making up a 12v lead and using that.?
Not changed any setting within the TV. For the older LG model LG 22MT44D in the Vlog I just connected the 12v direct to the back of the TV. For the Smart LG model LG 24TN520S I bought a 12v - 19V DC - DC converter, I had to get a larger 5A one as the smart part of the TV pulls a lot more power. Link here for this converter www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184360001587
Could you fit a larger TV and run off battery ?
@@BrackstonesTravelAdventures Samsung t22e390ew tv --- Fused and working great off of 12v
@@Drezzic Thats great another one to add to the list. Is this a Smart TV and does it run all ok running on-demand TV
@@BrackstonesTravelAdventures No just found out it dont work with "dvbt2 - Freeview " not smart but i have a firestick and 5g in my van.. plus you can plug a hard drive or usb.. will look for a better option in the 2nd hand shops.. will do for now.. I'll keep you posted.
@@Drezzic this will be same as my LG TV. Not smart these work OK direct on the battery. Its when it's a smart TV that you need the dc converter as they use more power. You should be fine with a firstick. Glad it's working lot cheaper than a Avtec tv
My TV supply was fitted by dealer to the cupboard, would be about 1.5mm flex for length. From there to the TV I used 1mm flex very short run.
Hi, just tried with LG 24TQ510S-PZ 24 Smart tv with the same xw 12-19-57w 3amp set up in video... It doesn't work🤔
Have you checked all the connection for any loose one. someone had similar a year ago.
Its possible, When I did my TV the smaller 3A converters would not power them up or would try to turn on then shut down again. Most larger TV with smart systems use a lot more power
@@BrackstonesTravelAdventures OK will give it a go and post result
So can I buy a 32" smart TV and do the same conversion? If yes, you've just saved me from buying the Avtec one for 500 quid 😅
Ive never done a 32" tv it will only work n TV's with a 19V power supply into it, I have herd that some TV's at 32" have this but I have not seen one myself. Someone has just done a 32" monitor which if this has a HDMI input this can then take a Amazon firestick
@@BrackstonesTravelAdventures OK I will try and source one that's 19v
@@xtrax38Sony w830k is 32” 720p and takes 19.5v input. You might need to test what voltage ranges it would work with but I’ve seen 12v to 19.5 DC to DC converters, otherwise I’m assuming 19v would work also.
hello i tried to do this with a hp monitor that runs on 12v dc ( with a wall pack) but when hooked up to my camper battery ( between 13.3 and 12.3v) it just shuts off and on and isnt stable, i figured because it wasnt a stable 12 v dc.... but after afew youtube vids im thinking maybe its my wiring job or the cigarette lighter plug im using... ill have to try again... because now its 12 v dc converted to 120 v ac then back to 12 v dc seems like a bad idea :)

I can’t understand his English.
Its basically getting a 24v LG Smart tv and running it on a DC to DC 12v to 19V converter which you can get on ebay
