DRX really changed the landscape of the game after their run. People now can hope more for their team even if they are not contenders, and players are now more confident that they have a chance against anybody.
Exactly what i thought. you could see change even in playins, minor regions are actually putting a good show instead of being a fodder like they've always been known for. It's the DRX effect.
The problem is, WBG is not the DRX in this Finals, they have 3 Players that have more International success than the current T1, Faker is the one with the huge trophy case.

It was Bang who shouldered the pressure of dealing damage since Faker picked Zilean at that game (BTW I think that's an amazing pick and solution to defeat ROX Tiger). It was clear that Faker completely trusted Bang so that he could pick this champion. Uzi, Ruler, Deft, and other great ADC were all defeated by Bang. Especially for Uzi, who was famous for his technique in the laning phase. In China, they give Bang a nickname 打狗Bang (棒), which means he is the weapon or rival that always defeat Uzi (Uzi's nickname is 小狗). Doesn't that explain anything? Bang even won the most MVPs in LCK when he was in SKT with those great teammates (I think I don’t have to mention who they are). He is the model of ADC, seldom making mistakes. In my opinion, he definitely deserves more respect, and he is the best ADC ever.

I am not saying that accolades are everything, but three world championships are too many to ignore. Bengi is unlike Canyon, who seems to be so powerful and dominant in a game, but he influence a game in another way, which eventually helps SKT to win, and I value that. Beryl is also a player that should be mentioned, but I don't know why they didn't give him the respect that he deserved.

Give me a 3-0 T1 they deserve it. Despite the Meta at start THEY formed a new one mid worlds. Guma and Keria played out of their minds, played the most different champs, they even bought Jhin. Zeus played 3x Aatrox then countered his Pick with an insane Yone performance. And Faker did Faker things. Oner outstanding (outside of Maokai) the amount of times he stole objectives or his engages. They just deserve it.
Beryl definitely the best support, I think he innovates the play style that early roaming to mid, take some minions so he can get to lv6 faster than enemy support & have advantages in early team fights. His unique champion pool such as heimerdinger also huge reason why drx had won that year.
Memes aside, I think BeryL genuinely should be seriously in a conversation for supports. Especially if you are talking about achievements. Whether he wins the debate or not, getting to worlds finals three consecutive years on two different teams and winning two of those is a bonkers achievement. Especially considering neither of those teams were T1 lol
Problem is he wasn't the best support at worlds every time he went, nor was the best support at the end of it. He had a trophy due to circumstance rather than it purely being his raw skill. He is a player that plays up to his teammates and band-aids well like his career spectrum. He flickered between academy majority of his career. Because of this band-aid affect he does, he won't ever straight-up be last place, but he won't ever be the best over other players no matter what game or tournament he enters. His team on DWG and DRX were abnormal circumstances that in all honesty, Beryl couldn't control. By the end of it he's arguably not the best support even winning worlds. He's just a good team player.
As a t1 fan I'd rather have 3-0 in favor of t1. But also as a t1 fan, I wouldn't believe in my hopes until it happens. I just want them to win and have no regrets.

To see why the West loses to other leagues such as LCK and LPL, just show this video. Self-proclaimed experts did not mention Bang, who is rated better than Uzi even in China. And they say it's getting harder and harder to win Worlds, so they talk about Meiko in the support line. However they don't even seriously discuss Beryl, who won twice over the past three years while switching teams. Any viewer who has watched LOL for 10 years would be better than these guys.
He won that semi becuase he famously didn't play the most OP jungler that year for the whole year until it was accidentally locked in and they continually tried to bench him
He showed improvement by picking his worst jungler. That to me is what makes a player a goat - transformative careers and willingness / ability to improve across an aray of meta and formats of different styles of play.
I can see 3-0 if T1 actually prepped and DON'T repeat their habit of letting the enemy get a comfort pick as well as ignoring drakes. Then it comes down to Zeus vs TheShy. TheShy with his long time experience and Zeus riding on the high that he's been having ever since Faker returned. I have full faith in Guma and Keria because they have already dealt with Ruler and Gala, for this worlds, ATM that will not be a problem for them. Oner knows that this will be the time for him to see where he can go so he will be an over achiever, hopefully with that confidence to back it up in his plays. Then finally, Faker, he has changed a lot since his return to form. It feels like he's very comfortable in lane against all of the LPL mid laners so far and is able to pull off clutch game ending plays. He's making less mistakes of getting caught in side lanes, but most importantly, he's getting those KILLS now that change is what makes his presence so much more important and dangerous for both sides. I hope they are able to keep that balance and pull this off in dominating fashion this Sunday

With regards to the earlier talk about why do NA and EU teams keep reshuffling even when they find a good run at international tournaments, I think that has something to do with the fact that yes, they're good domestically, but if they can't even contend for an international title, then it does not really matter. LCK and LPL teams are usually stable because they believe that with practice, they can be better. For LEC and LCS, the gap is widening again and they need to find ways to shorten it again. May it be getting eastern talent or creating a hometown superteam (like G2), they gotta find ways so that their audience can believe in them again. Minor regions are on their own universe so let's let them be.
this is just a bad take by western teams , many other esports show as well as CLG previous success and NRG current success internationally that good teams and talents form only when sticking with them , as long as they put the work in( players and coaching staff) there is a reason NRG did so well despite individually being mid level players -》 cause it's a team game and synergy and cohesive plans for what to fight and what not to fight matters , its not all about raw talent ( FPX also proved this their players were good but none were really mechanically the best in their role , but they had best understanding of meta , cohesive decision making and good strategy ) also more than international success viewers also want a team or player to be invested into but the volatility of LCS makes emotional investment hard, meaning LCS loses out on all front with their terrible take , now obviously success makes investment much easier but as.minor regions prove ( especially like south america) fans are ok with stability and trying again , even if they lose with a similar tram at least for a couple of years , after two years of no improvement then change stuff
To put it bluntly, a region full of players who don't make the effort to adapt to the meta doesn't deserve to win. Western teams nowadays are just picking Ezreal, Olaf, etc. and hoping to win by luck. So, of the Western teams, only NRG, who played a Rumble-like pick, survived.
The thing is that LEC and LCS dont practice as hard as LCK or LPL. I personally respect work and life balance of pro players. But pro players of LEC especially LCS dont have work ethics. I dont wanna disrespect their effort but It's too far to win the MSI or WORLDS. Even though Solo Q in NA is disaster af now, they should have tried to practice hard even between pro players. But they dont do that much. LEC pro players do same I reckon. And they always hope to win at international competition. So many pro players of all kind of sport do practice hard even if they dont get paid for additional training. Some of them even spend the personal time to improve themselves. Athlete should prove themselves with their performance and the results. It's cruel but it's how it works in this field. I dont think that it's different to LOL pro players. I dont think that they do something more such as LCK or LPL pro players. That makes the huge different that they dont even get closer.
I realy hope Keria gets to win worlds after last year, and maybe just maybe if he does not, tell the cameraman to dont be di*khead and dont point the camera at him for 15 min str8 while he is shaken and broken.

After Beryil left, DK have not won any title. Prime DK is the Beryil's team. Laners with fantastic mechanic could cook the game with the order of greatest supporter of all time. And it worked as well in DRX last year.

Not mentioning Khan or Score in the respective role goat discussion seems criminal to me. Both have the longevity and the peaks to justify it. Also i think Deft clears Ruler for ADC goat for now. He went toe to toe with Uzi at his prime, beat two historically strong SKT/T1 line-ups for his MSI and Worlds title. Also Deft in 2019 had one of the biggest carry jobs ever, unfortunately it goes completely under the radar because that Kingzone team was super bad otherwise.

Doesnt matter if they played bad before. DRX played bad until worlds and I think they well deserve the win. So does T1. At the end, who improved the most and standing still is what matters because they have earned the opportunity to fight for the worlds trophy.
As far as top lane GOAT I actually think it has to be Impact. He's played for so long and kept such a consistency; his highs and lows have never waivered very far from each other. Other top laners have had greater highs, but those same ones have also had crushing lows AND within a shorter amount of time playing pro.
AMBITION should be up there for GOAT JUNGLER discussion imo as he was the first one to break FAKER substantially also be one of the few JUNGLERS who went back to back finals Maybe his domestic career is lacking but he was too good in both those WORLDS

If we number them: 1) LongZhu (LZ) 2017 ( the playstyle LPL prides itself on started with Khan and LZ) 2) RNG 2018 (stage was set and they fumbled the bag hard) 3)SKT 2017 ( pre ardent censor meta, they were 2nd to LZ) 3) WE 2017 ( Had meta remained the same from summer, they were a strong contender) 4) ROX 2016 (they'd come up with so many weird picks that the other teams that non-SKT teams can't keep up and will break down). these are best iteration of teams that didn't win.

Totally worth up for discussion for the Goat jungle is Jankos . He manage to first of all stay in the scene for a huge amount of time . He was in like what 4 semis at worlds over the years . 1 finals . Got the MSI . And I don't want to dis G2 since it was an extremely good team but what if Jankos was in Korea or China at his peak is it to hard to imagine he would win 1 or 2 world championships ? Like this guy gapped Canyon just 1 year before Cannyon peaked and was already in the game way before Cannyon . Even this year Jankos at 28 years old was still considered the best jungler in EU while being in an abysmal team solo carrying games at 28 with pure mechanics and smart plays . Is he the best jungler ever ? Idk but clearly he can be placed in a top 5 top 3 quite easy
And again Jankos is coming from a weaker region with a weaker competition and yet he was always up to par with international competition without having the training grounds . And I really wanna point out how long has he been in the scene and how many great junglers died off after 1-3 years while Jankos is still going very comparable to Faker.
I would unironically consider Impact for the GOAT toplaner title. Man won worlds, has been top 3 in his position domestically for a decade, and consistently holds his own at worlds against the best top laners even when his team is crumbling around him. I know it's hard to talk up anyone playing in NA, but nobody else in top lane has been as good for as long.
WBG picks blue side, Target Bans Faker. T1 bans Neeko. WBG 1st picks Azir for Xiahou. AND THEN FAKER PICKS CORKI, and everyone loses it. T1 3 - 0 and now we get T1 Corki skin. 🗿

Give me a 3-0 T1 they deserve it. Despite the Meta at start THEY formed a new one mid worlds. Guma and Keria played out of their minds, played the most different champs, they even bought Jhin. Zeus played 3x Aatrox then countered his Pick with an insane Yone performance. And Faker did Faker things. Oner outstanding (outside of Maokai) the amount of times he stole objectives or his engages. They just deserve it.
Beryl definitely the best support, I think he innovates the play style that early roaming to mid, take some minions so he can get to lv6 faster than enemy support & have advantages in early team fights. His unique champion pool such as heimerdinger also huge reason why drx had won that year.
Memes aside, I think BeryL genuinely should be seriously in a conversation for supports. Especially if you are talking about achievements. Whether he wins the debate or not, getting to worlds finals three consecutive years on two different teams and winning two of those is a bonkers achievement. Problem is he wasn't the best support at worlds every time he went, nor was the best support at the end of it. He had a trophy due to circumstance rather than it purely being his raw skill. He is a player that plays up to his teammates and band-aids well like his career spectrum. He flickered between academy majority of his career. Because of this band-aid affect he does, he won't ever straight-up be last place, but he won't ever be the best over other players no matter what game or tournament he enters. His team on DWG and DRX were abnormal circumstances that in all honesty, Beryl couldn't control. By the end of it he's arguably not the best support even winning worlds. He's just a good team player.

To see why the West loses to other leagues such as LCK and LPL, just show this video. Self-proclaimed experts did not mention Bang, who is rated better than Uzi even in China. And they say it's getting harder and harder to win Worlds, so they talk about Meiko in the support line. However they don't even seriously discuss Beryl, who won twice over the past three years while switching teams. Any viewer who has watched LOL for 10 years would be better than these guys.

He showed improvement by picking his worst jungler. That to me is what makes a player a goat - transformative careers and willingness / ability to improve across an aray of meta and formats of different styles of play.
I can see 3-0 if T1 actually prepped and DON'T repeat their habit of letting the enemy get a comfort pick as well as ignoring drakes. Then it comes down to Zeus vs TheShy. TheShy with his long time experience and Zeus riding on the high that he's been having ever since Faker returned. I have full faith in Guma and Keria because they have already dealt with Ruler and Gala, for this worlds, ATM that will not be a problem for them. Oner knows that this will be the time for him to see where he can go so he will be an over achiever, hopefully with that confidence to back it up in his plays. Then finally, Faker, he has changed a lot since his return to form. It feels like he's very comfortable in lane against all of the LPL mid laners so far and is able to pull off clutch game ending plays. He's making less mistakes of getting caught in side lanes, but most importantly, he's getting those KILLS now that change is what makes his presence so much more important and dangerous for both sides. I hope they are able to keep that balance and pull this off in dominating fashion this Sunday

And the best example of his insane macro and “being the jungle itself” is his nunu vs reignover at msi 2015 (this is just ONE example,and for people saying that’s what you’re supposed to do on nunu it’s different doing it in a game 5 in an international stage against a very good fnatic team)
And for someone who was just known by everyone as not playing mechanical intensive champs, coming in game 4 and having to first pick nidalee against peak rox tigers is one of the best LoL moments.

With regards to the earlier talk about why do NA and EU teams keep reshuffling even when they find a good run at international tournaments, I think that has something to do with the fact that yes, they're good domestically, but if they can't even contend for an international title, then it does not really matter. LCK and LPL teams are usually stable because they believe that with practice, they can be better. For LEC and LCS, the gap is widening again and they need to find ways to shorten it again. May it be getting eastern talent or creating a hometown superteam (like G2), they gotta find ways so that their audience can believe in them again. Minor regions are on their own universe so let's let them be.
this is just a bad take by western teams , many other esports show as well as CLG previous success and NRG current success internationally that good teams and talents form only when sticking with them , as long as they put the work in( players and coaching staff) there is a reason NRG did so well despite individually being mid level players -》 cause it's a team game and synergy and cohesive plans for what to fight and what not to fight matters , its not all about raw talent ( FPX also proved this their players were good but none were really mechanically the best in their role , but they had best understanding of meta , cohesive decision making and good strategy )
also more than international success viewers also want a team or player to be invested into but the volatility of LCS makes emotional investment hard, meaning LCS loses out on all front with their terrible take , now obviously success makes investment much easier but as.minor regions prove ( especially like south america) fans are ok with stability and trying again , even if they lose with a similar tram at least for a couple of years , after two years of no improvement then change stuff

To put it bluntly, a region full of players who don't make the effort to adapt to the meta doesn't deserve to win. Western teams nowadays are just picking Ezreal, Olaf, etc. and hoping to win by luck. So, of the Western teams, only NRG, who played a Rumble-like pick, survived.
The thing is that LEC and LCS dont practice as hard as LCK or LPL. I personally respect work and life balance of pro players. But pro players of LEC especially LCS dont have work ethics.
I dont wanna disrespect their effort but It's too far to win the MSI or WORLDS.
Even though Solo Q in NA is disaster af now, they should have tried to practice hard even between pro players. But they dont do that much. LEC pro players do same I reckon. And they always hope to win at international competition.
So many pro players of all kind of sport do practice hard even if they dont get paid for additional training. Some of them even spend the personal time to improve themselves.
Athlete should prove themselves with their performance and the results. It's cruel but it's how it works in this field. I dont think that it's different to LOL pro players.

As far as top lane GOAT I actually think it has to be Impact. He's played for so long and kept such a consistency; his highs and lows have never waivered very far from each other.
Other top laners have had greater highs, but those same ones have also had crushing lows AND within a shorter amount of time playing pro.
AMBITION should be up there for GOAT JUNGLER discussion imo as he was the first one to break FAKER substantially also be one of the few JUNGLERS who went back to back finals

With JDG no longer on the golden road and most likely splitting up, I kind of wanted a discussion regarding: who are the best teams that have never won worlds? Where does JDG go on that list? If (I am a T1 fan) T1 doesn't win worlds, where are they in that discussion?
If we number them:
1) LongZhu (LZ) 2017 ( the playstyle LPL prides itself on started with Khan and LZ)
2) RNG 2018 (stage was set and they fumbled the bag hard)
3)SKT 2017 ( pre ardent censor meta, they were 2nd to LZ)
3) WE 2017 ( Had meta remained the same from summer, they were a strong contender)
4) ROX 2016 (they'd come up with so many weird picks that the other teams that non-SKT teams can't keep up and will break down).

Totally worth up for discussion for the Goat jungle is Jankos . He manage to first of all stay in the scene for a huge amount of time . He was in like what 4 semis at worlds over the years . 1 finals . Got the MSI . And I don't want to dis G2 since it was an extremely good team but what if Jankos was in Korea or China at his peak is it to hard to imagine he would win 1 or 2 world championships ? Like this guy gapped Canyon just 1 year before Cannyon peaked and was already in the game way before Cannyon . Even this year Jankos at 28 years old was still considered the best jungler in EU while being in an abysmal team solo carrying games at 28 with pure mechanics and smart plays . Is he the best jungler ever ? Idk but clearly he can be placed in a top 5 top 3 quite easy
And again Jankos is coming from a weaker region with a weaker competition and yet he was always up to par with international competition without having the training grounds . And I really wanna point out how long has he been in the scene and how many great junglers died off after 1-3 years while Jankos is still going very comparable to Faker.
I would unironically consider Impact for the GOAT toplaner title. Man won worlds, has been top 3 in his position domestically for a decade, and consistently holds his own at worlds against the best top laners even when his team is crumbling around him. I know it's hard to talk up anyone playing in NA, but nobody else in top lane has been as good for as long.

Maybe its cultural differences but it isnt always easy to see people, especially non-player/legends who never experienced that level of competition talk about players without much notion of reservedness. As if they dont realize that they are privileged with a great big audience that’s there definitely not because of their skill or knowledge of the game.
The difference in tone when they’re evaluating players’ careers in this vid vs in t1 podcast (wolf, bang, flame, ambition) is quite surprising
