  • @TKDragon75
    @TKDragon75 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Thunderbolt holds a special place on my coaster list since for a long time when I was little it was my favorite coaster ever and I still enjoy it a lot. It has a max height of 70ft. and a max drop of 90ft. according to rcdb. It's an amazing terrain coaster and just turned 100 this year, still pretty smooth and has some awesome lateral forces.

    • @AirtimeThrills
      @AirtimeThrills  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thunderbolt is pretty solid, close to my list

  • @psychopompinc.646
    @psychopompinc.646 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I would put Whizzer at SFGA on that list. It's a ton of fun, has the wacky spiral lift hill, and some really awesome low to the ground moments. Height is 72'. Such a fun coaster. I haven't ridden it in a while, but when I was a kid it had seat belts that never quite felt tight so I always felt like it was trying to throw me out of the car.

  • @theodoreperkoski1951
    @theodoreperkoski1951 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    How about Kennywood's Thunderbolt with a height of only 70ft with a final drop of 90ft. it uses the terrain to it's maximum advantage. It has such laterals, that you must have a parter to ride it. I think that its is worth at least an honorable mention.

    Big Dipper at Geauga Lake. It's certainly been surpassed by Magnum among others but for a long time it was the coaster I rode the most by far. Obviously there are a lot better rides out there but you were asking for our favorites so there you go.
    Also, two Blue Streaks. The one at Cedar Point is really good actually, and I once got a ride where the restraint didn't latch so it was a bit wild. And the one at Conneaut Lake Park was that same kind of wild every time, you just never knew if it would hold together but somehow it always did. No rush quite like the "am I going to live through this ride" rush.

    • @johnchambers8528
      @johnchambers8528 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am going to really miss the Blue Streak at Conneaut Park. Those first three hills and the shakey ride you got really was thrilling. As noted in its last days you always wondered would you make it back without it falling down. Too bad the new owner did not see the value in investing to secure its longer life. Since it was so far away from a major city that park needed a major coaster to attract bigger crowds. Of course it does not help that he destroyed so many other popular rides as well.

    Finally-a top 20 with coasters my scared butt has ridden 😂 Guardians and Hagrids are fantastic. Everest is a rush, but the backwards section makes me a little too sick to be fun.
    I would add:
    -Tron at Magic Kingdom is 78 feet but hauls at 60 mph. Definitely the highlight of my trip in May. I also did a night ride on Big Thunder and it’s surprisingly intense when you can’t see where you’re going.
    -My home park is KY Kingdom, so gotta show some love to Thunder Run.
    -The Bat at Kings Island never gets old.
    -Dollywood’s Big Bear Mountain and FireChaser Express are family coasters but both give a heck of a ride.
    Just-a-bit-too-tall honorable mentions: Lightning Run, Thunderhead, TX Stingray, Mystic Timbers. Not sure how tall it is, but the bobsled mountain coaster at Mystic Mountain in Jamaica was great.

    The cutoff is just barely too low to let in Wicked Cyclone!
    Some of my short favorites, beginning with two defunct ones:
    - Big Bad Wolf (Busch Gardens Williamsburg). You knew it, you loved it.
    - Mr. Twister (Elitch Gardens). Just barely under the line! This was a wild ride. Nothing but a buzzbar holding you in while the coaster threatened to pitch you sideways into the void.
    These still live:
    - Untamed (Canobie Lake Park). Home-park fave. You can probably substitute any of the Gerstlauer Eurofighter 320/320+ rides here. 72-foot vertical lift, beyond vertical drop, three inversions. They're short, they kick a bit, they're fun.
    - Yankee Cannonball (Canobie Lake Park). About 65 feet tall. Not super intense, and it's probably less intense than it used to be, but I love how smooth it is for a coaster that dates back to the 1930s.
    - Thunderbolt (Six Flags New England). A 1940s reconstruction of a coaster model built for two 1939 expositions in New York and San Francisco. Has a good double down and a violent bunny hill in the last lap.
    - Roar-O-Saurus (Story Land). Wild, bucking, airtime-filled GG junior woodie. Only 40 feet tall, this is by far the shortest coaster on this list and it's one of the most intense ones.
    - And at Walt Disney World, both the East Coast Space Mountain and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster are under the line.

    A couple under 100 feet that I like are, Colossus the Fire Dragon at Lagoon. It’s a classic Schwarzkopf double loop coaster. It has a steep 85 foot swoop drop which causes it to reach 55 mph, and the two consecutive vertical loops are very forceful.
    My second noteworthy one is Canyon Blaster at the Adventuredome at Circus Circus, Las Vegas. It is an Arrow Dynamics multi looper built entirely indoors. It goes up 95 feet and then drops into two vertical loops, and then hairpins into a double corkscrew. It then tunnels through the faux cliff formation several times.

I've never ridden Coaster at Playland, but I also don't think much of Phoenix, which I think is # 12 on my sub-100ft list. I have Cyclops ranked ahead of Zeus. Big Bear Mountain & White Lightning (and not Mine Blower) are in my top 11 of this list.

    racer 75 at kings dominion and mine blower. if we're going to get nit picky then my true new favorite is thunder head at dollywood. if your ignore that itty bitty .4 extra on the 100 foot drop. got 18 rides over 2 days. 1st eight were from rows 6,3, and 1. the last 10 were rows 12-10. this is now my absolute new favorite wooden 1st drop.

    I might be a bit weird for continuously singing the praises of Chessington World Of Adventures as a family park, but all 3 (as of last visit) coasters are under 100 feet and I still have great fun on them.
    - To put their all-round nature into perspective, Mandrill Mayhem is the first coaster at Chessington to feature an inversion. A B&M launched Wing coaster with a shuttle layout, this one's got a bit of everything. Reasonably forceful longitudinal Gs (especially off the boost through the station), positives through the helix stall, and hang time off the 2 stalls and the inline twist over the World Of Jumanji entrance. The very back row faces backwards for anyone who feels like they'd rather the initial launch be forwards from their point of view.
    - Dragon's Fury is a fairly typical Maurer spinning mouse, but that doesn't mean it's not enjoyable. You get some nice pops of ejector airtime on the various post-block-brake drops, and the vertical hairpin is a great way to kick off the ride.
    - Vampire is approaching 40, and despite the fact it's definitely showing its age (arguably not helped by the 2001/02 replacement of the old Arrow trains with Vekoma hang-n-bangs), the flight through the forest still manages to be a good time. The front row is a lot of fun if you're a fan of longitudinal Gs as you get rammed through the post-drop turns.

    Another international contender should be medusa steel coaster. Its the shortest rmc at 98’ but it still packs a punch.

    Thanks for rating Phoenix at Kneoble’s as number one on your list. I have ridden many different coasters around the country and always still rate Phoenix as number one. To me it just has the right combination of speed and air time hills. Those last few small hills going back to the station pack a punch and having only buzz bar restraints only adds to the fun. I did ride some of the other coasters in this video and also agree they are nice also.

    Out of the ones I’ve ridden under 100ft, I have to put Swamp Fox, Wild One, and Jokers Jinx on my list. Comet was also a great choice for me as well, but I don’t know how it’s riding since they replaced the lapbars.

    Wooden warrior is only 35 ft tall and is an airtime machine. Its length is short but you literally couldn't make it longer. Definitely would have a spot on my list.

    So happy to see Phoenix at #1. Finally got on my first ride there last summer (in my early 40s), and I'd seen many a POV of the ride and thought it was overrated. There was nothing that could have prepared me for the airtime and what those restraints DON'T do. I was laughing like a kid the whole time. Also a big fan of Guardians, Hagrid's, The Cyclone and Verbolten. Gotta get on some more!
