- Today on what it's like, 1947 Hudson big boy. Hudson would offer the big boy from 1939-1947 in two flavors 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton up until WWII and then dropped the 1/2 ton model
Really cool episode also this truck belonged to Mike Wolfe from the history channel series American pickers
This truck was on offer at Motorcar Portfolio just recently sold but with that said, they still have stellar cars on offer for more information, pricing and pictures pertaining to their inventory be sure to click the link below after the show

Yeah buddy congratulations you got it =)
I may be only 27 and blind, but that doesn’t stop me from being a classic car enthusiast. Hudson is one of my top three favorite manufacturers of all time up there with Ford and Chevy to this day.
I hope at car shows, you are offered permission to feel the lines and textures of a car.
I'm bind too one eye and tunnel in the other one.
What about Packard, Nash and Studebaker???
Hudson, with Studebaker and Packard were, arguably, the finest of America's car makers.
Chrysler carried on the tradition into the 1960's but don't know what happened to them.
Mama and I moved to the 'country', before Virginia Beach was a City.
Mr. Brooks, the man who build our house, had a 1953 Hudson Hornet.
Mr. Flamant, across the street, had a 1951 Patrician.
Next to Mr. Brooks was a 1954 Studebaker Conestoga wagon.
On the next street Mr. Reider had a 1951 Lincoln Cosmopolitan.
Mrs. Hatch had a 1952 Rolls-Royce Wraith.
Mr. Robbins had a 1951 Chrysler Imperial Town Sedan.
Those WERE the days!
First pick Studebaker coupe express, second any Hudson Big Boy or earlier Terraplane pickup, great episode. That is going to be a fun truck for someone to enjoy.
Thanks for the clutch tip. and finding a second Big boy. Went back and watched the blue 46 Big boy, that one ts luxurious.
Love these old trucks with car front ends. So sleek.
WYR: Studebaker Coupe Express, one of my favorite vehicles ever. I like the 1941 Hudson, though I'm almost seduced by the side mounts on the 1939.
Beautiful example
Never knew Hudson made a truck. Thanks
Thank you so much for watching =)
Just responding to part 1 of the survey. I love the Studebaker. I think my choice is heavily influenced by the 2 tone paint. It looks nice on a pickup.
If a manufacturer could make a modern equivalent of a 1947 Hudson Big Boy pickup and sell it for $23k, I would run out and buy it immediately.
Same, this just proves that modern vehicle manufacturers are just plain greedy.. I mean, they charge more for a plastic bumper than a steel bumper.. I had a 67 Mustang at one point you could get every single part for that car back in 2010 a bumper was like 250 bucks meanwhile if you wanted a 2010 Honda Odyssey bumper it was like 500 bucks and the Honda Odyssey bumper is plastic. It’s absolutely insane.
How cool would it be to have one of those 50s Hudson 'Utes' as shown at 3:40! Never even heard of those before. As usual, great research, Jay. Beautiful maroon paint on the 47! WYR= Stude and the 41 Hudson. I like the grille on the 41 better. I'm (im)patiently waiting for the Ruxton episode!
I saw a 52 Hudson UTE at hershey one year I haven't saw another one since that would be an epic feature
Studebaker
Willy's
Hudsons are full size !!!! Huge 😮 mid size autos for me 😉👍
Great Episode 👏👏👏
Happy Motoring ✌️🤠
Great looking truck. I have several marketing and sales pieces from this year.
Awesome I couldn't find that many Hudson truck ads from 47
Diamond T also made a great looking small truck in this era...
Sure does beat the Cyberpunk. Lol
I saw a cyber truck not too long ago who sings are huge they're about the same size as my 52 Chevy one ton with stake bed
When I was growing up sitting on a fender with feet on the headers, anything could be fixed, changed or repaired with a screwdriver and an adjustable wrench.
Those were the days… I’m thankful for technology, but the quality is gone. We live in a plastic world. Even our cars are plastic and they charge a fortune for them.
I like the 47 Hudson except some of the add ons. ie the wheels, and the lights and back bumper.
There are still so many 1947 trucks out there. Must have been the post war boom? Never have seen a Hudson truck IRL.
They are very cool when you do get to see one
To be honest, I wouldn't pick any of the choices. I mean they are neat looking, but the Chevy pickup from this era I think are the best all around. Also, I've never liked low riding, car based pickups, which the Hudson basically is.
Not a bad looking truck with a pretty stylish interior to boot. I'll take the Studebaker and '39 Hudson.
Sweet choices =)
I always thought Hershey should make a candy with the old, small, triangular, individual, cardboard creamer container…filled with Hershey’s Dark Chocolate Syrup. The name…drumroll…Hershey Squirts. 😂😂😂
Hahaha nice
What an awesome ride except for the recessed grille, I just don't care for that. Both the bed and tailgate are perfect, which with them being single-layer metal is incredible this far along as they get banged up the first time any hard load shifts. The reverse-opening hood gives great access too. The dashboard, steering wheel, and turn signal box are superbly styled and seats like these are more comfortable than you'd imagine.
WYR The Studebaker Coupe Express wins but they're all great. Then the 41 Big Boy. No clue on NTT- is it from the same era?
NTT is from the mid 60s I think Dennis got it
The recessed grill looks very interesting , but I agree I think I like the 41 better
WOW!!!! I've never seen nor heard of a Hudson Big Boy before!!! Stunning! WYR 1: You're right! Totally unfair! 2: I think I'll go with the 41! That gaping mouth on the 47 is a little off-putting to me. Somehow it reminds me of the inside of a cat's mouth or something! I could easily overcome it though!
So happy I could show this one to you it was also cool that it was Mike Wolfe's it's one of my favorite trucks ever behind the 37 studebaker coupe express of course but would drive either of them
There is one of these close to me for sale. I wish i could afford it & afford to restore it.
A friend of the channel sent one to me earlier this year for $6500 it was the bargain of the century it needed restored but was worth way more than they were asking if they washed it
2nd lot, 1939 Hudson
6 foot 4ins with your hair style Jay.
Hahaha I did this about a month ago I have a fro now
37 Stude!
39 !
WYR: All of them.
Hahaha awesome the would you rather tonight is unfair
Also this truck was owned by Mike wolfe from American pickers
@@What.its.like. That particular truck was owned by THAT guy? SWEET!
Yep I was like I got to sit in the same seat as Mike Wolfe it was pretty cool
@@What.its.like. Would've been cooler if he had been there to go over stories of his time with it.
1937 Studebaker Express then 1939 Hudson Big Boy.
Sweet choices
1937 Studebaker.
37 Studebaker
Never saw these before ! This would be a awesome resto mod, with a 4200 vortex, or a big block GMC i6, with modern transmission , 6L80, 8L90, it tremac TKO 5 speed, tr6060, the 5-speed used with the 4200 vortec. Either would be cool. With 20" rims 50 series Tires.
47 Hudson

"OLD MAN RIVER" sung by Jay & The Americans. The following lyric is "DOO be DOO be DOO" 🎸🎸🎤🥁🎹
Haha it was beach boys vegetables, kind of out there song lol
Your hyper-enthusiasm will never make any Hudson a desirable vehicle. Crapola then, still crapola. The American truck buyer chose Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, and GMC, game over!
Eh back in this era this made more power than Dodge, Chevy And those trucks were half tons and the bed wasn’t as big
Sweet!
Hersheys ? Careful there ....rumor has it ....they're eating Kit -Kats
P S ...might leave Archie HOME...
