Growing up, I was called negra and always compared to my fairer skinned cousins/siblings at every family occasion. They treated me inferiorly purely on the basis of my skin colour or height even though my accomplishments in school and career was sinificantly better. All those doesn't matter because my skin is dark and I'm short. It took my formative years to imbue the message that your skin and height defines you. It will take more years for me to override that in my mind and accept myself for all my accomplishments and shortcomings. P.S. I never call people dark. Let's just spread kindness and place more importance on behavious instead of colourism and height-ism.
