- Here it is, Hyundai’s contender in the seven-seat subcompact crossover segment: the 2023 Hyundai Stargazer. What we have here is the top-spec Stargazer GLS Premium variant, which is set to go against the likes of the Toyota Veloz, the Mitsubishi Xpander and Xpander Cross, the Nissan Livina, the Honda BR-V, and the Suzuki Ertiga and XL7.
That’s a tough set to go against, especially since most of its peers are either all-new iterations or recently refreshed models. Aside from being the lone Korean-badged entry in this group, how else does it differentiate itself from other class competitors? The title is so misleading. I was hoping for specific comparisons with the cars mentioned in the title. Instead, all you mentioned were comparison in general.
Just wait for the facelifted version, it's coming soon as Indonesia will be getting it soon.
When one knows how to adjust the driver’s seat for proper ergonomics that said panel that surrounds the instrument cluster is always below one’s line of sight. So it poses no problem. Drive it and not just look at it.
Very spot-on review despite not being as comprehensive as I would prefer it to be. Observations were the very same when I drove one, especially worth mentioning that the visibility is as terrible as it could get and would make newbie drivers have a slightly more difficult time driving this. The IVT is surprisingly responsive and fakes gears amazingly... should you put it in Sport or Smart mode. Delay is understandable in Eco mode but very questionable for Normal mode on why it's terribly sluggish. Tho ride isn't as harsh and no backpains occurred during my drive before, tho yes I wouldn't say its more comfy than the Xpander. One thing I'm bummed about it tho is the ADAS features wherein apart from the BSW system, everything else feels near non-existent. I know it should be more felt since when I did a short test drive with the top-spec Staria, you could really tell that you have those addtl driver aids with you. Would be hard to tell it as its advantage really, given its almost not there at all(and FYI, I checked while driving one before and the ADAS system was on).
Overall a decent subcompact MPV for the price it asks, but definitely won't shake-up the segment as much as how other people think it would.
I stopped for a second at 0:53 and realized the video was in reverse.
Compared to all cvts and 4 speed torque converters in competing mpvs the stargazer is actually the only one that can manage the passenger load with its very puny engine very well. Other auto transmission like the one from toyota is tuned to be efficient which makes it very weak when going uphill fully loaded and do i have to tell you about 4 speed? 4 speed will not have enough gear ratio to handle the load properly so it will be sluggish compared to cvts. Well i would love to see 6 speed in the segment the chevrolet spin was the only one to offer it paired with a bigger engine too 1.8 liter sadly they phased it out in ph market.
Chevy Spin have two engine with 1.5L Gas engine not 1.8L. and 1.3L Diesel Turbo engine

Never been that big of a fan of MPV's given the soccer mom or utilitarian vibes it gives. But I'm not gonna lie, when I first saw the Hyundai Stargazer I thought it was some sort of Honda Odyssey competitor. It looked expensive, maybe a 2-3 million peso car. It's still an MPV and focused on practicality, not that exciting, but it's got an interesting look to say the least.
I am a highly practical person so MPVs are the perfect car for me.
I like this car due to its features and engine performance but seeing it on the road is not impressive as it Looks compared to Mitsubishi Expander. And I hate the ugly panel sticking on top of the Dash. Seems the designer ran out of option.
No automatic air-conditioner for the top spec? Bummer.

I just can't withstand the dashboard it looks like the car was built in the 90's. But overall, the specs are good and contender to the MPV segment.
