This is insane. Yeah that kind of messaging has no ill effect nor long term effects on children at all. I bet if the lab that had the macaques showed them a continuos flow of pics where peoole maniacally slaughtered animals or showed them nonstop film footage of that a la a clockwork orange then PETA would be outraged and claim that this would effect the animals in a negative way and psychologically scar them and traumatize them for life yet when done to children they would argue that there is no negative outcomes whatsoever. Riiigghhhttt....
@@StephenRain-v1u This is a poor argument. What they are showing children are over the top, embellished, half truth or even complete falsehoods that attacks the people who are the most important in these children's lives being their parents. When they show videos telling children that their parents are murderous, void of feeling, blood thirsty and violent sociopaths/psychopaths it not only send the message that is a lie it also traumatizes them and making them think that their parents are some monsters. Most people who are level headed would more than likely agree that a child should be at a certain age where showing them how animals are dispatched would be acceptable. This is the problem nowadays. People for some reason have all of a sudden come to a point where they think it's OK to expose children to adult things and images or to allow them to make adult decisions like I don't know getting hormone replacement therapy and so on. How we as a society have come to this point where children all of a sudden have the ability to view adult things and make adult decisions is mind boggling so saying maybe we shouldn't be killing animals for consumption because the images of animals be dispatched is traumatic for people who have trouble processing why Scooby-Doo is no longer on Saturday mornings because the network canceled it is preposterous and ridiculous. Pokémon has explicitly stated that the Pokémon that fight in the games and anime personally come to the trainers themselves with the desire to become stronger through fighting and training. Those who do not wish to abandon their trainers or live comfortable lives as companions. This sets up the idea that Pokémon are leagues smarter than real life animals. This is enforced by the fact that a Pokémon could potentially kill a human at any moment using their movesets and Pokémon are often considered “fascinating yet dangerous creatures if they aren’t respected”. The anime even goes further into this fact with Pikachu, stating Pikachu wanted to become stronger with Ash. This all goes to show PETA did not do any research into the series and just picked random fights with everyone.
Pokemon is also a replacement for a practice where kids would make beetles fight each other (thus Pokemon has done more for animal welfare than Peta, because Pokemon hasn't unthanized any animals...)
Another prime example of that quote is Ghetsis' Hydreigon, absolutely despising him, yet weirdly never attempting to kill him again after the first attempt.

It would make sense for PETA to have a lot of enemies, generally. Not even because of the veganism itself, but more so their planning, approach, and actions (and not just with non-vegans either) to veganism, and spreading it, it’s kinda hard to like or trust them, even if you yourself are vegan. They have a point in their beliefs, and not just from an ethical standpoint, but they aren’t exactly “great” at advertising it. Putting it bluntly, they only appeal to a very specific type of vegan, and or individual- and even then, many vegans, even the more ethical ones, tend to dislike them for the aforementioned reasons (and occasionally the tone deafness the organization can display towards some groups of people and their struggles).
The same lady has been running PETA for decades so that’s not surprising at all. She’s running a campaign which on the surface is something that almost no one can say is “bad”, but tarnishes the name through breaking the law and failing to understand the reality of certain situations.

The game also has Ash claiming something like, “You should have known I never cared about you!” *The very first episode* had him risking his own health and safety to protect Pikachu even though the electric mouse hadn’t been anything but disobedient and mocking at that point. Multiple episodes since then showed Ash caring for Pikachu, his other Pokémon, and Pokémon he hadn’t caught and sometimes wasn’t even planning to catch. He let his Pokémon go if they wanted to be elsewhere. PETA really looked at the character that had rescued multiple abused Pokémon, cared for them, and wanted them to be well-kept & happy and went, “There’s our villain right there!”

Activists need to learn that irritating, inconveniencing, and insulting the general population is not going to make people join your side. Best case scenario, you end up a meme like Vegan Teacher
I think it can be effective for issues that directly impact the public in a very direct way, like environmental crisis because no matter how people feel about the activists or their methods the message conveyed into memory lingers. For humanitarian causes for groups or minorities (and for all purposes here that includes animals) it seems much more likely to backfire because it only works for people with a similar degree of conviction to the activists and many people will fall back on self-interest and can use the shock protest methods as a justification to do so.

Ah, PeTA. Never get tired of hearing that name. I remember a quote from one of their reps or something in a promotional video, "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, we would all be vegan." Always sounded pretentious. Like, it's not exactly secret how the meat you see at stores gets there.
They're part of the reason in too paranoid to let the dogs out in the front garden. They're usually let out in the back garden with someone watching them from the door.
I agree on one thing agriculture should be reformed to consider and minimize animal suffering. The shock value doesn't do anything but look childish, especially focusing on children who are easier to influence against any animal consumption without thinking it through or how an entire industry could be changed besides shut it all down. Maybe they have a point somewhere but it just gets lost in publicity stunts, to the point corporations don't even have to portray them in a bad light when they disgrace themselves.
The only way PETA will win is if they can produce a meat replacement that gives the same benefits while actually tasting good and is also cheaper. Huffing and puffing at people shouting about meat only makes them hungry.
"a meat replacement that gives the same benefits while actually tasting good and is also cheaper" I think the closest thing we have right now is Quorn, but even then that's not purely vegan as it's a mixture of fungus and egg whites (it also doesn't taste _as_ good as actual meat).
You can't say they aren't at least creative. If you divorce PeTA from the ads and just look at each campaign in a vacuum, and are a little high, some of them are hilarious.
Yeah, I had a similar sentiment that while a lot of people criticize PETA for their stunts, most of them would easily get behind a lot of them if the message was something they agreed on.
Back in the 1980's, My parent's hometown has so many stray dogs. So the officials sprayed the streets with literal poison. Thus killing hundred of animals in the process (including pets). [The town has regretted it ever since but still...] And by some sick miracle PETA found a way to be even worse.
That's terrible... that things got so bad that they felt the need to do that. Did the pets die because they sprayed too much or because they didn't properly warn people? Stray dogs and cats are a real problem at times, especially with cats who can be linked to a lot of extinctions due to their highly predatory nature.
Remember the PETA attacked Battlefield 3 over a Rat QTE scene, mocking Nintendo over a Tanuki suit (shoutout to Dorkly btw), attacked various games such as Pokemon, Animal Crossing and Far Cry 6.
A rat which bites the player first. Also I love the double standard. Battlefield 3 has you killing innocent French Police Officers in one mission because of its idiotic plot but it is the rat that causes a controversy.
1:06:04 Okay, this one got a chuckle out of me. It's at least one of PETA's least problematic ads in terms of messaging. If it had come from a legitimate animal rights organization instead of *this one* I'd honestly love it completely unironically.
Imagine their ceo knowing they have done far more harm than good and still feeling good about themselves keeping $1 million a year of donations they feel entitled to as a salary.
My favorite is when PETA made all those campaigns about how every animal's life matters, then turned around and said someone's pet was "worthless in value".
You know, I still remember this PETA ad on a bus stop right across the river from my local art college. It was a naked woman holding a skinned, blood soaked faun saying "You forgot the other half of your coat". This was on one of the most frequently used streets in my city, and barely lasted a week before getting taken down
Here’s the thing: I have no problem with wanting to treat animals a little bit more… no, not just a little bit more, but a lot more fairly, but what I do have a problem with is that PETA does not have at least a foot in reality about animals. We farm animals to provide food because biologically we are meant to consume animal products in some way, shape, or form. We have zoos now to protect animals and provide breeding populations to bring back in case that species goes extinct and to provide a safe haven for animals that can’t survive in the wild. Dogs and cats can’t survive if released back into the wild because they don’t have those kinds of survival instincts anymore. The way they are going about their cause makes it seem like it is being run by absolute nut jobs
I can't believe you didn't mention the Super mario Peta game where you play as a chicken to defeat Colonel Sanders' evil chicken killing factory. It was called Super Chick Sisters
The part about the Justin Bieber spat was infuriating, talking about how people need to adopt from shelters when their own shelters are practically slaughterhouses
I'm not the guys biggest fan, but his response about how "Adoption is really cool, but some people want a specific animal and that's what breeders are for" was right on the money.

This is insane. PETA fights for the cruelty done to animals yet they are totally willing to scar children for life and give them some deep psychological issues by showing them outrageous pictures of animals being killed and maimed in complete horrific and gorey ways and also by telling them the people who are responsible for protecting them more than anyone else in the world and the people they love the most are actually psychotic and deranged killers of animals and in doing so feel nothing but complete pleasure from it.
If everyone is vegan our eyes would be on the side of our head
If what happens to animals scars children for life maybe we shouldn't be doing it
@@StephenRain-v1u This is a poor argument. And of course there's the fact that who are the people who think we shouldn't eat meat and where do they get off telling others they can't because they don't agree with it?? I think we could safely say that none of us would be here today if humans didn't eat meat way be when and only at bushes and grass and shrubs. Those people would have perished if it weren't for the fact that they ate meat. There's a reason that we aren't the only creatures that eat the flesh of other creatures but I digress because not only are the dozens of reasons obvious but because I'm not really into having to explain such easy to understand things to others.

Multiple episodes since then showed Ash caring for Pikachu, his other Pokémon, and Pokémon he hadn’t caught and sometimes wasn’t even planning to catch. He let his Pokémon go if they wanted to be elsewhere.

16:12 honestly gotta hand it to them, that is really creative
New super chick sisters by peta was low-key fire back in the day, as crazy as it was
Lolll!!!!! It freaking scarred me as a little girl!! 😂😂😂
That game was great. Back then, I didn't even know it was made by PETA and just thought the setting was cool lol
I didn’t even know it was PETA propaganda, I just wanted to play a fun Flash game
PETA complaining that a franchise where you're rewarded for killing people had an entry where you're rewarded killing Whales is pure comedy.
I heard there's a brown bear who's feeling sad, he's realy hungry and just needs a cuddle. Peta employees should give him a cuddle.
Hilarious comment considering the recent man vs bear controversy.
They are the very opposite of what they claim they stand for
People Eating Tasty Animals 😂😂😂
I had the shirt. The next generation has it now, as it was given to me, It was given
@beyondpain101 I remember when this absolute legend of a guy created his own P.E.T.A. (People Eating Tasty Animals) domain back when the internet was still fairly new. The content was basically just photos of him cooking meat, recipies, and walls of text talking about how much he loved being a carnivore. Lol. The real P.E.T.A. eventually sued him and somehow won the rights to the domain name. 😒
@@Reverend_Sashimi that's sad, trademark shenanigans I guess.
It’s weird how Peta compares the most tragic moments form around the world like the holocaust, and compares it to ordinary people eating meat. Man a lot of people were mad that day when getting compared to a Tyrant.
Corporate Terrorism would be a good name for a Folk Punk Band
My brain will never be able to wrap around how cruel humans can be.
