Dracovish is emblematic of one of my most hated aspects of Gamefreak powercreep in recent generations: rampant release of broken signature moves. The vast majority of new moves are signature moves for some reason, so old Pokémon aren't getting the buffs they need to compete. These moves also completely break the basic balance of moves in Pokémon, only justifiable because they're only available to a single Pokémon. Then, to make the legendaries more unique, Gamefreak extends this design philosophy to the legendaries as well, which exarcebates the powercreep problem.
I'm glad someone else sees this issue. It'd be one thing if only starters, psuedo-legends and legendaries got signature moves. Legendaries always had signature moves so i don't really see the issue with that. The problem comes up when these special moves are thrown out like candy on Halloween. Primeape's evolution that I can't remember the name of would be perfectly fine if it didn't have the broken move of Rage Fist. Same with Ursaluna blood moon. (Palafin with jet punch is kinda iffy as I still think he'd be annoyingly strong without it) I know signatures still existed back then on pokemon like Vespiquen, but those moves weren't BUSTED. Meanwhile the rock type is still struggling to be not trash. Garganacl only uses salt cure because that's all it can do! Instead of giving the entirety of the typing something to finally work with, they make one move for one pokemon. It doesn't make any sense to me. Physical dragons are also forced to work with garbage dragon claw or Outrage. Meanwhile, Baxcalibur is eating good with his signature with a piddly drawback. This stuff is maddening. But signature ABILITIES...that's another damn can of worms...

@@junkarunken a lot of physical dragons get scale shot which is a pretty good move paired with loaded dice, able to even outdamage outrage with max hits which is quite possible with loaded dice. it breaks sub and every hit has a chance to crit. Dragon claw still sucks especially cause to has no effect, but there are other moves such as dual chop which has had usage in the past but was gone once Fairy was introduced. The issue with a lot of dragon moves is that they have no secondary effect. If Dragon Claw had a 50% chance to drop the defence it'd be used more, or if dual chop had a high crit rate it'd be a great option. Hence why scale shot is so good, plus speed on a multi-hit move, and you can set up sd beforehand is an insane combo. Same reason why baxcalubir has been running it over glave rush, the drawbacks of scale shoot is much less than glave rush. I do agree that rock is very much lacking in the offensive move department, though many rock types are paired with a secondary type which covers the issue. No single Pokemon type should be so good that it can solo a combo, garganacal is a monster in comp cause of its high defence, healing, immunity to status and ghost resist, and turn-based damage which hits twice as hard on water and steel types. Rock types have decent offensive on the physical side, though the special side needs major work, power gem should not be the best special rock move that a majority of the type has access to.
@@junkarunken It's definitely one thing with something like Urshifu. Annihilape's Rage Fist would honestly be fine if it had a much, much lower damage cap or if it reset the damage stacks or even just halved them with each switch-in, instead of having the unique property of staying stacked regardless of death. It's pretty obvious that Annihilape was originally designed to be very strong in Tera Raids on cart, so that you don't get punished too hard for dying and you have the one pokemon that you can effectively bring to every raid - but people will still use it for battles and therein lies the issue.

Another fact but this time with paleontology: the head of dracovish is inspired of a prehistoric fish from the devonian period in the paleozoic era 360 milion years ago: Dunkleosteus terreli, with 4 meters in lengh, was the apex predator of its time, but went extinct in the devonian-carboniferous extinction.
Dracovish was so much fun to use in casual doubles. You can setup tailwind and rain easily so no need for choice scarf. Have that sucker hold choice band instead. That calc was something goofy. Ya had something like (outspeed) 2x, stab 1.5x, strong jaw 1.5x, rain 1.5, choice band 1.5x so it was like 860. Now if it was release with tera it would be 1147 with tera water.
It really says something that a badly thrown together abomination with a mismatched head on the wrong end of its body is one of the most powerful Pokémon in history. I'm not sure what it says, but it's definitely *something*.
It says that Pokémon is implementing gimmicks to try and create a “fun power creep” and one of them is a Pokemon almost guaranteed to have such a vicious Fishious Rend.
I've played on a dozen or so up-to-date Pixelmon servers...literally all of them have banned Dracovish to some extent, with 10 of those servers having it banned no matter what. One of them even excluded Dracovish from being required to be caught to have a complete Dex.
The awesome concept of stacking multipliers in pokemon, rarely applicable effectively but makes things really f*cking broken when you can. And also why setup moves are cool.
The other day I got a Dudunsparce sweep I had no right getting. Tera Rock, Coil, Defense Curl, Roost, Rollout, holding a Metronome. Their last poke was a Charizard, and I think I hit it so hard its ancestral Mew fainted from it. But a 4x SE + STAB on the 5th hit of a Metromone boosted Defense Curled +1 Atk Dudunsparce Rollout will do that. But goddamn that damage calc must've been cruel. 30×2^6×1.8×1.5×4= 20,736 power move off a +1 Atk. I think an underleveled bad nature 0IV Happiny can 1shot with such an egregious setup.

can I just say how much of a genuine jump scare it was to hear you randomly say the name ive been known as by internet friends for the last 10 or so years. EXCELLENT name choice
I'm surprised no one used Golisopod as an answer to Dracovish. Golisopod prides itself on Priority moves, has water resist, and really high defensive stats. So you are a resist that takes away Dracovish ability to gain extra power by hitting first, and first impression is assure to always hit something really hard even if they switch out. Also, if the Dracovish switches Golisopod can lay some spikes. But I guess Golisopod is too high maintenance to be considered a viable option.
A check needs to be able to switch in on the threat. Switching in on Dracovish means allowing Fishious Rend to get double power. If Toxapex can't take it well enough, there's no way Golisopod does. The only checks to Dracovish have Water Absorb.
I only just learned Dracozolt (and Arctozolt but it doesn't matter because it's slow) has Bolt Beak, which is basically the exact same move as Fishious Rend except electric type, and it has 10 more base attack than Dracovish with the same speed. Seems the reason it isn't used over the vish is the lack of strong jaw boost (it does have hustle but that sounds risky) and the fact it can't blow up ground types thanks to the different typing of the signature move
game freak giving broken abilities to fish when are they giving more broken abilities to birds instead (they tried with fezandipiti and the mon is ass)
Never understood why Fishious Rend is a fucking biting move... It is an attack that uses it's gills... it's not a biting move. If Game Freak wasn't stupid and decided not to make it get boosted by strong jaw, the mon would have been fine. It would hit like a truck but at least there would be some ways to check it.

It says that Game Freak hasn't put any thought into game balance in their life, something we already knew.
@@HeraldOfOperaAnother excellent example would be Flutter Mane
I've played on a dozen or so up-to-date Pixelmon servers...literally all of them have banned Dracovish to some extent, with 10 of those servers having it banned no matter what. One of them even excluded Dracovish from being required to be caught to have a complete Dex.
the dracovish ban entailed my inevitable downfall on ladder 💔 worst day in human history
Bro this fish got a rival in another fish. Freaking last respects basculegion is a nightmare.
Wait did did you say the pokemon with a move that can be stronger than 2 explosions took a year to be banned???? 😭😭😭
I never thought id really enjoy a powerpoint presentation, but here we are
If you want to keep the gen 8 pokemon being stupid broken chain going, galarian darmanitan should fit well.
Does your pokemon have a water resist? Unless it's 4x, no it doesn't. Does your pokemon have a water weakness? It does now.
In conclusion.
Damage multiplying several times is fucking stupid
Please do a video on palafin next
Palafin is def in the works
All this to see barely any play in 3v3 because dynamax walks it
Hey guys guess what. Tera water dracovish. You’re welcome
Thank you for the Seismitoad reference
Fishious Rend in rain is more than 2 Explosions every turn, you move first always and you don’t die at the end. Why must Nintendo keep making these monstrosities
This is why Dracovish is the Pokemon ever. He kills you and your entire family while yelling "Uno!!!!"
Wow that presentation was so beautiful my tissue box shed a tear!
Damn, I subconsciously said 573 just by looking at it and got it right 😆
252+ Atk Choice Band Strong Jaw Dracovish Fishious Rend (170 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn in Rain: 237-279 (67.3 - 79.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
What’s funny is in national Rex on showdown, you can pair dracovish with chien-pao and terrastalize into a water type. God help us
Take my sub, my like, and please make more lessons professor. I don't wanna miss a class
praise be to the Lord, our God, our Savior, Mr. Fish
can I just say how much of a genuine jump scare it was to hear you randomly say the name ive been known as by internet friends for the last 10 or so years. EXCELLENT name choice
With funny dragon fish, funny ghost fish, and funny fire fish, is it time to recognize ,,math problem fish" as a category of pokemon?
And they couldn’t even ban the move because Arctovish sucks
In the words of a former Pokémon World Champion: “Thank you, Mr Fish.”
No no boingus is cute it's ok
Simple fix:
Strong Jaw shouldn't boost Fisheous Rend
I'm surprised no one used Golisopod as an answer to Dracovish. Golisopod prides itself on Priority moves, has water resist, and really high defensive stats. So you are a resist that takes away Dracovish ability to gain extra power by hitting first, and first impression is assure to always hit something really hard even if they switch out. Also, if the Dracovish switches Golisopod can lay some spikes. But I guess Golisopod is too high maintenance to be considered a viable option.
Golisopod can’t take the hits, much like everyone else
A check needs to be able to switch in on the threat. Switching in on Dracovish means allowing Fishious Rend to get double power. If Toxapex can't take it well enough, there's no way Golisopod does. The only checks to Dracovish have Water Absorb.
Why bother with tanking a hit that you can be immune to instead?
@@carstan62
I feel like it shouldn't get the power boost on a swap out target.
@@dustinbragg1921 It probably shouldn't, but it does.
You should definitely do ogerpon I’m interested in your opinion lol
Boingus is very cute. 10/10 would learn with him again
I only just learned Dracozolt (and Arctozolt but it doesn't matter because it's slow) has Bolt Beak, which is basically the exact same move as Fishious Rend except electric type, and it has 10 more base attack than Dracovish with the same speed. Seems the reason it isn't used over the vish is the lack of strong jaw boost (it does have hustle but that sounds risky) and the fact it can't blow up ground types thanks to the different typing of the signature move
dracovish is the greatest pokémon of all time
Remember when the most powerful abomination of science mankind had yet created was Mewtwo?
You know what’s even scarier than a choice scarf dracovish?
A life orb dracovish in trick room
Live, Laugh, Dracovish
How did they mess up on dracovish plushies, he's just a lil guy😭😭
"UNO! LA LA LA LA LA LA"
-Anime Dracovish
A power point really was the perfect way to present the nightmares i still get from this mon
bro single-handedly made seismitoad viable in ou in something other than sorta gimmicky rain team
Please make one about Miraidon. That thing has insane electric damage.
"Oh no fishious rend is so scary"
Allow me to introduce myself
game freak giving broken abilities to fish
when are they giving more broken abilities to birds instead (they tried with fezandipiti and the mon is ass)
If only the funny bird didnt have the stat spread of Articuno
instructions unclear, i moved second and got destroyed by linoone extremespeed
I calculated in like 5 seconds it has to be in the mid to late 500s.
Guess I am allowed to use it then?
wow that is a lot, thankfully I am passing the class
I hate that I didn’t do the math to get to 573 I just remembered doing that calc years ago lmao
Sir i paid attention when my content creator teachers used this one fossil mathproblem
thank you Mr. Fish
Wait, i thought all these bonuses were additive, are they multiplicative?
Yeah, that’s the big reason why it hits such ludicrous damage
All Pokemon is a math problem when yout think about it.
Dude, you almost hit 50k on this video
actually unbelievable LOL
i run choice band on mine to one shot everything i see :D
baton pass some speed boost / tailwind and swap that scarf for a life orb...
There's a reason that the Pokemon anime's Champion of Champions had one of these on his team.
But can it beat a rat with a headband tho
LOL
Nice username bro
I thought this was about the suffering state of the Galar fossils...
The japanese name is エラがみ (Era Gami). According to Bulbapedia, the translation is Gill Bite.
And thats why he is our fucking champ
I love this its amazing and I can confirm is 100% correct
I think that this is an extremely funny video.
Bro said "𒅌"
these PowerPoints give me life, and I never thought I would say that
