Turns out the reason my dad took me there was because Bill was there signing autographs. And the line literally stretched around and zigzagged through the center hall there. Anyone who says "Don't meet your heroes" clearly didn't have Bill Elliott as theirs.

Got about 15 minutes with Elliot as he sat against a wall exhausted. But when I said something about his car he wouldn't stop explaining the technical questions I asked. Great detail and I think he liked the fact I understood all was he was explaining. That's so badass. In the early 2000's everyone had written off Bill Elliot AND Sterling Marlin. They were just two old guys who's best days on the track were behind them, or so we thought. Then they strapped in a Dodge
Bill was my childhood hero growing up. His near dominance in the mid to late 80's makes me wish I was born a decade earlier. Unfortunately, I was a 90's kid. Admittedly, I only started rooting for him because he drove the McDonald's car, but I stuck with him even through the Evernham years. When he finally got his first win in over seven years at Homestead in 2001, I was elated. It was still the most memorable race for me as a Bill Elliott fan, with the 2002 Brickyard 400 coming a close second.
Was so true when you said my generation remembers Bill Elliot as the flashy red 94… only heard stories of how good he was. And when he won in the red #9 dodge, I was thrilled
Great storytelling as usual and the Violet Evergarden music was a nice surprise. I was sitting here listening to it then realized 'wait a second I recognize this' not expecting to hear it in a NASCAR video of all things. S1ap left anime but I guess the anime never left him lol.

Back from Knoxville. While Tony Stewart dominated (as I knew he would) Bill gave it his best shot and despite engine troubles towards the end he did pretty well for someone who wasn't used to dirt.
He may have never won a points race in the colors but if NASCAR had a best in show paint scheme award Bill no doubt would have won those awards but at the same time considering the paint jobs from 1995 to 2000 were some pretty sweet looking cars the McDonald's Car was just one of many great works of art on the track.

Awesome Bill's late career resurgence with Evernham will always leave us wondering "what if?" with regards to his struggles in his own 94 car. What if instead he had gone to another competitive team? If he still had it at 45 in 2001, he certainly must've had it through the mid 90s and 2000. Roush, Yates, and Penske were competitive Ford teams in that time span - he would have been a good fit at any of them.
It just makes sense. A musical piece piece to convey the sheer skill Bill had and power too. Just like Wing Zero. I always associated that theme with another Nascar driver: Jeff Gordon in his prime (1995-2007). Men like them were unstoppable. Dale Sr, if I had to guess would be Epyon.
I've got a real bad habit of staying in bed long after I've woken up, so hearing Kow Ohtani's music play over Awesome Bill's 80s dominance basically shot me right out of bed.
@@christopherwall2121 When I first watch the video and herd theme, I was taken aback because I thought for a split second, my phone glitch out because I have the song on my phone. *BUT NO* . That was from the video!
I've always loved those guys who race at the top division and never really quit, much like Stirling Moss and Jason Plato did and are doing today, I can see Bill being one of those guys who just keeps on going
My dad's favorite driver, I still have many fond memories watching races with him. He would take the Nascar calendar, pull out all the pictures of the Chevy drivers, and place them around the dartboard in the garage. Our basement had a black and white checkered floor and Bill and other Nascar memorabilia everywhere. I still have all my Racing Champions cars with all the versions of Bill's 94 cars. He's a huge connecting piece between me and my dad who passed away before Bill's resurgence in the Dodge #9. And even though Chase drives a Chevy, he's my favorite driver now.
My Favorite ride is Bill Elliot Budweiser 11 So Sweet. I have a 1/64 1 of 100 , still in the box with the hood opened It’s dope. It’s the legit kind that Hood opens with rubber tires. It was so hard not to take that out of the package as a kid but now I’m Glad I didn’t. I have a 3 Dale Earnhardt of the same style. They’re Dope.
Got to meet Bill Elliott at kingston raceway in alabama he was racing chase in late models chase was still in the Arca series! (Met chase also both were great!)
Good work Slap. Was born in 88 and an Elliott fan from then til retirement. Became a Kenseth fan when he subbed in for. I’ll at Dover. Now a Chase fan. Good stuff.
I got to meet Bill a couple times at Eastbay Raceway Park! My dad ran late models so we were ALWAYS there and Bill would either be up in the stands watching the race like everyone else or doing big signings/meet an greets. He was my dads idol.. Coolest dude ever, equally kind as is humble.
Great video man. Chase seems a lot like his dad. Very humble and soft spoken, always putting the blame on himself saying he can do better. I don't know why so many people hate on him, but oh well.
My 1st & only model I’ve ever built thus far is Bill Elliot’s 9 Dodge It became Kasey Kahnes the very next Season but it’s still Bill’s & has his name on it & that’s why I built it. It was dope though, I had to paint the whole thing , every piece , the body , all that , just decals is all that came to put on and it turned out great. Looks Official. Proud of my paint job on it and even the decal work.
I'm not even a NASCAR fan and I love Bill. I am however a Ford loyalist, so that beautiful red Coors Thunderbird is a major factor, as is that Talladega lap record - 342.483km/h is just... terrifying.
Yeah, I grew up in an Elliott house and I was always so excited to see him growing up watching with my dad in the 90s, it's wild to see that was him at his low to an extent but still glad to see he bounced back. It's actually cause of Bill my favorite numbers are 9 and 94 respectively
You forgot to mention he was a cut tire and a couple laps away from winning his final race as a full time driver at homestead. That would have just been the icing on the cake. Plus, the man once broke his femur, the strongest bone in the human body, in a crash...then refused the stretcher and walked to the ambulance.
I remember being at the Bill Elliott Museam in Dawsonville and seeing Ernie and thinking it was Bill. They look A LOT alike ... or at least they used to
Thank you Slap, 11:15-11:36, I totally agree with you. For those of us that got into NASCAR later in the 90s, guys like Bill Elliott and Kyle Petty were towards of the pack every week. It was crazy to find out that they were stars (especially Bill) before our time.
9:49 - I mustve been a spiteful kid. I used to wonder if it was personal for Terry as well after he left Junior and that's why he wanted to take that lap led away from the #11 car. I'm sure it wasn't like that but it would add another layer to an already memorable day. Great video S1ap. You are the man.
I'm slowly but surely getting into Nascar and Sh0e, I can respect your knowledge on the sport and also the use of Legend of Zero. Always nice to find another Gundam fan.
I wonder if he used the Zero System in 1985 and dominated but then it took him over and he crumbled until he mastered it later... would explain why he didn’t win it all in 85
My dad was a huge Bill Elliott fan and I got into NASCAR through watching him with Dodge and watching Kasey Kahne in the car after him, I fell out of the sport for a period of time after Kasey left the #9, but when I heard Bill’s son was going to be racing I tuned back in and haven’t stopped ever since!

You forgot to mention that he's VERY active in SVRA. Great Video!
I'd love to know what his nickname would have been if he'd have been born in Macon or something.
Maconill Elliot?, yeah this one sucks.
Winning bacon from Macon. Get it, because you bring home the bacon? Good thing he’s from dawsonville 😂
Still million dollar bill.
*after winning the Winston million* Makin’ bacon from Macon?
Awesome bill from maconville lol
I don't even watch NASCAR (F1 fan) but I'm subscribed to this channel for the quality of each video.
My favorite driver of all time and the reason I love the Ford Thunderbird.
@4:25 Hot Damn Legend of Zero still gives me chills!
Epic Elliot
This guy's story telling ability worth at least a million subscriber
My Favorite ride is Bill Elliot Budweiser 11
So Sweet. I have a 1/64 1 of 100 , still in the box with the hood opened
It’s dope.
Wow, 2.5 laps faster than any other driver. That’s maybe THE most incredible drive I’ve ever heard of. Alan Kuwicki looks strangely Seth McFarland.
I have been waiting for someone to cover AWESOME BILL! Thank you
Yes!
Great video on my favourite NASCAR driver, thanks Slapshoes
Bills only win in the Busch Series in 1993, was my first ever NASCAR race attended.
Great video man. Chase seems a lot like his dad. Very humble and soft spoken, always putting the blame on himself saying he can do better. I don't know why so many people hate on him, but oh well.
A vocal minority of Chase’s fans suck though
I am forever a Tony Stewart fan, but I will always admire Bill for what he accomplished.
It’s a good day when s1ap uploads ! 💯
Bill is an absolutel legend here in GA
Awesome Bill From Dawsonville!!!
My 1st & only model I’ve ever built thus far is Bill Elliot’s 9 Dodge
It became Kasey Kahnes the very next Season but it’s still Bill’s & has his name on it & that’s why I built it.
It was dope though, I had to paint the whole thing , every piece , the body , all that , just decals is all that came to put on and it turned out great. Looks Official.
Proud of my paint job on it and even the decal work.
I had the opportunity to meet both Bill, and Ernie. They were very down to earth and more than willing to sign autographs.
I watched the '85 Winston 500 live and was amazed. Wish someone could post the full race.
Me to I watched it live also an it kills me they want post it on here they want post the 125 bill won by 38 seconds either
Awesome bill from dawsonville was my guy growing up after I got to meet him at loudon in 99
You forgot to mention he was a cut tire and a couple laps away from winning his final race as a full time driver at homestead. That would have just been the icing on the cake. Plus, the man once broke his femur, the strongest bone in the human body, in a crash...then refused the stretcher and walked to the ambulance.
I thought he lost fuel
That 1992 finale is forever an onrunning topic on this channel lol
Because 2 of those drivers would have changed NASCAR history forever...
@@kramnull8962 Yeah, Exactly, I don't have a problem with it.
The reason my dad drove an 86 T-bird. Another great video!
I remember being at the Bill Elliott Museam in Dawsonville and seeing Ernie and thinking it was Bill. They look A LOT alike ... or at least they used to
I was originally thinking, “Ernie Irvan” but then I remembered that Bill had an older brother
Just catching up on this. Another fantastic one my man. Well done.
I was *not* expecting some Gundam Wing music in my NASCAR content lol
When S1ap uploads twice in the span of two weeks
His fan base: impossible
I'm slowly but surely getting into Nascar and Sh0e, I can respect your knowledge on the sport and also the use of Legend of Zero. Always nice to find another Gundam fan.
Funny you bring up how your generation knew him for the McDonald’s ride
I knew him as that guy who drove the little Debbie car
I knew Bill Elliott as the guy who Drove the #91 Evernham Dodge Car in 2005 since I started Watching NASCAR in 2005
God these are such amazing videos. Thank you for your work and dedication 😎
Awesome video...
You should do a video series ranking the Hall Of Fame classes. Just a thought.
I love you used the Epyon theme song at 4:30!!! You are awesome!!!
I wonder if he used the Zero System in 1985 and dominated but then it took him over and he crumbled until he mastered it later... would explain why he didn’t win it all in 85
Awesome Bill From Dawsonville is one of the best nicknames ever, Up there with The Intimidator and Fireball
Bill elliott is my all time favorite Nascar driver
Am i the only one who gets so excited when seeing a knew slap video on youtube and clicks on it as fast as Kyle Larson has been recently?
*sad dale jr noises*
My dad was a huge Bill Elliott fan and I got into NASCAR through watching him with Dodge and watching Kasey Kahne in the car after him, I fell out of the sport for a period of time after Kasey left the #9, but when I heard Bill’s son was going to be racing I tuned back in and haven’t stopped ever since!
