"WHAT ARE YOU?!?!" "............ I'm Mando. seriously, we just met each other this morning and talked on the ship the whole time, do you not remember?"
You guys like this episode you should look into the Fantasy Flight Star Wars system. There's three books: Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, and Force and Destiny. Each one has different themes to fit multiple styles of play. This episode specifically would be more an Edge of the Empire setting, which involves smugglers, bounty hunters, and basically your average criminal-types that live in the Outer Rim. I could even point out specific character builds you could use to make each of these characters in that game. And you can, in fact, make them all, with all the abilities displayed in the episode, including the -stormtrooper's- mechanical mounted blaster, the Devaronian's high resilience and brawn, the droid piloting the ship through a slicing port instead of with the controls... It's *all there*.
@@CanisMythson Dude, if we're all saying "Hey this looks like an episode from a tabletop RPG" then it's safe to say we're familiar with the Star Wars tabletop RPGs. If we weren't we wouldn't have noticed the similarities.
Mando reminds me so much of Batman. He has so many different gadgets, he’s always 2 steps ahead of everyone , the way he just kicks everyone’s asses... And I love that!
Yeah, you’re not the only one. It’s honestly one of my big worries for the show, Mandalorians have always been “The Batman” of the Star Wars universe, doing with tech and clever thinking what Force-wielders would normally do. And, like a lot of DC properties when it comes to Batman, its very easy for them to go “Well, their unique tech and clever thinking allows them to punch above their weight and that’s really impressive” to “BATMAN CAN EASILY KILL SUPERMAN EVERY SINGLE TIME BECAUSE HE’S THE SMARTEST PERSON EVER AND ALWAYS HAS KRYPTONITE” type annoyances. One of the parts of the first season of Mandalorian I really enjoyed was how firmly the show skewed away from that. Mando got bodied a lot, he needed to be rescued a lot, he got fooled and tricked and overpowered plenty, even though he usually would come out ahead. He’s not some sort of flawless uber-badass, he’s a very competent, capable but still mortal person. I really hope they keep that up, showing him failing here and there helps his big successful moments stand out all the more.
Two things I took away from StarWars this year: 1. Starwars is not outdated and new and exciting stores are absolutely plausible 2. Starwars would be better handled as a series of unique stories rather than grand arcs
yeah, at least until they actually figure out a story that needs to be a 3 episode movie deal. but it is pretty sad that they barely touch the universe in the movies.
I strongly disagree, seeing Yoda fighting over the fate of the galaxy was pure Star Wars, and I would like to see more physical old grandmasters fighting about everything in a groundbreaking battle. Please don’t get me wrong, the mandalorian worked, but it‘s slightly overrated and didn‘t fully make me thrill.
@@luclin92 What universe are you talking about? Putting X-wings, Tie-fighters and having lightsabers go swoosh isn't enough for the Space Opera that is Star Wars? It's really cool to see Star Wars thrive so well in a new environment. Don't get me wrong, I fall for every bit as cheesy as they make it. Even episode 9. But if the story is a failure, it weighs down the entire movie. Star Wars now has a spectrum of good and bad content ranging from epic to grounded.

@@andyskyfall3891 No one is invincible. His Mandalorians are clearly still great warriors, but just because you're a great warrior, doesn't mean you can't have your ass beaten.
@@andyskyfall3891 completely agreed, just run with the characters having plot armour in the OT, don't canonise the bad aim. Rebels already did a good job of making the galaxy's most dangerous military look completely incompetent. Making their aim canonically terrible is such a bad idea. Mandalorian armour has already proven capable of withstanding some blaster bolts and with the amount these guys miss it's unrealistic they would be able to take out a group of the most feared warriors in the galaxy. Also, just me or did that shooting joke go on wayyyyy too long- only to segway into child abuse. I want to add, looking back on this comment, I do not hate star wars rebels. I enjoy it much like I enjoy clone wars or resistance. But stormtroopers look incompetent regardless.
"he is known by many as the man who redeemed the prequels" no, he's not. The prequels are great on their own regardless of TCW. TCW is just prequel-story combined with good voice acting and no "bad" dialogue. That's why TCW is so good. It's the prequels minus all the "problems" the prequels had.
this episode showed the moral ground of Din Darjin. He tried to reason with the republic guard, and he didn't kill any of his crew members for the job even though they tried to.
This what i like about the writing of Din Djarin he is a well written character, tough, badass but he has a moral compass too. I just hope he doesnt get over-shadowed by all the familiar characters they bringing into season 2.
@Dave Skywalker Oh okay, i never actually noticed this was happening haha. I love both Rogue One and Din Djarin as "The Mandalorian", they are the only things that feel "Star Wars" to come out of Disney.
@@melkor3496 watch the scene where he fights the Mandalorian in episode 3 while the armorer watches. As they hold their knifes to each other’s necks, you can see his vibroblade vibrating.
Revenge of the Sith is my personal favorite Star Wars movie. Other than the god-awful love scenes, it’s a solid film. Plus, with the final season of clone wars to watch with it, it elevates it to the goat status as far as I’m concerned.
It doesn't get much better than KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2. That was peak Mandalorian storyline. The sheer amount of history that came because of those games firmly established the Mandalorian way of life and their role in the galaxy.
After escaping the prison he meets back up with his partner huell and together they helped the boss of the biggest blue spice dealer in the entire galxey and stashed his credits in the desert of tatooien
As much as i liked his character in that episode of the Mando, i do wish they would have just covered his face and had him play somekind of alien race instead. It would have been enough for us to just know and hear that, that is Bill Burr underneath just like with Nick Nolte and his Uggnaut character.
I did like this episode overall, but my main issue was the the crew all came across as morons for the entire first half. Compared to Mando's quiet professionalism, The big dumb guy, the crazy knife chick, and Bill burrs insecurity all meant they struggled to seem like they belonged in the same circles as Mando in terms of reputation and skill, and in turn meant there was very little tension regarding if Mando would be able to kick the shit out of them once they inevitably betrayed him. Obviously, they're not in the same league as Mando, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was made clear that there was a greater parity in skill and experience, rather then having an extremely proficient bounty hunter paired up with a group of nobodies.
You may think this episode was the best out of the Mandalorian and that it's what brings the fans together, but I disagree. The thing I hate about this episode is the fact that Mando didn't kill any of them. I feel like for a morally grey character, he should of killed these assholes
Yeah, I was just thinking they seem kinda goofy to me. At the start they seem fine, but as we continue you start to see that they're not as refined in a way as other bounty hunters we've seen. Or rather, I prefer or only like the more refined ones and that's why I didn't like this ep yh.
12:40 I thought that forest being Mustafar was the stupidest thing ever too until I played Vader Immortal on the Occulus, where you return the life back to Mustafar which used to be a luscious forest planet like Endor’s moon. Yes it’s cannon. When you beat the game they even literally say that life returning to the planet will take a long time, explaining why it’s still smoky and red with skinny trees. I don’t think it’s fair you have to get a VR headset to learn about that but still.
@@Icybubba Obviously. I meant during when they were filming the scene. By the time they went to post production of cause they could add a Space shot of Mustafar
That's... one of the stupidest things I've heard in awhile. Life already existed on the planet, it being a lava world doesn't mean it's dead. Incredibly stupid decision tbh.
Well he still got the station and everyone in it turned into space debris, the only reason the others lived is because they were on a prison ship and what could be more humiliating than putting them there?
I mean it was the response to the station and his old "mentor", and he clearly intended for the others to die in the cold depths of space. He was surprised in Season 2 when he found out they were alive and in New Republic custody, lol.
The prisoner feels like a classic TV episode. A short, condensed story that has a beginning, middle and end. Its not really pushing the main storyline forward. It really feels like I'm watching cable when I see this one, which is a huge achievement in a universe so heavily built on massive storylines. Really well done.
"Make sure you clean up your mess. - Mayfeld to Mando after the latter killed the droids singlehandedly "Sorry about the mess." - Han Solo to the droid-barring landlord after killing Greedo, tossing him a credit denomination
Finally, some more appreciation for episode 6! It’s an amazing episode with incredible music, set design, character design, world-building, cameos, action scenes, etc. Sure, there is some iffy acting but it’s not terrible and it’s very brief and excusable since it stems from weird character traits like the Twi-Lek’s hissing which is explainable in universe.
I *FREAKED OUT* when I saw the security droids and Mando started fighting them. I'm a big prequels fan and have been super bummed by how Lucasfilm has ignored the prequels, and it was such a rush to have something even remotely hinting at the DNA of the prequels (battle/security droids).
This was actually my second least favourite episode, behind The Gunslinger (Although I at least LIKED every episode). The two Twi'lek characters were SO obnoxious. Did love seeing Bill Burr, Clancy Brown and Richard Ayoade (Hearing him, anyway)

It’s good because Filoni and Favreau don’t feel the need to please fans in every way, but also respects them and knows their feelings are valid. This way, they respect what came before but try to build something fresh. Also, Filoni is always the biggest Star Wars fan in the room. JJ and Rian have nothing on him in this regard XD
You're absolutely right that The Mandalorien and things like it are the future of Star Wars. People that understand Star Wars' DNA and can take the setting and tell new and interesting stories in it rather than endlessly retreading old ground in a blind effort to capture the spirit of the originals without understanding it. And people who understand that, while they might have been executed poorly, to varying degrees, the prequels and, yes, even the sequels had some worthwhile ideas and you can actually elevate them if you do them justice in new material. Dave Filoni, of all people understands that, since his Clone Wars really elevated the prequels after the fact, and Favreau has repeatedly shown himself to be a solid filmmaker who understands how to fit into the tone of someone else's material without just being a straight copy (Lion King notwithstanding).
The prisoner, oddly enough, was one of my lease favorite episodes. I gave it a rewatch and it’s still great, still wouldn’t call it the best oddly enough.
It's kinda crazy in a way that Bill Burr could be in a Star Wars TV show, and you'd actually enjoy his character and want him to come back after one showing. I'd personally want him and the others to be recurring villains. And that, from a single episode, has be caring about all three of them more than Kylo Ren, which is shocking to me.

When Rian Johnson and JJ Abrams said their respective movies would tie in with all the movies, including the Prequels, that's actually what they meant: one offhand line. In Last Jedi, it was when Luke said something along the lines of "at the height of their power, the jedi allowed Darth Sideous to take over" and in Rise of Skywalker, it was Palpatine's "unnatural abilities" line. That's it. That's what Disney Lucasfilm considers tying together all the movies. Thank god for Dave Filoni
I mean, Luke's general disillusionment in TLJ, plus Yoda acknowledging that they were far from perfect, are strong thematic connections to the prequels. Although, Duel of Fates' use of Coruscant and other prequel elements would've been the sort of unity this episode brought.

It honestly is everything wrong with the show imo. The set was boring and repetitive ever scene was sucked of tension and it was completely disconnected from the story around it. The whole suicide squad couldn't have been more textbook stereotypical. Strong guy who looks evil, Bill Burr, attractive killing lady who has mysterious connections to the main character. Besides the droid who I actually found really fun and pretty interesting and the action which was really great this episode felt very hollow to me. However I feel all of the episodes to follow and the first couple episodes of this season were way more tense and complex. The show has glaring issues but theres so much to love about it that makes it really enjoyable, at it's best you forget all of the issues you had and just enjoy it. This was not it's best, still alright but not on par
You described the state of Star Wars perfectly FFV, I myself enjoy the sequels, Originals and prequels as a whole with Revenge of the Sith being my favorite. However I found Mandalorian to be the most uplifting and innovative Star Wars content I have seen in a long time that surpasses the sequels in many ways, that I can admit even though I personally enjoy them. I also remember when the prequels were so despised that I was ashamed to be a Star Wars fan because of how poorly they treated The creator, and even now the same thing is happening which saddens me. The mandalorian and Clone wars are the only things that most Star Wars fans can all enjoy without being insulted or threatened. Fingers crossed Season 2 of The Mandolorian delivers, because that’s about the only thing that’ll keep Star Wars alive at this point.

When it comes to the new appearance of Mustafar, that's actually yet another video game reference. In the new Star Wars: Vader Immortal VR game, you restore life back to the dying Mustafer, which turns it from the cracked, volcanic planet it was to what it is now.

It was on perhaps the tenth watch on this episode when I noticed that Mando subdues Xi'an with one of her own throwing blades, the only one that had not hit his armour. He pulls it out of his skin and holds it to her throat. Something that was foreshadowed when we first saw her on Ran's spacestation, and she held a blade to Mando's throat.
When I saw the title of this video, I hoped it was about this episode. I think I’ve watched this episode and the IG speeder bike sequence from the finale more than any other episode/part of the Mandalorian. The characters were fun. There were so many references and cameos. Bill Burr worked as Bill Burr. The X-wing sequence was so enjoyable. I look forward to season two.
12:44 no no no no no you don't understand. there was a super obscure VR game that featured you being a secret apprentice to Vader on Mustafar (canonical version of Starkiller?). In the EU there was something about Mustafar being a world corrupted by the dark side of the force so in the VR game you stand up to Vader and return the planet to balance which slowly starts the healing process. It's super obscure and kind of weird to reference in a movie. also might I add that Mustafar has been corrupted by the dark side for so long that some life has adapted to the lava environment which means by healing the planet you are probably putting quite a few species extinct
I found the Jar Jar nonsequitur in Aftermath Empire's End kinda heartwarming, sure Jar Jar is homeless and ostracized for his part in helping Palpy come to power, but now he found a place where his wacky antics can be appreciated entertaining refugee orphans
Actually there is canonical reason that Mustafar looks like that in Episode 9. A virtual reality game called Vader Immortal came out a few years ago that covers what happened to it and caused the lava to subside and vegetation to begin growing again.

"he is known by many as the man who redeemed the prequels"
no, he's not.
I love moral hero leads... they're so few nowadays especially with most marvel heroes killing all their villains instantly.
This what i like about the writing of Din Djarin he is a well written character, tough, badass but he has a moral compass too. I just hope he doesnt get over-shadowed by all the familiar characters they bringing into season 2.
@Dave Skywalker Sorry could you elaborate more plz, what do you mean "Rogue One" scenario?

I don’t think it’s fair you have to get a VR headset to learn about that but still.

This is my favorite episode to because for once killing is not the response to every problem and explores the moral consequences for once in star wars
I'm almost sure there were lots of deaths at the end
Well he still got the station and everyone in it turned into space debris, the only reason the others lived is because they were on a prison ship and what could be more humiliating than putting them there?
he killed everyone he met except for the three people he worked with, and he imprisoned them. I think the guards at the prison will kill them aswell.
- Mayfeld to Mando after the latter killed the droids singlehandedly
"Sorry about the mess."
- Han Solo to the droid-barring landlord after killing Greedo, tossing him a credit denomination

Earliest I've ever been to a full fat video
The prisoner is such a slept on episode

It honestly is everything wrong with the show imo. The set was boring and repetitive ever scene was sucked of tension and it was completely disconnected from the story around it. The whole suicide squad couldn't have been more textbook stereotypical. Strong guy who looks evil, Bill Burr, attractive killing lady who has mysterious connections to the main character. Besides the droid who I actually found really fun and pretty interesting and the action which was really great this episode felt very hollow to me.

Thanks alot for making this video,i seen this episode very underrated cus it wasnt an episode tied to the storyline of the season but im happy you put in the spotlight the episode propper.
When it comes to the new appearance of Mustafar, that's actually yet another video game reference. In the new Star Wars: Vader Immortal VR game, you restore life back to the dying Mustafer, which turns it from the cracked, volcanic planet it was to what it is now.
It's funny how this is my least favorite episode, but still one of my favorite pieces of star wars media. This just goes to show how amazing this show is. Even at its (imo) worsed it still manages to be the best
An exception, this video is definitely an exception. Much appreciate it much praise and much thanks!!!
Pit droids from the Phantom Meance were used hilariously in ep.5
*More Proof That Filoni needs to be in charge*
Actually there is canonical reason that Mustafar looks like that in Episode 9. A virtual reality game called Vader Immortal came out a few years ago that covers what happened to it and caused the lava to subside and vegetation to begin growing again.
