Thanks for the in-depth video. I just got mine in blue dial today. Didn't realise they cost 10k euros a year ago, I paid £7368 from a reseller for an April 2024 watch which is unworn with full set and both tags.
Great all around review. That 21mm to 15mm taper is what makes the Rolex oysters stand out amongst the crowd though. They look better and are more comfortable than any other oyster out there.
many thanks for the vid, another gem and brutaly honest which i appreciate . . elegant watch . . like the hands, i am so sick of mercedes hands .. weird ( to me ) that the logo replaces the 12 oclock . . yes to male link not being ideal and blow me over No glidelock . . . happy new year ps . . i prefer the modified pagani you made
I agree with you about the smooth vs fluted bezel. A fluted bezel looks just wonderful on a DJ 36, which I also have, but the larger, wider and flatter fluted bezel looks ,to my eye, out of proportion on the DJ 41. I like your channel. Liked and subbed.
This is absolutely lovely piece. Looks really good on your wrist. I agree on the high polish centre links, even though I think it matches the high polish nature of the case. The white dial isn’t something you see every day, good choice. Really is a curiosity that this doesn’t use AR coating on the whole dial and only on the cyclops magnifier. Isn’t there something that you can distinguish if a piece has AR from the way the laser etched crown looks? Wear yours in good health! Thanks for the review!
The laser etched coronet is visible with a loupe or macro lens on sapphire crystals with and without AR coating. Rolex use clear AR coating so it doesn't affect the legibility of the etched coronet. Regards, #WR4K
@@watchreviews4k Let me explain, apparently it is like this: Watches without anti-reflective coating or with anti-reflective coating on the cyclops have one circle inside the laser-etched crystal. Watches with anti-reflective treatment on the underside of the crystal have two circles inside the laser-etched crystal. Watches with anti-reflective coating on the top and on the underside have two circles and a horizontal line in the center.
I don't need to look at the laser etching on a sapphire crystal to tell if it has AR coating or not Kurt. I don't care what the laser etching looks like as it isn't something I ever look at on a watch. I am only interested if the sapphire crystal has AR coating or not. If it does have AR I just need to know if its double as per a Seamaster, or single as per a Submariner Date. I dislike double AR as the top side AR coating is prone to being scuffed or scratched. Regards, #WR4K
Apart from the retail and market price. How would you price this watch adequate to its value and quality, considering that manufactures like San Martin and Cronos, Pagani, Etc.. offer similar value at less than 500
Very thorough review of this model of Rolex. It is clear that you like the model. But why purchase it if your conclusion is that it is poor value? Why not go for a Longines where you will get not just good looks but certainly good value?
A fine example of beautiful engineering done to an exceptional standard. Is it worth 10k. To the owner 100% yes I like watches and bracelets with both mirror polished and brushed finished if done well although lots of collectors like a full satin brushed finish.
I don't think think the pu plastic leather box case would be able to outlast the watch. The outer boxes must be manufactured by a different company. My favourite watch reviewer 4k heart ❤️
@@MarkDanger777 this is very true.. but that still add so much value for the price. Look at Monta watches, the quality for $1,200 bucks is incredible. And on par with the low tier Rolex
Yes, your payment is held in an Escrow account until you receive the watch and confirm it is good. Then the funds are released to the seller. My advice is to buy from a dealer, rather than privately. You can read through the dealers feedback to check their reputation is good. Regards, #WR4K
I would like to see larger date display instead of the magnifier as seen on the Glashütte. If Rolex did this and elimated the magnifier, it would be a major winner IMO. C'mon Rolex, innovate and kill it!
Poor value but it retains its value. I would describe poor value as something that does not retain value. If one was to walk out the door and lose 5k from a 10k purchase then that would be poor value. Historically this item should remain very close to the purchase price. Moreover this watch should last a lifetime with servicing, again indicating good value. I would summarise it as a high cost to entry and yes this is a negative to almost all.
"did you spend $10,000 for a fancy box" No, I paid 10,000 Euro (10,427 USD) for a Datejust 41 watch. "would you prefer spending $11,000 and have them make the box out of rosewood?" No, I wouldn't pay 11,000 USD for a Datejust 41 with a rosewood watch box. Rosewood watch boxes do not cost 1000 USD. Regards, #WR4K
I appreciate Rolex brand heritage, and the Caliber 3235 is a technically excellent movement. I also appreciate the Datejust is an iconic original design, rather than being a homage. Lastly Rolex is unusual in that their pieces appreciate in value with time, rather than depreciating in value as per many brands. For example a 50 year vintage Rolex is worth more than its original purchase price. Regards, #WR4K
I love the watch and video. But the clasp coronate is debossed; not embossed. Embossing is when lettering/emblems/etc are pressed into something. The opposite for debossing.
You are mistaken. Embossing: carve, mould, or stamp a design on a surface or object so that it stands out in relief. Debossing: stamp a design into the surface of an object so that it is indented. The Datejust 41 clasp coronet stands out in relief, therefore is embossed. The Oyster Perpetual 41 clasp coronet is indented, therefore is debossed. Regards, #WR4K

The rolex oyster is the perfect intemporal design, just like the iconic porsche 911,perfect,minimalist,and elegant..love it
One of the easiest subscriptions I've ever enjoyed. Best wishes to you and my thanks.
Great (honest) review. I respect that you acknowledged the poor value.

To what extent do you think the certified used Rolex program will affect prices of Rolex sourced from the grey market?
None John. Regards, #WR4K

Value retention. Rolex hold their value, or appreciate in value. Longines depreciate in value. Regards, #WR4K
I'm not a Rolex fan boy, but this is a nice watch. The colour of the dial is perfect and much better than black in my humble opinion.

got exactly the same model. Greattt
It is lovely and i get it but I honestly would rather own 30 different San Martin watches
30 san Martin watches would be worth close to nothing in 2 years, the Rolex would presumably retain 70% of it's value after 20 years
@@MarkDanger777 I'm well aware..

Yes, because Chrono24 has verified the piece is correct (not fake). Regards, #WR4K
Great to see that WR4K consideres this as POOR value even though it is EXCELLENT quality. The reality being is, it is barely a 1000 euro piece.

so you don't like the box... did you spend $10,000 for a fancy box... would you prefer spending $11,000 and have them make the box out of rosewood?
What's the point of your comment exactly?

Debossing: stamp a design into the surface of an object so that it is indented.

Wrong I’m afraid. Opposite is the case. Debossing is stamping into the surface of an object. Embossing stands proud.
