Those people are a breed of human that I could never be apart of. The most disrespectful paparazzi get the best shots. It’s a competition to see if you can be a bigger a-hole then the person next to you and then you “win” by getting a better shot. Pretty crazy stuff. They are just doing their job but it is way out of line and been that way for a long time. I believe there needs to be some sort of laws put in place but nothing can be done about filming from a public place like a sidewalk in front of the house. That would go against the first amendment.

I’m thinking of his family. My son died April 19 2019. He was a Marine and only 34 years old. Ben was hit by a car in Palm Desert the day after returning from Iraq. We took care of him for 14 years. Losing a child is something that profoundly changes you, there is no recovering from the loss. It’s the loss of so many hopes and dreams. My deepest sympathies to family.
I can't imagine, the relief upon his return that nothing happened overseas and then to pass at home. I just can't even begin to imagine, I'm so sorry 😔💔

You absolutely did it right Scott, you always do. Some celebrities touch us in a way that's unexplainable. They just become a part of our lives. They bring us joy, happiness, good times and unforgettable memories. When we lose them it's like losing a family member. Love has no bounds and so we grow to love them like our dearest friends. Sometimes, we even get to see them through their television shows and performances more often than our closest friends or even family. Sometimes they bring us sadness too, like now. We feel the loss almost as greatly as the persons family does. We are blessed by celebrities though because of the legacy they leave behind that we can watch over and over again. I think everyone that comes across our lives leaves some kind of footprint behind. Celebrities do it in the biggest way though because they keep showing up. What a kind gesture to donate the proceeds to Matthew Perry's favorite fund. He would have loved that and it's a wonderful way to honor him. Thank you, Scott, for doing this video. I watched “Fools Rush In” again a few nights ago - what a handsome, charming, and funny man he was ❤ He and Matt LeBlanc had such great chemistry - they were an incredible comedic duo. As a Canadian and Gen Xer, this is a terrible hurtful loss for me personally and I never met him. I grew up watching him, Growing Pains, Charles in Charge, Friends. But even more special was how he looked at addiction and how he tried so hard and wanted to help others. That is how I will remember him. Thank you for being so respectful Scott.

As a recovering heroin addict and heart transplant pt this hits so close to home. I am so sad Matthew was so much more then an actor. He did so much for people with addictions that wanted help. He helped change many people's life for the better. He has left a beautiful legacy and a giant hoke in recovery. Scott I'm so sorry about your mom.

I am so greatful my addiction has been removed to date. Tomorrow could bring it back but rt now I feel good. My biggest fear was leaving my 2 sons behind. I saw what my best friends young children have had to go through. I wish you all the love and the best life ever.

Reading his book really made me feel like I’d connected with Matt as a person, beyond my love of Chandler. It really feels like he was stolen from us at a time where he finally felt he’d got a handle on his disease. When he’d found some happiness & calm from the chaos of addiction. That’s so tragic!

I was one of those guys who thought I was too cool to watch a show like friends back when I was younger. Then I met my fiancé in 2018 and she made me watch it because I made her watch Star Wars. Chandler and Joey were the reason I fell in love with the show. Unfortunately last year I lost her to cancer and haven’t been able to watch it since but I know one day I will again because it was “our show” to watch together forever. RIP Matthew and thank you for all the laughs you brought her and myself. 🙏🏽

My sincere condolances to you @ScottonTape and to all who enjoyed and admired the work Matthew Perry gifted all of us. You hit the nail right on the head about why and how it can be so upsetting/devastating/crushing when a celebrity passes that meant so much to us. I would offer an additional perspective if I may; it is also how they made you feel. Yes, there is escapism but there is always that song that got you through your first break up, loss of someone, or anything poignant that mattered to you. I was 14 when Freddie Mercury died. I'm a life long musician and Queen was my generation's Beatles. We heard the news late at night on the radio and I had been in bed listening to my Walkman when I heard. My Dad had heard on his radio at the same time. I cried myself to sleep on my Dad's lap at the age of 14. I am still saddened when I think of his horrible death and the music never written or shared. I'm sure there are some Matthew Perry fans who feel the same way. This is normal to feel this way when someone made you feel the way they did and were there during the good times and the bad. To those who are feeling hit hard, you have come to the right place. Scott's people have the same heart when it comes to people that mattered to each other. You did a good job, Scott. You always do. Was not expecting his passing at all. Feels like just recently I was watching you talk about the Friends' building. The fact that you were able to be in the area so soon after his passing to talk about him and make a place for people to come to grieve is very fitting. my mom is a huge fan of the Friends sitcom tv show my mom was born and raised around the sitcom shows and the Friends tv show was her #1 favorite sitcom show of all time she has always told me that Chandler was the most funniest character that she's ever seen on the show it just made her so happy that she got to tell her own son about Chandler was played by Matthew Perry I don't know how I am gonna tell her that he passed. I have cried on and off for the past 5 days since hearing the devastating news of Matthew's passing. Even though we didn't know him personally, we feel like we did. Friends is one of my all time favourite shows and it was my Mom's favourite show and she passed from cancer 3 weeks before the finale. She just wanted to live long enough to see the final show of Friends. My daughters are now huge Friends fans as well and we do Friends marathons at the cottage. There have been a few celebrity deaths that have hit me hard, John Lennon, George Harrison and a few others that have touched my soul and now Matthew's passing is one of the deaths that I think will affect me for many years to come. I knew a guy, a great dad, that was working on his pond in his Bobcat, he got to a step angle and fell out and was knocked out after hitting his head and ended up drowning in the pond. Death is hard and is very tragic. You were very respectful and did an awesome job. It’s still hard to believe that an actor from a show in our generation, not our parents, has passed away. Mathew was my favorite on the show and will be greatly missed.

I so admired his courage, to show up and work despite usually feeling so terrible because of his addictions and for never giving up trying to get better. It knocked me sick when I watched a video of Matthews father breaking down in the car crying and some reporter was like 'how are you? Are you devastated?' No he's jumping for fucking joy🙄🤦♀️morons, I was heartbroken when I heard about this because I loved Friends and always watched it and Matthew always seemed like such a great guy, it's so sad because his personal life wasnt so great and when you hear stories like he just wanted a wife and kids but never got it or when you hear about his struggles and how he doesnt remember filming 3 years of Friends or creatibg some of the iconic lines on it, your heart breaks for him, RIP Matthew❤❤

I really liked his portrayal in Fools Rush In and the bits I caught of that movie he did as a teacher. I think he was up there with Bill Murray with his comedy. I listened to his autobiography. The passing of Matthew Perry is so sad 😢 Especially having read his book, his untimely death is so tragic. He was so hopeful and seemed to be on a really good way. Those people are a breed of human that I could never be apart of. The most disrespectful paparazzi get the best shots. It’s a competition to see if you can be a bigger a-hole then the person next to you and then you “win” by getting a better shot. Pretty crazy stuff. They are just doing their job but it is way out of line and been that way for a long time. I believe there needs to be some sort of laws put in place but nothing can be done about filming from a public place like a sidewalk in front of the house. That would go against the first amendment.

I’m thinking of his family. My son died April 19 2019. He was a Marine and only 34 years old. Ben was hit by a car in Palm Desert the day after returning from Iraq. We took care of him for 14 years. Losing a child is something that profoundly changes you, there is no recovering from the loss. It’s the loss of so many hopes and dreams.

You absolutely did it right Scott, you always do. Some celebrities touch us in a way that's unexplainable. They just become a part of our lives. They bring us joy, happiness, good times and unforgettable memories. When we lose them it's like losing a family member. Love has no bounds and so we grow to love them like our dearest friends. Sometimes, we even get to see them through their television shows and performances more often than our closest friends or even family. Sometimes they bring us sadness too, like now. We feel the loss almost as greatly as the persons family does. We are blessed by celebrities though because of the legacy they leave behind that we can watch over and over again. I think everyone that comes across our lives leaves some kind of footprint behind. Celebrities do it in the biggest way though because they keep showing up. What a kind gesture to donate the proceeds to Matthew Perry's favorite fund. He would have loved that and it's a wonderful way to honor him. Thank you, Scott, for doing this video. As a Canadian and Gen Xer, this is a terrible hurtful loss for me personally and I never met him. I grew up watching him, Growing Pains, Charles in Charge, Friends. I am so greatful my addiction has been removed to date. Tomorrow could bring it back but rt now I feel good. My biggest fear was leaving my 2 sons behind. I was one of those guys who thought I was too cool to watch a show like friends back when I was younger. Then I met my fiancé in 2018 and she made me watch it because I made her watch Star Wars. Chandler and Joey were the reason I fell in love with the show. Unfortunately last year I lost her to cancer and haven’t been able to watch it since but I know one day I will again because it was “our show” to watch together forever. You hit the nail right on the head about why and how it can be so upsetting/devastating/crushing when a celebrity passes that meant so much to us. I would offer an additional perspective if I may; it is also how they made you feel. Yes, there is escapism but there is always that song that got you through your first break up, loss of someone, or anything poignant that mattered to you. I was 14 when Freddie Mercury died. I'm a life long musician and Queen was my generation's Beatles. We heard the news late at night on the radio and I had been in bed listening to my Walkman when I heard. My Dad had heard on his radio at the same time. I cried myself to sleep on my Dad's lap at the age of 14. I am still saddened when I think of his horrible death and the music never written or shared. I'm sure there are some Matthew Perry fans who feel the same way. This is normal to feel this way when someone made you feel the way they did and were there during the good times and the bad. To those who are feeling hit hard, you have come to the right place. Scott's people have the same heart when it comes to people that mattered to each other. You did a good job, Scott. You always do. my mom is a huge fan of the Friends sitcom tv show my mom was born and raised around the sitcom shows and the Friends tv show was her #1 favorite sitcom show of all time she has always told me that Chandler was the most funniest character that she's ever seen on the show it just made her so happy that she got to tell her own son about Chandler was played by Matthew Perry I don't know how I am gonna tell her that he passed. I have cried on and off for the past 5 days since hearing the devastating news of Matthew's passing. Even though we didn't know him personally, we feel like we did. Friends is one of my all time favourite shows and it was my Mom's favourite show and she passed from cancer 3 weeks before the finale. She just wanted to live long enough to see the final show of Friends. My daughters are now huge Friends fans as well and we do Friends marathons at the cottage. There have been a few celebrity deaths that have hit me hard, John Lennon, George Harrison and a few others that have touched my soul and now Matthew's passing is one of the deaths that I think will affect me for many years to come. I knew a guy, a great dad, that was working on his pond in his Bobcat, he got to a step angle and fell out and was knocked out after hitting his head and ended up drowning in the pond. Death is hard and is very tragic. You were very respectful and did an awesome job. It’s still hard to believe that an actor from a show in our generation, not our parents, has passed away. Mathew was my favorite on the show and will be greatly missed.

I agree that people have a right to mourn as people like Matthew have been in much of our lives and it’s a great loss. I also agree that both Matthew and George Michael are the two people I’ve mourned greatest outside of my family.
thank you for posting....this was a hard loss as a fellow 54 yr old - someone who was in the "background" for many years of our lives when prime time TV was all there was prior to cable, internet...many of us didn't' know him personally but felt like we somehow did.
You did a nice job Scott. Thanks for making a space for people to come and share their thoughts and feelings around this tragedy. I really liked his portrayal in Fools Rush In and the bits I caught of that movie he did as a teacher. I think he was up there with Bill Murray with his comedy. I listened to his autobiography. It's frustrating and sad that he's gone. It reminds me of Heath Ledger's passing. May we do what we can to reflect the light he shared so it continues.

I’m still in shock and maybe even denial about his death, I’m a huge fan of friends and I essentially grew up with them, it started when I was about 5 or 6 and they’ve gotten me through some extremely hard times, it’s so reassuring to hear that you’re not weird or not crazy for taking his death so hard, people have been telling me that for days that all my feelings are normal because we as his fans feel like we knew him and we all feel like we personally lost a best friend, thank you for donating to an organization on behalf of your viewers and in his name, giving back and helping those find sobriety was so important to him and it became his life’s work and his purpose, and I hope he found peace and found his life’s purpose RIP Matthew Perry we all love you! Could we BE anymore heartbroken

My 13 year old daughter woke me up to tell me that he passed away. I told her that it must be fake news!!! You always go to show my favorite celebrities. We always mourn together although you don't know me personally. Thank you for going everywhere I can't Scott!

Matthew was a good man with his own human problems. But he was prevailing and finding himself. Which I'm glad he did before he passed away.
So tragic the way he passed but I hope he knows how many people loved him and the man he was.

The passing of Matthew Perry is so sad 😢 Especially having read his book, his untimely death is so tragic. He was so hopeful and seemed to be on a really good way.
I was so shocked to hear the sad news. In the last few days, I watched a whole lot of videos and interviews with Matthew on TH-cam, which was kind of comforting. But strangely, watching an episode of Friends is simply too hard for me at the moment. It will definitely never be the same again…
