Matthew Perry was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts, to Suzanne Marie (Langford), a Canadian journalist, and John Bennett Perry, an American actor. His ancestry includes English, Irish, German, Swiss-German, and French-Canadian.
Perry was raised in Ottawa, Ontario, where he became a top-ranked junior tennis player in Canada. However, after moving to Los Angeles at the age of 15 to live with his father, he became more interested in acting. In addition to performing in several high school stage productions, he remained an avid tennis player. Perry ranked 17th nationally in the junior singles category and third in the doubles category. Upon graduating from high school, Perry intended to enroll at the University of Southern California. However, when he was offered a leading role on the television series, Second Chance (1987), he seized the opportunity to begin his acting career.
Perry appeared in the hit comedy film The Whole Nine Yards (2000), as the neighbor of a hit man, played by Bruce Willis. His other feature film credits included Fools Rush In (1997), Aren't You Even Going to Kiss Me Goodbye (1988), She's Out of Control (1989) and Parallel Lives (1994). He also co-starred with Chris Farley in the buddy comedy Almost Heroes (1998) and in the romantic comedy, Three to Tango (1999), opposite Neve Campbell. Perry resides in Los Angeles. He enjoys playing ice hockey and softball in his spare time.
Perry soon found the perfect project with a leading role in a new sitcom about a group of young men and women in New York City. Debuting in September 1994, Friends became one of the most popular television sitcoms of all time.
Perry played the witty and sarcastic Chandler Bing, who shared an apartment with an aspiring actor named Joey, played by Matt LeBlanc, and was a longtime friend of Ross, played by David Schwimmer. Completing the cast, Courteney Cox played Monica, Ross’ sister; Jennifer Aniston played Rachel, Monica’s roommate; and Lisa Kudrow played Phoebe, the kooky, offbeat friend to all.
On October 28, 2023, Perry was found unresponsive in his hot tub at his home in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, and was later pronounced dead at the age of 54. LAPD Captain Scot Williams said the "cause of death may not be known for some time, but at this point foul play is not suspected". The following day, the cause of death was listed as "deferred" by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office, pending "additional investigative steps". - บันเทิง

You have no respect or decency! This is about you and your channel and getting noticed and expanding your channel! Nothing more! I'm going to donate the proceeds! Yea right! He could’ve started and paid for a foundation with his own money, without whomever starting this foundation and begging the public for money.
I turned 54 six days after Mathew passed away, I’m now the same age as he is and still feel young. He left us far too soon. I can’t stop thinking about him and how young he was and a life he still had ahead of him to fulfill his dreams. I’ve cried many times not only for his lose but for his family and friends that he left behind.
What about the other 100,000 people in the US who die of alcohol and or drug abuse every year in the US do you cry for them?

I've had a crush on Matthew since I 1st saw him. I am heartbroken. I read his book and was afraid he wouldn't be with us much longer. I'm having such a hard time with this. I didn't realize it would hit me this hard. I'm so sorry for all his many friends and his family. The only consolation is that he is at rest, pain free, healthy and finally happy. His suffering is over. Matthew, you will be missed more than you know!

Your words touched deep within my soul and it made me cry. Our hearts, my heart's heavy, heavy, HEAVY here. Mathew's passing been deep inner painful. I'm grieving like if I lost a love one. His celebrity status, his fortune Mathew didn't outstood who he was. It was helping others was who he really genuinely was. Just when he was looking forward his life, marry, has children, come back with many projects and life takes a cruel turned and the tragic way he died, drowned. Just so painful unfair! Thank you for giving his fans some closure of our own! I think Matthew's passing is felt so deeply because he was one of our own. We all embraced him with good thoughts and wishes when we found out about his struggles. But we did that because we had loved him so very much as Chandler already. To give the gift of laughter is a blessing, and we were all blessed by his talent and then the work he did for other struggling individuals. Rest peacefully, Matthew !! You left a legacy of love !!

Thanks for posting this, Scott. My wife and I visited Matthew on November 9, 2023. I wouldn't have known where to look if not for your video. I think TMZ showed his grave location, and if you know Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, it's easy to find. He's in good company, with Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds nearby.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I just finished reading Matthew's book. The cemetery is beautiful. This leaves me with great sadness to think that he was such a great talented person with so many demons that he couldn't shake until the end of his life. Matthew believed in God. He had a surreal spiritual awakening while struggling to get clean and sober. His goal toward the end was to help people. I'm sure his book will help countless of people. My belief is he had made it to heaven. RIP Chandler. You were one of a kind. Thanks for all the laughs. ❤😢

Hi Scott. Seems like a lot of us have reasons to grieve these days. I lost two good friends on October 12, 2023 and am mourning those losses. When I saw online that Matthew Perry had died, I thought "Oh, man, not Matthew !!!" So young. Close to my age, too. As always, thank you for your cemetery videos. They serve a grand purpose.

Matthew Perry touched so many, and brought joy to millions around the world with his castmates on Friends. The vast majority of us never had the opportunity to show our appreciation for all the good times, and will never get the opportunity to visit his grave. That's unfortunately how life is. Thank you for posting this. I know you struggled with this but hopefully this gives a lot of people who loved Matty closure. I was never a huge Friends fan, but Chandler was my favourite of the Friends and Matthew's death has really bothered me. He was so talented and passed too young. I'm reading his book now and it's brilliant and heartbreaking - he was a very gifted actor and writer. I hope he's resting peacefully now.
How sad that all his life he wanted fame and didn't even realize he had so much fame. He was loved by millions. I've never seen so many videos and pictures and memories of a celebrity. Mathew touched so many lives. Thank You from a fan.

I graduated from college in the Spring of 94....Friends came out that Fall so the show resonated with me as I was now in that post-college stage in life, trying to figure things out. Matthew once said that he pretty much played himself on the show. We saw his insecurities and his sarcasm and we liked him from the start, but we somehow saw some sadness within him. He was like someone we knew, our friend. I wish that he didn't feel such pressure to be funny and accepted. He was giving and kind, helping so many people with substance abuse problems.

Matthew was also in an episode of Growing Pains where he played a friend of Carol's. He passed in that episode due to drinking and driving. Loved him in Friends and he will be forever mossed. ❤❤

My favorite memory is when Eddie wouldn't move out and watched Chandler sleeping, so Chandler went across the hall only to wake up with Monica watching him sleep . His timing was perfect.
He is one person I truly thought was funny, and he left an impression of a lifetime. Thank you.
It’s hard to imagine someone who we saw on TV since the 90s gone so quickly. It’s a pretty hard hit to see another beloved generation x member who was coming of age when Friends debuted in 1994 gone at the age of 54. My wife and I watched friends back in the 90s when we were in college. Matthew’s death represents something deeply sad. His character was funny, sarcastic and shined with young optimism. With his death our generation shines a whole less bright.

Just because you are clean and sober does not mean your body fully recovered from the many many years of abuse. I was not implying he died of an overdose. None of us currently know the cause of his death.

I think it's wonderful your donating the proceeds to something that was important to Mattie. He most certainly said friends isnt the first thing he wants to be remembered for when he dies but rather for helping people and would spend the rest of his life proving that. Sadly who knew it would be a year later that that would come to be. I think proceeds should go to an addiction and recovery program bc that was most important to him. May Matthew Perry rest in peace and so many prayers and love to his parents,siblings, and all who knew and loved and adored him. ❤😢

Your way of presenting videos and how they're always put together is always just mind blowing and you can definitely always tell that you put a lot of work into them. Best TH-camr ever in my opinion! Thank you so much for all your hard work and always finding a way to make us viewers feel like we're actually there. There's not many videos that you can watch where you actually feel something while watching it but your videos always have a way of moving me.
