I keep reading people's comments saying the Rev 2 doesnt sound great, sounds thin, uses a cheapo oscillator chip, blah blah... sure it sounds a bit different than a Prophet 5 or 6, but man you cant say this thing sounds BAD. Lovely video, Im glad I found it AGAIN. I will indeed be purchasing a Prophet this year, either the 6, or the Rev 2. Either way I think your stuff is lovely and the Rev 2 sounds incredible.
People are dumb. INHALT has an old P08 vs Prophet 5 rev4 video, and while they aren’t exact, they are much closer than you think. With all the added modulation capabilities, its no contest for me. The sound design ceiling is so much higher on the rev2. In a mix, NOBODY can tell a Rev2 vs Prophet 5 anyways, despite what the cork sniffers may say.

Im on the verge of ordering a Rev 2 and man youre pushing me hard to do just that. Your patches are very much in the vein of what Im after. Just beautiful man. Gorgeous pads and sound scapes.
I ended up purchasing a Sequential Take 5 2 months ago. While I do wish I had more keys readily available, I had to consider that I will rarely ever gig with it, and for double the cost, the Rev 2 was a bit unnecessary. I think the Take 5 actually sounds every bit as good as the Prophet though with a few sacrifices.
I used external reverb on a lot of the sounds because the onboard reverb is a little lacking, and then external delay on some too. In the bottom right corner of the video there's the "External Effects" bit that lists what I used on each patch :)
Hey Paul - yes it does! The "name a price" just means you can pay what you think is fair - the minimum price is $7 so if you put $7 in the box you can checkout from there, but if you think the patches are worth more you can put in any number you feel like! :)
In some cases the onboard effects are already used (for chorus, distortion, sometimes reverb or delay) but the onboard reverb isn't great imo - something like Valhalla Shimmer is much better if you're going for an ambient/cinematic style. Echoboy is also a much more featured delay than the onboard delay.
Great sounding patches! I miss the info on which Bank and Program (P1-P4 1-20) the patches will be placed. Or is there a workaround to save it where ever you want?

Perfectly well! I have an 8 voice which I made all of these on - reverb can often help to cover up any voice stealing issues but that's only really an issue for the pads with a really long release like number 2!
Absolutely! I have the 8 voice version myself :) some of the patches may have some voice stealing but it's nothing a little reverb can't smooth out, and sometimes it even adds to the patch!
For sure - my only major criticism of the Rev2 is the subpar effects. The chorus is very nice but other than that they're not great, especially when compared to something similarly priced like the Peak. Buuuut the synth sounds so good I don't mind forgiving them!!
@@tomgreenmusic I have the REV2 now for roughly a month. The weakest part is the reverb. It´s ridiculous for an instrument that price. The Rev2 could be so much better if they just had given it a better reverb. The rest is in a range from okay to good. They have given it 3 sorts of delay... there is not so much difference between them and the "stereo" is not even ping pong and really very minor parameters. You have to autopan the OSCs to get sideways echoes. Again, the FX section is an insult to this instrument. What were they thinking? The FX of the cheap Deepmind would have doubled the value of the Rev2.

Rev2 is for sure not the most "buttery" SYNTH but harsh?... No way! These rumors come from those who are lazy to find the sweet spots of its beautiful filter....
Hmmm - depends where you're based, but here in the UK brand new 8 voice keyboard versions seem to be going for £1400ish (although a little hard to find new?) so maybe in the region of £1100-£1250 depending on age and condition!

My strymon blue sky sits nicely on the top right of the keyboard and fixes everything. Turns it into a complete instrument,

It's not a harsh sounding synth, even raw. Not unless you intentionally want to make it sound harsh.
