Flight to the Holy Land: Europe's Jewish Exodus (Part 1)

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 14 มี.ค. 2016
  • In the wake of recent terror attacks in Europe - several of which targeted Jewish institutions - some politicians and religious leaders have predicted an exodus of Jewish people from the continent. In some ways, the numbers stack up. Last year, a record 8,000 Jews arrived in Israel from France - with another 15,000 coming from Eastern Europe.
But some critics argue that reports of Jewish flight are overblown; they accuse Israel of taking advantage of fears in Europe to attract new immigrants and serve the interests of the Israeli state. “We are preparing and calling for the absorption of mass immigration from Europe,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in February 2015. “I would like to tell all European Jews and all Jews wherever they are: Israel is the home of every Jew.”
VICE News investigates these predictions of a mass Jewish migration - and the forces behind them.
In the first of a three-part series, VICE News heads to Paris to accompany 200 French people on a one-way flight to Tel Aviv. Once in Israel, we meet up with the chairman of the Jewish Agency for Israel, an organization with a $400 million annual budget, which coordinates immigration programs with the Israeli government. We learn about what is pushing Jewish people out of France, and what is pulling them to the Middle East.

+TheWillog They are absolutely NOT converted Jews. Jews even from Europe have DNA that shows that they are from Middle Eastern ancestry. Very few people converted to judaism because it is extremely difficult. They look European because of rape and a limited amount of intermarriage and yes maybe some conversion. Many modern studies prove that European Jews are from Middle Eastern origins and their entire culture and religion is based on the land of Israel. So please, enough with the bullshit. Just accept Jews have a strong and justified connection to Israel.

Isaiah 11:11-12 NIV - "In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush, from Elam, from Babylonia, from Hamath and from the islands of the sea. It cannot break the Oslo accords, and the Israeli-Arab population is growing exponentially from within. So even if the Netanyahu government wants more lands, it physically can't get them unless it purposefully breaks it's own accords. Which it might, but then it would lose multiple intl. trade benefits (U.S included, as it was the instigator of the accords).
Also, the Israeli-Arab population will start revolting from within, causing chaos.
Israel, therefore, will be forced to find a sensible solution to the conflict. Otherwise it will run out of resources and eventually suffer economically, and it isn't doing well even today... just check the upcoming elections in Israel and what the opposition is saying.

One thing the government could do better is recognizing foreign earned degrees. I'm from Kiryat Shmona, which was hit pretty hard by Hezbollah in second Lebanon war, so my family moved to France and I lived there for 5 years (my dad is from Algeria, raised in France). When immigrants come here, the degrees and skills they earned in Europe or USA are basically worthless, which makes it very hard for parents to find a career and support their families. I hope they change this soon. I have family in Paris and Luxembourg and that's their main reason for not coming.

Why does Vice insist on pushing some kind of narrative on this? Watching this documentary you'd think there was some grand conspiracy afoot.
Jews like living in Israel- a Jewish-majority country. That's all. That's the whole story. It's a very beautiful place and not at all as violent as the news would like you to believe. I say this having been there and having lots of family who made aliyah from the FSU. All of those relatives arrived in the 1990s and are still there. For all its ups and downs, they love it because as flawed as it may be- it's home.

But it's not so good if you have to steal someone else's home, and destroy their villages all because you want to come back 3,000 years later, or so you say. This video is quite eye opening though. It just goes to show what a time of great geographical shift we are experiencing. People are flooding in and out of Europe at the moment. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the coming years, let's just hope it will imply as little innocent deaths as possible, although that's very unlikely.

Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are Abrahamic religions. Islam Is an Arab Religion that managed to conquer non Arabs and convert them (Persians, Turks, Palestinians, Egyptians, Kurds, 1/3 of Indians, Indonesians/Malaysians) Christianity was a religion for everyone regardless of race, former religion, culture, sex, etc. Judaism is a religion that God wanted to end just when Christ returned, but the people that God trusted to carry the covenant failed miserably, and sought to sabotage Christ's reputation.

If you took religion out of this equation would the segregation simply change to being racially driven or would it facilitate a platform of equal treatment under one state? I realise there is too much ugly history in this region for this to even begin to change the position, so I pose it as purely a hypothetical question.
