Great informative footage delivered with such humorous narration.. thanks for capturing the hatching off the sack looking egg, never seen before, and the saw fish!! Amazing beautiful creatures.
I came to learn only about Manta rays, since they're one of my most favorite animals in the world, and I ended up discovering many more amazing rays in the process! I have a new found liking for the Torpedo ray! Thank your for the amazing video! You've got a new fan/ subscriber.
I learned a ton in this video! Usually I just watch these videos to reaffirm things I’ve already heard and see the wonderful photography, but this time around I found out a bunch of new stuff!
Your videos are the best! I enter a zen-like state through the amazing music and great facts. I think it would be cool to be a marine biologist, and watching your videos further reinforces that. Keep it up!
In 1964 I was five years old we lived on a boat in Kingston Harbor Jamaica but we lived in Port Royal yes the port royal in fact we lived in a marina the very small marina that was only like 200 feet from the seawall that went down into the ocean at the epicenter of the earthquake true story... manta rays would be catapulting out of the water out in the bay and you can hear their slaps as they landed from miles away every once in a while someone will hook one just fishing off the boat dock and one time an old woman and a bunch of Jamaicans got one all the way in and when it came up it was like 8 feet around and they just cut the line and it’s slowly swam off even at five years old I still remember it.....Very beautiful and majestic...... thank you for your videos Jonathan the ICON‼️®™️

I love all creatures of the Seas. This video was awesome! I've been waiting for a new one and wasn't disappointed. :) Could you do a video possibly on Wild Orcas?
Just want to say a big thank you. After watching Moana my 2 and half year old has become obsessed with rays. We've watched so many shows about rays but yours is her favourite and this episode in particular has been watched so many times in our house. The knowledge she has gained from you is incredible and we've been able to branch out and watch a few of your other episodes too! 😊😊
Well I'm glad to hear that rays are what got her into the show!! We have a new video coming out in our series DIVE STORIES on our second channel @Blueworld_plus next month about my first experience with a manta ray. Be sure to tune in for that. Scheduled for release on July 25th.
William Cox Inside trivia fact: This Blue World segment was created for season 4 out of a variety of skate & ray footage we have collected over several years making the show. Since we had no specific "stand ups" of me talking like we usually do, we decided to try the green screen effect and shoot the standups as overlays on the video. We enjoyed it so much, we decided to make the Shark Academy series with the same technique. So in effect this segment was the one that spawned Shark Academy.
again, I love this show!! the music the person talking in the beginning and of course Jonathan! ( i hope there is no mistakes in ur name ) the way you present the show is awesome. I like whales and I am from saudi arabia. There is no animal caring like here or most places. I have visited new England's Aquarium because of you! and I loved it! My dream is to see the BLUE WHALE and hopefully i can see him. can you tell me where should I go, even if there a chance to see the blue whale, I would go ! thank you!!!! keep up
This is a wonderfully informative video! The only have 2 things I would say is that some deep dwelling sharks, like the cookie cutter shark have fully functional spiracles as well as wobbegong and Angel sharks. Also there is a difference between a saw shark and a saw fish, Pristiformes being saw fish and Pristiformiformes being saw sharks!
My son Noah and I saw eagle rays yesterday while snorkeling in Maui. We wanted to learn more and came to your video. Thanks Jonathan! We’re hoping we see some more today!
I love rays! Thank you for this video. I had never known about the torpedo ray! Crazy!! Can you imagine getting stung/punctured by one of 3 stingers from the eagle ray?! 😳
I just swam with a spotted eagle ray beauty in boca raton Florida she was amazing saw her both days! Thanks for the video I looked this up after to learn more
Joseph Bunyan We are always working on them. Keep in mind that this show involves great expense and a lot of world travel. We can't just whip them up every day!
Really awesome video, this was so helpful..I'm pretty sure you highlighted the sharks nostril when you were referring to it's spiracle(s), since spiracles are posterior to the eyes.. And the spiracle isn't really like a nostril, just confusing because the rays nostrils are ventral by its mouth. Also, the sawfish uses spiracles, but so do many benthic sharks, so that's not why it's a ray
Underwater_ Dude The Shark Academy vids are short, and released weekly (until we run out!). The Blue World vids are longer and released monthly. We plan to not run out.
