think it's time to have a serious discussion about the state of hip hop and its community. It's getting so dry that the only thing we can look forward to now is what streamer X, Y, or Z commenting on drakes big meat.
I honestly don't like the hip-hop community so much, and it makes me really fucking irate. Everyone including the artists themselves are either toxic, stupid, lame, all three or everything in-between. The music being made is phenomenal to me, which is a shame since I can't talk to many rap fans of certain artists who aren't just dumb or loud asf about said music.
I would very much like this discussion to begin as well. Hip hop is in a weird spot. On one hand, it's enjoying an enduring stay in the cultural and popular zeitgeists. On the other, it's oversaturated terribly by the media cycles attached to it. We now have more rappers than ever, making more music than ever, with more coverage than ever, juxtaposed with the expectation that an artist must always be directly connected with their fans and releasing constant music to maintain relevance. The artist is placed in a vice grip atop a pedestal after a single success, and people and record labels both are struggling with letting those pillars break and allowing their artists to have true freedom to create music at their own pace. The parasocial and idolatrous nature of the fan/artist relationship in the social media age has become inherently cancerous on top of all that.
Y’all aren’t looking in the right places. Go to the underground. Dudes like Earl, MIKE, Billy Woods, MAVI, Mach Hommy. No Drama. All RAPS. And wholesome, amazing fan bases.

The guise of getting the artist to relate to the audience has been around since Jeniffer Lawrence declared "where's the pizza". It is far more interesting to learn what makes the "artist" tick. They are an artist for a reason.

I think this is all so interesting. I’ve seen more and more comments of people acctually listening to killer mikes new album and some say acctually prefer it over utopia now. Also kanye bringing freddie and peggy to a bigger stage. Griselda been getting their flowers. I feel like music and hip hop is going to move forward in a very interesting way where streamers like adin ross and kai cenat will start get actual taste and move in a more professional direction as they get older
This is my hope when I see younger music fans developing a platform. I'd love to see the guys grow into seasoned and understanding speakers on music. Even if their opinions never change, if they're exposing themselves to works that are outside their wheelhouse and analyzing just a little more deeply, it helps the general spread of lesser known music to people.
