The SAS consider Malaysia as their second home. They were reformed after WW2 to fight in Malaya and learnt their jungle techniques from Malaysian tribesman. Added to their own unique skill sets these would have been passed on to the GGK.
They were taught by Iban Rangers on how to survive the environment. Considering that Dayak farmers hunt at night in the jungles, Malaysian Rangers and Malaysian Police Commandos are equally as skilled.

(1942-1945). Darurat Malaya. (1948 - 1960). Darurat Sarawak (1952 - 1953). Pemberontakan Brunei (1962). Konfrantasi Indonesia Malaysia (1962 - 1963). Inilah sejarah panjang Sarawak Rangers dari tahun 1862 - 1963 yang kemudiannya dikenali sebagai Regimen Renjer Malaysia setelah penubuhan Gagasan Malaysia pada 16 September 1963.(Batalion pertama) Pesuruhjaya Tinggi Malaya, Sir Gerald Templer yang mencadangkan, "Dyaks should be used not only for tracking but in their traditional role as head-hunters." Jasa mereka dilupa jangan. -Agi Idup Agi Ngelaban😊

They go through hellish training and risk their lives yet all the soldiers and special forces in Malaysia are one of the lowest paying profession in the world when compared to others. A lot of Malaysian soldiers I know had to do a second job during their off days to meet end's meet for their family. It would be good if they are paid higher for their sacrifices.

I have 1 cousin being a GGK, passed the selection on 2017. I asked him to share some stories of his experience during the basic selection. It is indeed hell alike, but everything depends on how strong your mind/mental to pass through all the challenges he said. You are lucky if you got to sleep at least 1 hour per day, after all that brutal training everyday for 3 months. And that was just the basic selection. If you passed selection and accepted into the unit, the training awaiting inside are much more worse than shown in this video.
@@Amir-tk3vh yes but not all. I even beg him to share even only a bit stories. He said once inside, you need to go through like 2 more years of intense training. Sleep on cold floor despite there's a bed/mattress next to you, being hit by rattan/stick/hose pipe, got strip naked (the jungle phase in this video actually needs you to strip naked, wear nothing but only short skirt alike made from leaves). That's why he said to me, if your mental are strong, then you can go through all of that. Physical are no 2. Just go with the flow, don't be rebellious, because that's when your mind will start to affect you. He said he already done his passing out from the intense training at end of year 2019.

Their SOF units do joint training with our Special Forces units and do the SOF joint demonstration every year and are amazing guys, top notch bad asses! demonstration I am very very impressed with the Malaysians Military forces, their Air Force uses Flankers, upgrades F-16’s and what many say is the best F-18 on earth, better faster and lighter than the IS latest Super Hornet. They have 3 amazing bad ass fighters to cover all their bases. Go it a decorated US get pilot retired from US Air Force and went to Malaysia as one of our best fighter pilots to help train them with the F-18 and he says their pilots are absolute top notch and jets better than the US he flew.
The pilot wasn't from the Air Force but from the Navy. USAF doesn't operate F/A-18s (or Hornets). And we don't have F-16s or Super Hornets, only Hornets (F/A-18Ds). Our Hornets are constantly upgraded, so they may be a little bit better than the US ones right now but in fairness USN is transitioning towards Super Hornets and F-35s so there's no point upgrading jets about to be retired
@@asm1030 Malaysian F/A-18D is exact same version as used by US Marine, not export version. Boeing want to buy back and offered super hornet. Are they kidding, giving up usmc version for strip down super hornet, no way.
Alister Fabian Asian special forces like Malaysia, Vietnam etc. are the toughest among all special forces. A lot of the stuff they do their NATO or western counterparts would end up in prison especially their trainers.
Had an ex GGK commando as an instructor back when I was in National Service. Morning PT sessions with him were harsh but somehow he made it enjoyable. Had us run 10 laps around camp while he called cadences and encouraged us to come up with our own cadences. Those were some good times with him.
This unit aced the special forces ultimate challenge held late last year. Two 6-men teams from each the army, navy and airforce SF units. Both GGK teams completed the physical disciplines way ahead of the others, besides winning the weapons/firearms and scenario challenges. The only challenge they did not finish top was water-based. Some fun fact: The navy's special forces is called PASKAL, equivalent to the US navy Seals. In fact they do alot of cross training. A few operators have done BUDS training in the States. Even their BDU is different from the rest of the armed forces in Malaysia. They wear the Woodlands BDU, while the rest are wearing digicam/multicam. It is considered to be the most well equipped unit in the Malaysian SF community, or even the whole armed forces.
The "Death March" were actually used to be mandatory to all ATM personnel, But due to high mortality rate, It was later reserved solely for GGK training. That being said, joining the ATM wont be any easy.
It's actually fucking tough for these GGK guys to do the route march. Their march requires them to march from one state to another. Basically, they're marching from their launch point in Tangkak, Johor all the way to their HQ at Melaka while along the way having to dodge traffic and stuff. Besides, their rest isn't long and all they have is 30mins which includes sleep, food and drink. Once you toh/pengsan (our lingo in our part of the area for "collapse"), you're considered dead thus you're out. In fact, one of their most recent glory to fame was their fight against Al-Qaeda and ISIS backed Sulu fighters called the Moro Liberation Front at Lahad Datu in Sabah. They worked together with another famous Malaysian commando unit that's attached to the naval unit much like the Navy SEAL and they're called PASKAL. These two forces became the main spearhead in the fight to tackle the Moro fighters together with the Malaysian Royal Police (Balai Polis) and won the fight .
Need i remind you that this is just a selection course. And they didnt even showed most of the gruelling part in this video. Real hell awaits right after they've passed the selection.

The Forgetten Hero-Sarawak Rangers(IBAN Headhunter)
Darurat Malaya. (1948 - 1960).
Darurat Sarawak (1952 - 1953).
Pemberontakan Brunei (1962).
Konfrantasi Indonesia Malaysia (1962 - 1963).
Pesuruhjaya Tinggi Malaya, Sir Gerald Templer yang mencadangkan, "Dyaks should be used not only for tracking but in their traditional role as head-hunters."
Jasa mereka dilupa jangan.

Did he tell you abt the training after being accepted into the group ? Curious ...

Yeah had one Instructor from Maroon Beret. Enjoyed his story of life lessons
You go there and you see your army eat the chocolates bar when tired after training .GGK only take 1 cigarette

I know someone who is still alive, being awarded with Pingat Gafah Berani . He survived though being shot. Not a scratch. Kena cari tu bro... kalau berkemahuan
Hi sir, that head plank move 2:57 is what we called it the Commando Rest. It helps strengthening the spine, neck, back and leg muscles as well as hardening the forehead. This exercise is commonly used in wrestling sports.
Australia is the only nation to have permanent base of troops in Malaysia. Yes GGK have trained with America before, green berets have trained with our GGK before.
Ya...the Penang airbase has Australian plane maybe MPA....if I am not mistaken
Episode 2 Sir!! Glad you reacted to this. I always amazed with soldiers and how they survived in any environment

Definitely need a part two on this one bud. Keep up the work
In the Special Operations Aviation Training Battalion, we did something similar to the head plank called the low diamond hold. Arch your back, diamond with the hands, head over the diamond, do push ups. By the time youre spent, your head is usually digging into the ground and you can’t get it up
Levi Minnis but you guys weren’t tortured like these guys. A lot of the stuff they do is ILLEGAL IN THE US AND NATO. If they tried that shit in your unit your special forces trainers would end up in FT LEAVENWORTH.
@@asianfighter62 yeah and for good reason
That head rest position is called a "commando rest" here in malaysia........and it hurts like fucking hell....i had hold that for 3 hours once as punishment to the platoon.....i trained with these guys for a week....altho it being super tired and the training was washed down since we were cadets it was still tiring as fuck.....mad props to them....hope i get to be one of them is a few years time....also the U.S marines train with our infantry quite often actually
You trained with them? So you are a commando?
those harsh punishments are necessary tho to reinforce personnels' discipline in a short time. theres no playing around in the army, navy and airforce, most of the time
Petition for adding GGK into Rainbow Six Siege

There is a joint exercise training every year with special forces in South East Asia. Including Malaysians, Thai, Singaporians, Philippinians, Indonesians, Americans. The Australians, New Zealanders, Brittish and some other forces join from time to time.
Philipp Schwartzerdt they are called FILIPINOS! I am a retired Filipino American infantryman and scout. Filipinos don’t use Philippinians. For females they call it Filipina. I speak basic TAGALOG
WING CHUN - sorry if I heard your feelings, wasn't my intention.
So far the Filipinos I trained and worked with never took offence to it, rather concentrated on the task at hand and the teamwork. I also don't take offence when people from the Phillipines call me Joe or from South America call me Gringo and people from Thailand call me Farang. There are other things that are more important - and it is the way you say it. So when I am using the word Philippinians it is meat with outmost respects my friend.
@@philippschwartzerdt3431 Lol Pewdiepie call us Philippinian too and i am cool with it and as a person who serve in the AFP i can confirm its just these Toxic people dont know how to understand that people can misspell or dont know the Spell especially the name of our Country which is Complicated sometimes
So dont apologize with it sir we Understand it and were cool with it
whiplash bas - that this is a selection process is obvious and goes without say.
Though you're probably not listening to what JT has asked. My response is the answer to his question, not a comment to the video.

My father were once a Royal Malaysia Army private during the Emergency. He told me the GGK guys always got the most dangerous mission.
@Unkwon Malaysian Guy must be it
@Unkwon Malaysian Guy Yep we called it "Malayan Emergency". Most fighting took place in the jungles.
Royal?.. Just Malaysian Army
@@naimthelee2285 its in the name Royal Malaysian Army. Malaysia is an constitutional monarchy.
2:49 In Malaysian military, this is called Commando Rest.
Royal Malaysia Police's special force, VAT69, also do this too. And they were original trained by the SAS.
👍
VAT69? noooiceee!
aaahh the 69, I remember one of the GGKs got injured by a mine trap in the jungle by the Communist
Do read A Navaratnam's "The Spear and The Kerambit". Some harrowing stories of 69ers fighting the commies in the jungle. Nava was the first CO of 69 commando.
@@jeremyemilio9378 69 resembles the kerambit melee, small and deadly.

When the navy seals train with our ggk , they shocked because look at our malaysia army grab the cigarettes first and not even touch the food . Well we can't live without cigarettes
Yeah
Sheit....
at some point I have to agree the food is much better to fill up your strength ...not saying smokers are not good at being a soldier but it is not good for strength and health during training dude you were facing hot weather and it is already hot and hell for your skin and your fill your lung with smoke inside your body get much hotter inside .....Our GGK is the best but I have to agree with the Seals on having good food rather than smoking
@@copralcollinmoore6653 100% agree. Soldiers should get rid of the smoker habit bcoz ye they gonna use that lung alot more than normal people
