Absolutely brilliant, first video I’ve found that shows from start to finish . I’ve got a Muir windlass that is overrunning the chain and not releasing it into the hold , any clues to remedy this ? Ernie in Australia
There should be a stripper on the windlass. It strips the chain/line/rope from the windlass so it doesn't wrap itself around the windlass. If the stripper is missing or damaged, it will not release the chain/line/rope.
Thanks for this video! It helped a lot when I had to replace the same part!
You're welcome!
Thanks for this helpful video! We ended up using a puller to get the Gypsy off. It was super smooth and didn’t need heat. Cheers!
Glad it helped!
Great video! Getting ready to replace the broken plastic stripper on my Lewmar and this is hugely helpful!
Your welcome.
I used a nut and bolt to get the two separated.
Good tip.
Spot on!👊🏻🇺🇸
Thank you.

Imannyr1 do you happen to know what the replacement part number is for the stripper, and who did you purchase it from? TIA
Chad Halliday I bought it from “P2 Marine”. Part number was “LEW66000033” for Sprint 1500 windlass
awesome, thanks for the info!
No problem.
