  • 🔴 LISZT vs PAGANINI 🔥 Who´s Campanella is better? 👀
    As you listen to La Campanella, discover the final years of Paganini, the devil´s violinist. Also in this video you will see a music duel between Liszt and Paganini, (Liszt vs Paganini). Liszt was another virtuoso, but not of the violin, of the piano. They met each other in Paris and after listening to this Paganini "Etude" Liszt decided to make a piano version.
    The final years of Paganini were marked by diseases and even financial problems after making bad decisions.

    This was actually really accurate (and also very entertaining, I love how Paganini approved of Liszt's playing and then was like "Ok but I want the attention again") :D
    I think he was given mercury and opium for his syphilis though, with the latter being more likely to make him addicted (I'm not sure mercury is addictive at all, it just poisons you). Another possible explanation for his moody behaviour (besides depression, possibly burnout from hardly ever getting a break and being pressured to perform even when he was ill, medical trauma and childhood trauma in my humble opinion, his dad would literally starve him until he'd practised enough so I can only imagine what the guy was like, and he did become financially independent and cut all ties with his father at age 14 as far as I know) might be (I think chronic) encephalitis he may have gotten from contracting measles at a young age.
    He didn't remove his teeth I don't think, but his TB spread to his larynx (making him unable to speak in his last days, he was also barely able to talk to Berlioz after finally seeing Harold en Italie which is a whole story in itself and hilarious imo) and his jaw, leading to jawbone necrosis and the loss of his teeth.
    It's also been speculated that his flexibility/joint hypermobility that made it possible for him to accomplish seemingly impossible things on the violin stemmed from a connective tissue disorder such Marfan syndrome (highly unlikely as he was 1.65 and had normal sized hands whereas most people with Marfan tend to be tall and have arachnodactyly (extraordinarily long fingers), and a genetic test on his descendants came back negative) or hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (which there is no genetic test for as of now), but with the amount of other issues he had it's hard to say if he actually had hEDS or just hypermobile joints/joint hypermobility spectrum disorder or a different connective tissue disorder.
    So, in conclusion, I kinda feel sorry for the guy and still can't wrap my head around how he managed to be a fully functioning human.

      Thanks for your comment and nice words. Yeah, when i make a video, teaching is not the most important but i try to make them accurate and not to say stupid things as you can see in other videos about Paganini in which you can listen things like he had hands of 45 cm long. Regarding the teeth, I think he got only removed the inferior part in Prague if I remember well. Anyway, it seems you are an expert on this matter and is great to read people that know a lot!! Don´t forget to subscribe if you didn´t! There will be a new video this week!

    • @liar.2390
      @liar.2390 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@HistoriasconNotas Haha thanks :D I'm by no means an expert (that's why I always added "I think" and "as far as I know" and stuff), I've just been researching him extensively because he's the main character of a story I'm working on. I just know enough to be able to tell you did your research for these videos and that made them even more fun to watch. I just meant to add more information because I like to geek out about things sometimes. XD
      Also thanks for the info on the teeth, when I read about it it actually wasn't really made clear if they just fell out or were removed but the wording implied that they fell out. From a storytelling and characterisation perspective that matters a lot though, I think losing your teeth without knowing what's going on is a very different experience from having them removed by a medical professional who can explain what's happening to you and why and guide you through it (though I think both would be pretty devastating).

    The most talented violonist for me is Paganini. Even being able to study his works requires serious mastery. I'm currently working on Paganini's La Campanella. But Lizst is definitely very talented at the piano. I think the adaptation he made is perfect in harmony. I think they both excel in their instruments but I think Paganini's La Campanella for violin is better.

    Paganini won of course, even dead he remains the greatest violinist (beside, though I respect piano, I find violin a more challenging instrument with a repertoire as difficult)

    • @HistoriasconNotas
      @HistoriasconNotas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah. I agree with you, plus he is the one who composed the piece. Liszt only arranged it. But seems Liszt is winning according to the comments.

      @@King_Schwarzherz Well, I think it might be because of Liszt's version's huge popularity and the fact that his arrangement is also extremely beautiful. ( I am not saying that Paganini's original isn't beautiful, I just think it's better on the Piano. )

    I think they should have used the first transcripts of the Big Études of Paganini of 1838, 'cause Paganini die in 1840, and the Études than are shown in the video are from 1851, so Paganini was dead at that momen 😅
