Shutting the p.t.o.off and on constantly at full throttle is very rough on clutches. When backing up,it isn't necessary to keep shutting the p.t.o.off. A new electro-clutch runs about $300.00-$400.00 in the X-500's to replace them.
Wrong, just lift a little lever and it won't shut off, or jam a little piece of wood under the lever to hold it up. Simple and saves wear and tear on expensive pto clutches
Greets from Connecticut; Just came over from "Backyard Maine"'s site, and have the same question: How was your fuel usage for the winter with that John Deere?
That year, the snow just pounded us, storm after storm, I probably went through 2 tanks of diesel. Typical years one tank of diesel usually goes a season.
Why do you take the power take off, when you back up? This is very hard on the clutch, especially at full throttle. Not a very good operator on the tractor!
@@donaldgodin3491 I didn't see anything either, however, it's not uncommon for consumer grade equipment to shut off the PTO in reverse if that is a lawn mower tractor, because consumers run over their kids, dogs, and everything else when they back up. If you look, he was trying to eat the house with the blower @ 0:54 Hopefully that dog that was running around found a safe place to hide.
I live down the road in Auburn, 32.5 inches with a little old MTD 5/24. What a winter, 96 inches in 21 days, whew!
Nice blower.
some people have all the luck

He isn't doing it, the tractor is. The news ones automatically kill the PTO in reverse
haha more money for them to make on parts ;) in the name of "safety"

@@cnrmoose I agree,,,,,,big money for JD you repair them clutches
@@cnrmoose Yup, amazing how people can own a piece of equipment and not know how to use it. The dealer showed me that feature the day I bought it.
I'm from Millbury mass, right next to you, currently have an x758 with a 54" blower and now looking for a cab.
makes you appreciate a big garden tractor
That’s why we moved to Melbourne Beach , Florida 2018 ! 60 years in Worcester , Mass was ENOUGH !!! Wally Gator
Good thing you have that cab
What year and model is this? It looks like Y295 on the side.

Sweet ride daddio!
"An there's the dog, she did come home" maaaa more of the deere less dog.
Combien pour votre tracteur
Where's the 30 in. Of snow
I guess I don’t understand your question.
The drift he was working on was probably what he was referring to.....guess I really dont see the need for your question either?
I could use those shaving bars on my blower
You can buy custom fit drift cutters from Deere - if you have a Deere.
Your tape is broke..there's a million little blowers out there and we know how high the sides are.!!
You can Google the storm. I’m in Central Massachusetts. The national weather service will back me up!

Guessing your not good at reading
@@davidbannister9929 Reading what? Are you the operator on the tractor?
@@donaldgodin3491 He is talking about reading the comments from 6 years ago that explain why.
