I Ran a Norland snow blower for over 25 years on the Willamette pass when I worked for the highway dept. The blower had two engines a 16 cylinder diesel engine that ran the blower head and a 8 cylinder diesel that ran the drive wheels and hydraulics to operate the blower . The blower head was 10 feet wide and 8 feet high. It had cutter bars on the side that cut the berm on the side of the road that were 20 feet high. Many times the snow was 6 to 8 feet higher then the 20 foot cutter bars could reach. Our regular shift was 10 hours but in a storm it wasn't uncommon to work 12 to 16 hours in a white out where you could only see a few feet in front of you . I really know how draining both physically and mentally running a blower in bad conditions. One thing I left out was how big this Norland blower was it was 35 feet long 12 feet wide and weighed 160 thousand pounds. It could throw a full boot of snow over 200 feet when you had the blower in high gear.
Holy crap what a monster blower I'm sure that was a handful to operate. I've only seen those in videos. I'm sure the citizens appreciate the work you did to keep them driving safe. I loved your comment please be safe and happy.
Know very well how tired one can get from snow-blowing. Spent about 3 or 4 hours snow blowing recently. At first clearing / plowing the snow with my atv, and then using a snowblower (the kind you walk behind) to throw the snow further away from the road (which has edges of snow about the height of the box with the auger in, in my snowblower. Took quite a while, and all in a bit of sideways wind. And of course, when I was about done it started snowing again. Luckily it did not snow too many centimeters, so I did not have to do all the work over again. But the next day I did some research into tractors. A local dealer has a Lovol 504 50hk 4wd tractor which I would get if I had the money for it. But it costs about 3 times the price my ATV cost, and thus I would need to save up for 15 years to be able to afford it. And that is if my house do not need any big repairs during that time. So perhaps by the time I am in my sixties I may afford such a tractor. :)
Jens you worked so hard I understand I've been there. Tractor snowplowing is work but it is so much more enjoyable especially in a cab. I spent decades shoveling, tractor 2wd plowing, truck plowing, backhoe plowing, walk behind snowplowing including roofs, tractor open station blowing and cab tractor blowing. We've done it together brother. 5 years ago while blowing snow in my open station tractor wearing a snowmobile helmet snow plastered my face as the visor kept fogging and was open...instance brain freeze and pain. When I came inside covered with snow I told my wife I want a cab tractor and never looked back. No matter what we use the move snow we are in the battle together...as you've seen I join the work with my neighbors. You're probably my age lets not give up and keeping busy. I'm lucky to have you and your comment grounding me and my channel. Thank you for supporting my channel.
Hi Pete, very nice of you to plow your neighbors driveways. I do the same with my 1025R but no cab, here in Delaware we don’t get much snow and my three neighbors driveways are very steep. New Subscriber and looking forward to watching past videos.
Dave welcome to the channel, Delaware is beautiful and the 1025R is a great machine. Always good to help each other. Thank you for supporting my channel I hope you enjoy my videos peace.
Great video. First time watching your videos. Not sure if you have one but you should get a rear blade for your tractor. I think that would help a lot with pulling snow away from garages and then going over the pile with the snow blower.
I use to shovel my driveway for almost 30+ year's. Sometimes when we have a Noreaster we get 30 + inches of snow. It would take me days to dig out. Now with the 2032 R it takes 30 minutes. Really makes me feel privileged.
No I did not But my wife made me an egg sandwich and I went to work for several hours...did a little shoveling there and computer work. Aaron thank you for supporting my channel.
Good job I have a 2007 3720 deer and added a box Vlad to the back so I rarely have to shovel. You back into the garage and blade it out then use the blower to send it. Highly recommend the box blade for cleaning entrances as well backing up Makes it easier
When you plow snow with your tractor I think it looked the best. I think your other machine don’t do a great job like your tractor did your machine that you got now I name it the shoot clogger but that’s the way it is you rather drive motorcycles then work on your property like you used to are used to enjoy watching your videos, but I can’t anymore because I’m not into motorcycles

Paul some people do that your brother is awesome. Many believe that is the best way to keep up with the snow. I'm sure your brother's neighbors appreciate how he helped them. Please tell him I think he is great. thank you for sharing.
Hey Pete Curt here I’ve seen other guys lift there snow blower up if the snow is taller than the blower then drive into the tall drift a few feet up too your front wheels then back up and lower the blower and then take out the rest of the drift !! Quick question you plug your cab beacon light into the power port inside the cab where and how do you get the wire inside the cab ?? I was thinking as long as the ground is frozen like I’m sure it is under all those feet of snow you have gotten up there you don’t have to worry about scalping the lawn it’s hard as a rock !! No worries ! Only if it was not frozen it would dig in ? I can’t even drive on my lawn unless it’s frozen ! I can with my golf cart !! LOL ! But not a 5,000 lbs tractor !
Curt good questions. Although lifting the blower in deep snow is less dramatic on video I think it is a great idea. I think I did that many years ago after a 3 foot storm. Thank you for the great advice. I open the rear window to route the strobe wire from the roof into the cab...I can't remember if I tuck it into the window trim to neaten the wire management up...what ever I did it doesn't bother me. Even when the ground is frozen my blower will shave the grass and some soil and blow it across the yard. The more frozen the ground the better. Most damage grows and removes prior to the first mowing. I still feel bad and don't like scalping even my lawn. Usually by the time the snow hits the ground is frozen enough to support the tractor. Curt nice to hear from you with great ideas thank you for supporting my channel.

I would love to get a snow storm like this - maybe a couple a year. All we seem to get is rain changng to snow or snow changing to rain. Makes 2" of snow really heavy.
John we've had two storms this year 20" over night with 8" more during the day and then this 12". We did have steady snow in 4-6' shots maybe another 5 or 6 driveway cleaning. Our weather has gotten strange. Thank you for supporting my channel.

Greg from northern Michigan. How many inches of 'global warming' did you get ? Your JD green machine handled it with ease. Your tractor windows were also not fogging up as bad today. Did you do something different with the tractor ceiling vents or tractor AC settings ? Take care and stay safe.
Greg this is the same Northeastern snow storm that hit January 17...we received 20" overnight and almost another 12" during the day. I think opening the door helped get the moisture out of the cab...and I was in the tractor so long my cloths dried off. Over 4 hours of shoveling, blowing and moving cars the machine did great. I was expecting to work this long. Another storm came 10 days later...it's been along winter. Thank. you for supporting my channel.
Looks like your tractor barely fits inside the garage door. You have mentioned that you use cetane boost in your fuel and you feel the engine is running a lot better. I too occasionally use cetane boost as well in my 6.5 powered truck. You might want to consider trying to tank full of off-road diesel it packs a lot more energy than the on-road diesel. That cab on your John Deere look so comfortable I had a Ford 5000 and 2000 tractors no cab. Not even a ROPS open roof.
My fuel is off-road fuel, and I do use cetane winter additive and this engine was rocking it out this day for sure. I ran an open station for 50 years...you don't have to remind me how could it is....but it was fun when I was young. Thank you.
Have you had any problem greasing the front axle on the 3046? I have read that the zerk is well hidden and Deere's solution is to grind a channel in the housing/casting to get at it, ---or--- drop the front axle. I don't know if Deere instituted an engineering change in subsequent production. Your comment is appreciated.
I believe it is 94.5"...if you can I would measure a machine at the dealership as sometimes the specifications listed are not correct. Thank you for supporting my channel
I noticed when you were backing away from the garage, your snowblower continued to operate. Do you have the RIO disabled? Or did you hold down the PTO button while you were backing up? Otherwise, if you are backing up while using the mid PTO, the RIO will shut down the tractor and kill the engine.
The dealer installed a sensor on the mid pto that only worked one season. Many people told me how to program the tractor. A viewer told me to stick a cloths pin under the pto button...bam that was the best suggestion and I've used it for years...simple and easy. Scott have a happy New Years.
James i no longer have this unit, I traded it for a track loader...which has a snowblower. The weather here is odd, a Christmas blizzard then 6 weeks above freezing, last two weeks sloppy snow March is blustery and cold...today is Sunny and warm. Crazy weather...oh we also had an earth quake.
N I hope you watch some of my other videos and you see the garage equipment being used...Polaris Ranger, RZR Trail, RZR XP Pro, Ferris Zero Turn Mower...and just me lol. I hope you are well. Thank you for supporting my channel.
My driveway is paved so I don't have many rocks. You can adjust the swing on the shoot so you don't hit things with snow or rocks. If you have a stone driveway I'm not sure I would recommend a snow blower. Thank you for supporting my channel.
Trucker I'm still working, area was shut down this day due to the storm I closed my office so then I could help my neighbors. Normally I help them here and there...I'm surprised and please at the response of these videos, I never gave helping a second thought. I drive our Pete and Mack from time to time, 30 years ago I did longer distances. Thank you for supporting my channel.
Oh boy James...i think the tractor was a 2018 I purchased new and traded another tractor on it. The new owner contacted me he uses the tractor on a large piece of property in Connecticut. Not sure what the tractor, blower, loader and mower would cost now...new I'm guessing $65k. I'm sure a dealer would price for you and JD usually has excellent financing. I hope you are well be safe.
People don't realize how tiring doing something like this is....plus the constant stress of evaluating how to do it and worrying about buried objects.. Looks like you've sized your unit just right. Sometimes being bigger is a problem with access and maneuvering.
@@Captndarty I get both sides of a rear blower. It depends on the property, blower type and if the tractor has an implement on the front like a loader, blow snow pusher....happy new year

Usually I have nutrigrane bars near me but not this morning. I'm going to add peanut butter crackers that's an excellent suggestion. Thank you for helping me and supporting my channel.

Great video. First time watching your videos. Not sure if you have one but you should get a rear blade for your tractor. I think that would help a lot with pulling snow away from garages and then going over the pile with the snow blower.
I would like to get one for my JD 5090M company tractor as I agree with you. Be safe.
That's one amazing tractor

I use to shovel my driveway for almost 30+ year's. Sometimes when we have a Noreaster we get 30 + inches of snow. It would take me days to dig out. Now with the 2032 R it takes 30 minutes. Really makes me feel privileged.
Another awesome video. I hope you were able to grab a hearty breakfast and kick back by the fire for the rest of the day.
No I did not But my wife made me an egg sandwich and I went to work for several hours...did a little shoveling there and computer work. Aaron thank you for supporting my channel.
Good job
I have a 2007 3720 deer and added a box Vlad to the back so I rarely have to shovel. You back into the garage and blade it out then use the blower to send it. Highly recommend the box blade for cleaning entrances as well backing up

As a plow guy. I don't understand why her plow guy doesn't get close enough to the garage. I usually back blade leaves maybe a 6" to foot takes 2 minutes to do. Get r done!!

Wow nice tractor and other equipmnt too. Ill keep watching u. Where are u located?
Marshall awesome comment. I'm outside Buffalo New York. Thank you for supporting my channel.

I don’t think I had any issues…but I can’t remember I think it was corrected on my tractor I hope 😊merry Christmas
Great video. I was wondering how tall your garage doors are? I’m think about getting a cab tractor but don’t want to leave it outside.
Do yo still have this unit? Last video I saw a skid steer. How’s the weather back there this year?
James i no longer have this unit, I traded it for a track loader...which has a snowblower. The weather here is odd, a Christmas blizzard then 6 weeks above freezing, last two weeks sloppy snow March is blustery and cold...today is Sunny and warm. Crazy weather...oh we also had an earth quake.
GREATNESS
Agreed
With the garage doors open you can literally get all the snow!
Maybe, when I use to plow I would open the doors. Thank you maybe I'll try that with the blower. Be safe.
I love the 360 camera in the cab. Which one do you use?
Tekker thank you most viewers don't. It's a GoPro Max and it does a fine job. I like that it allows so much flexibility in editing. Happy New Year.
What's in the garage? I see a lot of vehicles parked outside. That tractor and blower do a great job. Great video.

How bad does that blower throw rocks? I use a bucket but would like a blower. Nervous about hitting windows and such.
My driveway is paved so I don't have many rocks. You can adjust the swing on the shoot so you don't hit things with snow or rocks. If you have a stone driveway I'm not sure I would recommend a snow blower. Thank you for supporting my channel.
Are you like retired from a normal job or still working plus helping the neighbors when you’re off?

What year is your tractor? How much of an investment is a setup like that?
Oh boy James...i think the tractor was a 2018 I purchased new and traded another tractor on it. The new owner contacted me he uses the tractor on a large piece of property in Connecticut. Not sure what the tractor, blower, loader and mower would cost now...new I'm guessing $65k. I'm sure a dealer would price for you and JD usually has excellent financing. I hope you are well be safe.
What does a tractor n snowblower like your set up cost ?
It's been a while maybe 50k there was a trade. Be safe
People don't realize how tiring doing something like this is....plus the constant stress of evaluating how to do it and worrying about buried objects.. Looks like you've sized your unit just right. Sometimes being bigger is a problem with access and maneuvering.
Boy oh boy are right thank you for understanding it is very stressful.
Most people like myself would rather use a rear mounted snowblower than a front mounted one
Josh you're correct, I I would not like going backwards to blow snow...too many obstacles in my driveway and that's not comfortable. Happy New years.
You are incorrect. Most people would not like to back up with a crooked neck to snowblow.
@@Captndarty I get both sides of a rear blower. It depends on the property, blower type and if the tractor has an implement on the front like a loader, blow snow pusher....happy new year
