John Deere Snowblower - 1025r - vs Blizzard

  • Today we'll use the John Deere Snowblower attachment on the 1025r to clean up after the blizzard of 2022. Looks like we have about a foot of snow overall with some drifts up to 2 feet deep. Let's get the John Deere 1025r with the 47 inch front mount snowblower and get busy. This set up with the snowblower on the front and a 60 inch plow blade on the back is (in my opinion) the perfect setup for snow removal. We also have a stuck car to deal with so let's get started.
    Equipment used:
    John Deere 1025r subcompact tractor
    John Deere 47 inch snowblower
    King Cutter 60 inch back blade

    I was so happy this year to get to use my Husqvarna snowblower. It's no machine like that but I bought it 3 years ago and hadn't had any snow since here in Maryland. Took care of a couple 6-8" snows we had in January really nicely. Neighbors even got in on it I was so happy to use the thing. That's an awesome setup. As someone who has a 60” Meteor rear PTO snowblower on a sub-compact tractor
    • Your tractor and front pto snow blower seem to do the job with no issue. I like that you have a rear blade mounted at the same time too
    • Rear PTO blowers near me are about 1/3 the price of front blowers and make it worth it by allowing it to still have a front implement on at the same time too

      I have the 1025 with the rear blower and agree it's great to be able to use the bucket when using the blower...it's great and gets the job done however it's a pain in the ass as you have to be turned around looking back at all times when the blower is in use...I live in Nova Scotia Canada on a hill overlooking the ocean and the last ten years or so all we get is wet heavy snow and it'll make the 1025 work for sure...that light powdery snow like in this video is nothing to remove...bought mine new and if I had to do it over again I would have the front blower instead and a cab...live and learn I guess.

    Your excellent video just reinforced the conclusion I've come to. A snowblower definitely has it's advantages over a plow blade. Your driveway is much larger than mine. With a deep snow as shown, with a plow-it moves the snow, but you still have to put it someplace; requires double handling. With a snowblower, you reduce or eliminate the second step. The majority of the snow is cleared and moved with the first step. Final clean up can be done with a plow with minimal effort like you did with a backblade.
    Thanks again, great video!

      @BackyardMaine  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you. One of my neighbors has the same tractor with a plow. It seems to work good for him but I prefer the blower as well. He has to push the snow quite a distance onto his lawn to make room for future storms. Thanks a lot for watching! Have a great day. 👍

      As a tractor and blower user and fan myself. If you can get a cab, it makes a huge difference. I have a JD3320 open cab and after 10 years finally added the cheapest cab I could find. I can't express how much of a difference this made. Of course make sure you have a large enough door for the height. Backyard Maine looks like he wouldn't have that option as the ROPS bar is folded over in order to fit (I assume). I myself had to do some minor modifications to my overhead door to make mine fit, and it just barely does. But worth every moment of trouble to make it fit IMHO.

      I used to have TWO John Deere 212 tractors when I lived in NY. I had one with a plow, and one with a blower. The plow was MUCH faster with smaller amounts of snow (4-5" and under). The blower cleared stuff the plow wouldn't have been able to get through. Deepest I ever did with the blower was 37". So, tell your wife you need BOTH a plow AND a blower. LOL
