  • This video will show a panoramic x-ray being taken at the dentist. A Panoramic x-ray or PAN or PANO is a full-mouth image that captures your entire mouth - including your teeth, jaw, TMJ, and areas around your wisdom teeth.
Panoramic x-rays are usually taken prior to orthodontics (if you’re getting braces) or extractions (if you need to get a tooth pulled) and other various reasons such as to evaluate for implants and check for any pathologies in your mouth.

I just had one done a few hours ago. I resisted this for years, but the state of my teeth and 2 dental infections swollen had me go.
It's been a few hours and a tingling/ slightly burning sensation on the too of my head and at the back, plus an oppression in head, won't go away.
I so regret doing it. I have a little nausea too. I hate myself because I didn't want to do it.
I know radiation exposure is bad. I read articles that said this is in fact of little to no real utility in dental care.
But no dentist would accept to see me without one.
    I hate myself.
    I hope I'll be OK.
I went cause of my 3 y old boy. The discomfort and pain in my teeth wouldn't let me tc of him properly. Now I regret going and feel like I failed him ans myself. I feel I failed to tc of my health properly and subjecte myself to harmful radiation just out of pressure from this bloody pseudo modern medical system.

I went to the dentist to have my teeth filled its just a super small decay by looking at it it looks like its only in the enamel, no xray yet and the dentist said it might be rct? Im worried because my teeth doesnt even hurt at all or any symptoms for root canal and im worried it might just give me problems in the future, or the dentist just said this to make sure before doing the filling we need the xray first?

This is superior scanning technology compared with the uncomfortable wing bite rays youre given with routine check ups. Highly recommended for any tooth extraction. Luminous charges NZ$120 for an OPG usually they cost up to $200 in NZ depending on the dentist.

It’s good for certain views depends on what the dentists needs to assess the bitewings are smaller ones are more detailed for cavities and finer signs of bone loss issues related to infection early gum disease detail that will be missed on a panoramic view 😊

I have done 10,000 OPGs. What a pity the OPG shown was with the patients head tilted up about 10 degrees from optimal. That is why the incisors does show their roots and the bones in the roof of the mouth are projected over the roots of many of the top teeth. There is also some rotation, indicated by the wisdom teeth on the patients right appearing smaller than those on the left.

Truly evil medieval iron maiden contraption. Was in this about a week ago and the revolving part wouldn't clear my shoulders, so the dental assistant had me leaning back a bit further. She ran the machine and it knocked me HARD and I heard a big CRACK as it almost pulled out my bottom two teeth with that little clamp down plastic bit. In pain now and can't eat anything remotely hard or anyways does any sort of suction to that part of my mouth. Instant pain. Seriously, the convenience of this to get a panoramic view of all teeth, is not worth the risk. If they ask you to do this, say HELL NO.

Holy crap. That's horrible! I just had this done and it hit me too and must happen a lot because she warned me. Most of the impact in my shoulder, where I need a shoulder replacement so it didn't feel good. I have an inoperable brain tumor and limit radiation so I argued my case for about 5 minutes but finally agreed because my freaking tooth hurt and I need the root canal....sounds like you need one too now, and it should be on the house.

The x-ray isn't the problem, it's the technician that you had who was the problem. I've had lots of these done between March 2016 and now and I haven't encountered any incompetent technicians like that one so far.
