    I'm not quite out of highschool yet, but I plan on becoming a dental assistant to save up for dental hygienist school, and this is honestly 1. helping me for later 2. showing me more and more about dental hygienist work and that this is legitimately something I think I would enjoy doing and 3. giving me a good example of a career choice that can grow like crazy (I have a slight hope of going from hygienist to dentist but I'm not super sure of that)

    Hi!
    Your such an inspiration to the young generation. Thank you for sharing videos about the dentistry.
    I want to become a dentist assistant. However, I have fear of X-ray . I researched about what are the pros and cons about dental assistant. The first website came up on google and said
    “ One of the most common health hazards besides pathogens that you will be exposed to as a dental assistant is x-rays. X-Rays are harmful if you are exposed to them in large quantities. There is also a minimal chance that x-rays can cause congenital disabilities. X-rays are known to cause cancer if you are overexposed. X-Rays can damage the human reproductive cells and change DNA, making it more likely for a person to develop cancer in one of their organs.”
    Can you explain me more about x rays .

    What’s the difference between a cavity vs. decay?
    And, how do you know you need a small filing or large filing?
    Lastly, if you have a very small crack tooth on the side behind your molar
    and has a cavity or decay, can you still go for Bonding rather than a crown?

      @@TeethTalk Hello again Ms. Whitney! Thank you for providing me the link to my questions ☺️. I’ve been a recent Subscriber of yours since last month or 2 months ago? I hope you continue to create insightful videos! 🙂 And continue to “Make A Difference” for Patients like us who knows absolutely nothing when it comes to the Dental field of expertise.
      Ms. Whitney, I am in terrible need of your Professional Advice. Just this late afternoon, I found out when I spoke to the Office Manager about a behavior, incident and experienced I had on the day of my surgery with one of the staff who was monitoring my blood pressure and heart regarding with her very rude behavior and un-compassionate demeanor, the Office Manager informed me that my Dentist has decided to terminate me as a patient and should be receiving a letter on the mail.
      I am in absolute shock because I wanted to speak directly to my Dentist before this happened to address an incident I had on the day of my surgery during Anesthesia procedure where I had an Anesthesia Reaction (as soon as the Anesthesia came to effect that lasted for a week) becoming completely unaware of my surroundings and what I was doing and once I gain my senses right before I fell asleep and realized I was touching/rubbing my Dentist’s arm I STOPPED IT!!! I’ve been meaning to speak to him about it because right after my surgery I noticed my dentist’s cold behavior towards me (which I feel utter humiliation). I wanted to simply address the Misunderstanding and resolve this matter but as you know this was extremely embarrassing incident so, I had a hard time attempting to speak about to him whenever I had the chance to talk to him on the phone 😔. Just when I mustered the courage to finally address it and before I could even schedule an appointment to speak to him on the phone with Fees, that’s when the Office Manager told me that the Dentist-Patient Relationship has been Terminated. I actually have notes and dates before today where I actually written down my Anesthesia Side Effects that I wanted to inform him including my embarrassing situation and ask him to Recommend me to another Doctor if I could not find myself to see him as my Dentist or no longer be treated by him as I wrote this on my note.
      Ms. Whitney, what action or next step can I do from here?
      I feel very hurt, misjudged and feel the unfairness in this matter of situation.
      Once I find a new Dentist, I intend to communicate with them of this incident of where I simply had an Anesthesia Reaction and my conduct is intended without malice. It is for this very reason I want to AVOID such Misunderstanding that could have been resolved only if I finally had the chance. And, would have the Staff’s grace and understanding if I acted out out of my character and would never such act on my behalf in sober’s mind.
      I am terribly grateful in advance for your words of wisdom, expertise and Professionalism 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

They owe you an apology for being heavily misunderstood and treating you poorly. You didn’t even get a chance to explain yourself. That’s really frustrating. I would be more mad at the dentist who misunderstood my actions post-anaesthesia and then terminated me, over the rudeness of his staff..Hope your mind settles from this rather disturbing event! I get that Xrays are useful, but I feel in the US they over do them. Also, isn´t one panoramic easier than taking multiple X-rays? Thanks for all the information, BTW.

    How do you know whether it’s left or right like how do you know which quadrant ?

    • @TeethTalk
      @TeethTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the patient's upper right is the first quadrant! so we always talk referring to the patient's mouth not ourselves. and the upper left while LOOKING at the xrays is actually the patient's upper right. sorry it's confusing via typing! hope this helps!

    I enjoy this thank you! One day I tried out a different dentist and he tried to say I needed so many fillings etc and knew he was full of s*it because I knew enough about tooth x-rays 😂! A previous dentist hygienist tried to say my brace pegs where cavities 🤨

    X-rays are important. You can have a very small cavity that’s painful or a very large cavity or one under the tooth that you don’t feel at all. You just really never fully understand what’s going on under there that’s why X-rays are important. You could have serious problems brewing and not even know it until you’ve done the X-rays.

    I had a filling done about a month ago. I haven't been able to chew on that side of my mouth since the filling. Now a month later I have a swollen face. So, I just had an x-ray and it showed a small infection around the root of the tooth.. The dentist said the tooth was able to be moved a little. He said my options are extraction or root canal. If he is moving the tooth, will it continue to move after the root canal? Would it be better to just pull it?

    So there is mo way to reverse a beginning of a cavity ? You can't use a rebuilding-enamel toothpaste or rinse to stop the cavity from growing ? Also, what if a tooth is translucent ? You could see through to the tongue behind it. Thx. This is very informative.

    • @TeethTalk
      @TeethTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      hi friend! if the cavity has not passed the DEJ (the line between the dentin and enamel) - often times flossing and fluoride toothpaste can help stop the process. hope this helps!
      as far as the translucent question - that one is difficult to answer without a proper exam. always suggest you visit your dental office for any concerns about individual teeth. hope this helps!

    I was taught that decay in the enamel should have a sealant

    • @TeethTalk
      @TeethTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've heard of this philosophy - as long as the decay is removed beforehand! It depends on the style and technique of the dentist!

    Is ultrasonic scaler is safe for teeth enamel or not

    • @taylorpiercey3190
      @taylorpiercey3190 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, as long as the clinician is using the correct sides of the working end (metal tip) and properly adapts the instrument. In addition to removing calculus (plaque) deposits, they are great for removing stain as well.

    Is it possible a shadow near the root of s molar ( #16 ) that looks like it might be an abscess , will clear up if the patient is experiencing a flare-up in there autoimmune disease . If so , would N-Said's or even prednisone ( say 10 mg 's for 5 days with a taper of 5 mg's for the following 7 days ) clear up a -- maybe -- abscess from. forming into a full blown infection ? If so and x-rays confirm absent of shadow , , would RCT still be in order ?

    I'm looking at getting a root canal after a crown has already been placed on my last lower tooth/molar. Since the crown, I can't bite down and the tooth/crown remains sensitive to temp (hot/cold, and even room temp water hurts). It's been almost 4 months, but my dentist can't find any issues so is referring me to an Endodontist. I've heard root canals are a bad choice, but what other choice do I have? None, really.

    • @StStStS
      @StStStS 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Just removing the tooth. If it is visible you could have a single denture made. They are not always very expensive.
