    I have an infected molar #30 that’s dark grey in between the roots and on the bottom of the root (from what I understand that is an abscess or infection) but around that is pretty white (dense?) compared to the gray area on left side of my jaw pano x-ray, what could that mean? Thank you for your help.

    Dr Rich, can the entire thyroid be shielded effectively without impairing the visualization of the mandible's health? I thank you in advance.

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, it depends on the person. It's difficult to position the thyroid collar perfectly during a panoramic x-ray. Fortunately the beam is shot at an upward angle so the thyroid isn't in the path of the beam, but it can get some back scattered radiation as the x-ray beam reflects off of teeth and bone.

    Hi Dr why didn’t you further pursue as dental specialist? I’ve always wanted to know why some stay as general dentist for years? Would love to hear from your perspectives

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hi, as a general dentist I can perform a variety of procedures, specialists only perform procedures that are part of their specialty. I enjoy the variety. If there was a certain procedure that I absolutely loved, I might have considered a specialty, but more years of additional schooling was not something I wanted to pursue right after dental school. Most specialty programs are another 2 to 6 years of training after dental school.

    Just curious what this type of x-Ray would be used for? I had one of these quite a long time ago for braces.

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, panoramic x-rays are used by orthodontists to check to see if all the adult teeth are present, they're used to check on the status of wisdom teeth, and they can be used for implant placement. For people without a lot of fillings or without periodontal disease, I'll recommend a pano and a set of bitewing x-rays instead of a full mouth series of x-rays. A full mouth series is typically 14 periapical x-rays and 4 bitewing x-rays of the teeth.

    i got my x ray done few weeks back nd in one of my tooth it showed a cavity( on the inner side) i told my dentist about It, and then we had a separate x ray for that tooth, but that x ray showed no cavity? dentist told it might be a false call or something? is it possible???

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, it's possible. A panoramic x-ray isn't the best at showing decay. Bite wing x-rays or periapical x-rays are better. Traditional dental x-rays are 2D images of 3D structures. A CBCT scan will produce a 3D image. Those are usually done when implants are placed or if a tooth needs a root canal.

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, this x-ray is used to look for peri-apical radiolucency's, which could be infections or cysts. If your dentist is diagnosing cavitations, run away.

    Dr. Is mental nerve in danger from a infection to a premolar infection?

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental

      @VeryNiceSmileDental  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lauren.
      If your denture is rough, your dentist should be able to smooth and polish it. I know we talked about allergies to denture acrylic. I've looked more into it and most people have a sensitivity to the monomer. Talk to your dentist about your situation. Have you seen a neurologist to rule out nerve issues?
