Because they do get loved. Farmers are numb to it as the death of cows in herd is natural. Old cows are very expensive to take care of. They aren’t just used for meat. They are used in many other applications. For example, the hooves get keratin extracted and that’s used in many shampoos. They produce insulin too

I agree with the general sentiment and the reprehensible and unjustifiable harm being done to animals, yet I think drawing these comparisons is wrong and does more harm than good.
It can be very triggering and unsympathetic for the people who had to live through this or lost their family in the Holocaust. This is more of a provocation to see the brutality, I understand that, but even when cutting out the part of human decency towards others in using one group of people that has been decimated against other beings which are being brutally killed and the fact that this hurts individuals affected, this is also factually wrong.
The Holocaust had the objective to literally obliterate an entire ethnic/religious people, exterminate every last one until no one was left because of unreasonable hate and the conceived 'superiority' complex of N*zis which made them desire a disgusting ideal of only having their own ethnic group remain.
The reasons to slaughter and exploit all those animals is completely different; people want to use them for food - which does not make this in any way, shape, or form justifiable but it just shows that this completely counteracts an eradication of a species. Quite in the contrary, we artificially breed thousands over thousands of these poor individuals into existence every day just to sustain their population.
Those animals are also seen as inferior and are brutally killed and this is a great injustice of the contemporary world, yes, but why do we need to use, almost prey upon, one suffering in order to raise awareness for another, completely different and not really comparable one? Let's rather try constructive but blatant spreading of information and awareness of these atrocities instead of utilizing the pain of other marginalized communities.

I can't save them all...I can't stop this completely...but just because you can't save all animals from this fate by yourself, doesn't mean you don't have a profound effect on some. Each animal is individual, and we, as humans wouldn't give up trying to help if our own young were suffering. The few individuals you do save from this life are profoundly and deeply affected. Each living creature that is alive and well because of your actions would tell you it was worth it. Each mother who didn't have to lose her baby would thank you from the bottom of her soul. You are making a difference one living being at a time- and that matters.

Also, vegans agree that breeding puppies is immoral, so your point is moot and a textbook case of whataboutism. You're trying to morally implicate the vegan so they stop criticizing the dairy industry, but it doesn't matter what happens to dogs. We're talking about how immoral it is to consume dairy. Stay on topic. It is not okay to exploit a female cow's reproductive system, take her baby, and steal her milk so humans can consume it. Hi, ex dairy farmer here.
      1. By taking away the calves it means we can put them in a pen with others so we can needle them for diseases and things they won't be immune to if they were to stay out with the mother. Mother's milk is vital yes, but like humans, that milk isn't going to protect you from anything.
      2. Taking them out of the while and putting them in a shed as some do, protects them from foxes who can target calves and mothers giving birth. Now if you have ever seen what a fox can do to a calf and a full sized cow while in a vulnerable position, you'll never trust them again. That's why foxes are hunted. We have had calves in the night who have lost tongues and tails. We have bad a mother who had a teat ripped off while giving birth. Now tell me dairy farmers don't care.
      3. If a calf isn't needed for adding to the herd, it can stay with the mother if it doesn't get sold. However, if you don't take the calf away from the mother, that calf can continuously suck on the mother's teats even after they have dried up. You have no idea how frustrating this is for a mother cow, no idea. It's consistent harassment 70 percent of the day.
      4. As with anything, things are generalised. You will find that because one person has shown a poorly maintained farm or doesn't treat his stock right it means that every farmer is like this. You need to realise this is a business, you don't make money off sick stock. It takes thousands of dollars to feed them. This includes grain to feed them, seed to plant, fertiliser to grow the grass, fuel to keep machinery going, maintenance on that machinery, thousands on water to irrigate paddocks so the germination reaches maximum potential and to hose down dairies after cows have shat everywhere, money for medical equipment so calves can grow up free from insects and potential internal problems.
We need to make sure we have guns to protect our stock from foxes (whom people love oh so much) and that odd dog that wants a thrill kill.
Dairy farmers farm for the milk yes but they wouldn't do it if they didn't love working with animals. There's nothing more distressing finding out the cows have broken through your new fence and are out on the road where they can be hit by drivers who may or not be paying attention to the road. Some farmers play classical music for their cows to help calm them down, some put out big brushes in their paddocks because cows love to scratch soooo much. Calves grow up and some a put back in the herd so mother and calf are together again. Have you ever seen a cow reject her calf just as it was born? Now THAT is heartbreaking.

Everyday, I see more evidence of vegan dishes for example available in restaurants, chocolate shops, and even ice cream shops!
Certainly, we have a LONG way to go but here are some simple things you can do. This weekend for example, I asked two local bakeries about what ‘vegan’ options they had; neither was outstanding but they made an effort and one even checked the recipe file for the products. At the chocolate shop, they indeed had some that were clearly vegan; a couple we were told were but on reading rhe ingredients at home ‘they weren’t. If you are told a product is ‘vegan’ take time in the store (hold the line up if necessary) and read the ingredients. We just have to keep asking. We ordered Indian food one evening. We had the owner describe the vegan options. He was most willing. Everyday I am asking about vegan options. If we all do the same, the message gets reinforced and proprieties will increasingly learn there is a demand - that is growing. It also makes an impact on other customers around you as it makes them reflect on their choices. Let’s all work together. A Proud Vegan.

I did work experience before I was vegan when I wanted to be a vet on a dairy farm. the milking parlour looked exactly the same, although the one in the video looked much cleaner (cows hadn't pooed all over the place and the milking machines yet). there were isolation areas for calves. the hardest thing I saw was one of the cows teet's had been damaged by kicking and the end was sort of hanging off- so all the milk from that one teet would be bloodied. the farmer said it would cost about £150 to fix it. so the cow was sent to the slaughterhouse the same day.
this was a uk 'nice' farm as we are marketed, and I really see no difference between it and the one in this video, the cows were still yelled at with hit with rubber tubing if they did not voluntarily go where they were told
cows are still slaughtered and exploited in the dairy industry.

Sir/maam you must understand that this happens to 1 out of 900 cows and injuries are something that will happen no matter what, the life expectancy and survival rate if offspring is much greater on farms than in nature and the cows dont starve in the winter like in nature. Cows walk into the milking shed willingly

    • @rachelback563
      @rachelback563 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

@@lordoftherims436 cows do not 'willingly' walk into the milking shed to have their milk, made for their offspring stolen for human consumption. They are herded in because they are afraid and herd animals, when they don't comply they are hit (how brutally is dependent on the farm), the farm I was on used a robotic metal gate to force the cows into a smaller and smaller space so they had to enter the milking lines. Some cows yes were more compliant because they had been conditioned after so long to just comply and avoid conflict, but the cows who had only first calved recently would kick at the milking machines and be visibly uncomfortable. I do understand injuries are less frequent as a reason for slaughter (although after researching, your 1 in 900 seems misguided and I would encourage you to find evidence to support this before using it as an argument) , but regardless every cow should she become unable to carry any more babies will be slaughtered. All of the cows who go in the milking shed were artificially inseminated in the first place, and there is nothing willful about being held in a metal cage that prevents movement, and having a farmer forcibly impregnate you. Cows lived naturally in the wild as part of our ecosystem, the ones we see in farms are selectively bred to be as beneficial to us as possible. They are bred into a life of subservience and suffering, I think it would be more moral to stop breeding cattle for our consumption/benefit, and to let that farmland repopulate with wild animals. There are also sanctuaries like Edgar's mission that rescue farm animals and give them happy, safe and comfortable lives to live out the life span they were supposed to have.

My only regret about becoming vegan was that I didn't do it sooner. At least we'll be on the right side of history when the world comes to its senses and realizes what a bizarre and harmful tradition it really is.

@@JesusChrist-bq6lu first of all the meat u are eating is not made naturally we are forcing the pig/cow/chicken to breed which is against the nature, with some hormones injection as well to increase productivity. 2nd, livestock farming is using most land on Earth 5x more than plant farming. Thereby creating more deforestation which cuts off oxygen supply... u choose now u need oxygen or not??? Cow gut's got methanogens (bacteria) which produce methane (green house gas stored lot of heat than CO2) as waste. For balance diet, can easily achieve by vegan food such as soybeans 100gm (52gm protein + dietry fibres+ calcium+ minerals+ no cholesterol), beef/pork 100gm (24gm protein with no dietary fibres+ cholesterol risk of colon and artery disease). Lentiles, chickpeas, beans etc... 100 gm (20-28gm of protein +dietry fibres+no cholesterol & fat). This is misconception that plant based food do not provide balance diet. @Max Smith this is an issue that effects everyone in the world because animal agriculture is the largest contributor of pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Also, most of the plants grown in the world are used to feed farmed animals, and all of those plants could be used to literally solve world hunger. There are so many more reasons to care about this issue, it's not just caring about cows. So just because it's not what you would like to fight against doesn't mean that it makes someone who cares about it a low person. Everyone has their passion and their calling in the world, don't put people down for fighting in something they believe in just because it's different from what you believe.

I wish to start a Sanctuary for these animals like save them or buy them from Dairy farmers and give them a New life
And if possible take the Baby cow and the Mother and re unite them
That would be a site to see wouldn't it
Along with Goats, Sheep, Chicken (especially male chickens), and Rodeo Horses any animal that is used for Exploitation to live a Life of pain would be at that farm knowing Love and Passion living a Life that a Being deserves

That way the terrible act of the rape at least lead to something good - more personal pleasure for me and the other rapists.
      Sounds off, right?
The point of quitting dairy is to over time lower the consumer demand so much that the industry crumbles. Just like we have seen with animals exploited for fur. It became so socially unacceptable over time, that more and more people stopped using it, and thousands of farms stopped breeding animals to exploit, and shut down. In some countries it even became illigal eventually.
It might sound improbable now, but this is how every social and ethical development ever has happened. More and more poeople oppose the status quoe, while investors pay for the development of new solutions (which is already happening). It likely that in a hundred years, we don't breed cows any longer to milk their breastmilk and shoot their calves - because people like the op and millions of others opposed it, and new and healthier, cheaper, tastier and sustainable options took its place.

It's disgusting, and I cannot even take him seriously anymore because he constantly tells me how I'm in the wrong for no longer incorporating dairy into my diet, however, he's the one who can barely walk because his bones are too weak, constant stomach pains and napping throughout the day? Absolute joke that he lives off dairy, meat and omelettes, and never incorporates fruit and veg, as it's apparently "too harmful for his body"...what?!

    • @fromeveryting29
      @fromeveryting29 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

@Xavier Rodriguez Hence why we should use that advancement to find more efficient, healthy, sustainable and morally progressive ways to get our nutrition.
You are right, no modern western life is in any way natural. We find ways to cut out unneccecary labour and exploitation. That is exactly what a plant based diet does. It reduces cost, cuts out middle men, saves land, water and tons of other rescourses and provides a diet with all nutrients we need. It's only a question of time until foods that are perfectly designed for humans can be produced, but market power, human lust and "tradition" is holding that progression back. It's all market driven. As long as major companies can earn money on people not giving up habits, this advancement will take a long time.
If humanity really was interested in the future of their own children and the welfare of life in general on earth - we would do away with the animal exploitation in no time. Sadly, but not surprisingly, the world is run by people who want money and power.

However, it seems unlikely that the worst farms would allow him to visit, let alone film. I grew up surrounded by dairy farms and visited them often. Some definitely offer a better quality of life than others. And yet, none of them had figured out a way to make a cow indefinitely produce milk for no reason. Even on the kindest farms, dairy cows must be forcefully impregnated on an annual basis, separated from the calves so the milk can be sold and not consumed, and slaughtered prematurely (usually 4-5 yeas old out of a 20+ year lifespan) when they stop producing. Any other practice cuts into the farmer's profits which, in the U.S. at least, are so slim they can be nonexistent. (Annual federal dairy subsidies funded by taxpayers are equivalent to 73% of the farmers' marketplace revenue an are the only reason most dairy farms still exist in the U.S.).

@@hanphilnoffz8827 It is 110% possible to survive without meat - Millions of people around the world, including myself do it everyday. We don’t NEED meat. We WANT meat to satisfy our pleasurable taste buds. We’re actually NOT designed to be carnivores. If you remembered simple World History from High School you were taught about our ancestors in Paleolithic times and their Natural diet; consisted of high amounts of nuts, berries, vegetables, and other various plants. As humans got more advanced and families got larger we needed to up the game of food supply so Males began hunting animals. Hence the name Hunter Gatherers. Keep in mind Hunting was not always guaranteed, but the Earth always supplies the nutrients from the ground (the Gathering). Therefore even though we began to eat small amounts of flesh our main diets revolved around plant material. Which is also why we have square like morals in the back of our mouth made for crushing nuts and fibrous plants rather than razor sharp blades to tear flesh like a lion would. We don’t have claws or sharp nails to attack our prey. We have soft square like nails. And Also why our intestines can stretch 22 feet long - to break down all the fiber from plants. Carnivores have single short intestines which make it easier to break down meat. They also swallow there bites whole and raw in which they have extremely strong stomach acids to kill any bacteria in it. We however lack the enzymes to break down meat which is why we must apply heat to the flesh before consuming it. Since it takes an unnatural amount of times to digest this flesh and because we lack certain chemicals to break it down there is a rise in Colon Cancer that’s related to high consumptions of meat. Cardiovascular disease also effects many Americans today because our high meat diets. There’s so many other ailments that meat causes in the human body but it’s too much to type all here. Because I’d also like to remind you that the rate of animals being bred, slaughtered, and packaged for our conveniences is indeed unsustainable. Set aside the health risks of eating meat for a minute and let’s look at the environmental catastrophes that are happening because of Agriculture. In the last 40 years 20% of the Amazon Rain Forest has been destroyed for the production of Agriculture and is expected to be gone in about 50 years if humans don’t counteract this problem. 1 hamburger Patty (so your McDonald’s Cheeseburger) takes 660 Gallons of water to produce. Agriculture accounts for 70% of human fresh water consumption. Livestock is a major contribution to growing green house gasses, each year they contribute 14.5% to climate emissions. Over grazing for lands contribute to environmental instability. These are just some of the facts of what our habits are doing to the world. Now yes, you may be thinking “Well don’t crops contribute to the effects of Agriculture?” Yes they do. ALL Agriculture today is going to effect the environment because of the 8 billion people it has to feed. But there IS A WAY to do it where we can minimize the environmental effects, while savings lives, and generating healthier human populations. And the answer is simple: Eat less Animals, Eat more Plants. Plant based - agriculture generates 1.5 Trillion MORE pounds of “product” than animal agriculture. We can feed MORE people while REDUCING our climate emissions to HAlF of per produced calorie of plants grown! If the whole world were ready to make the change we could use the crops that’s grown to force feed livestock and give it to people who are starving. We could honestly solve world hunger! We could use the land that’s being forced to breed animals, for crops that PEOPLE can eat. We can do it. But the change starts with each one of us. It starts with you.

Our milking machene is great because we don't have a certain time when they are milked, the cows go and walk in there then they feel they need to be😄🙂

That’s not true. I’m a Dairy Farmer for Dairy Farmers of Canada, this video is in the states. In Canada the cows are left with their babies for about 4 months then they get a whole field of grass and when they wanna be milked they come in to the robots and they get milked (they get a treat when they get milked)

We have our own cow and we milk her because she would otherwise be in pain. If she were to stop giving milk tomorrow, then we would most likely get another calf and drink nut milks until they were producing. We are already thinking of getting one because our girl has been so desperate for a baby of her own. We see it as protecting from the future they would otherwise have in a dairy farm. An adult cow makes too much milk for any healthy baby and just leaving it could cause them pain. When our girl stops producing, we will still keep her for the rest of her (hopefully) long life.

The naked thieving exploitation, and the sadness in the eyes is unmistakable. I hope millions of people see it sooner than later.

Joanne Wink you aren’t a horrible person. These videos, and the whole vegan message, are built on making people feel the way you do.
You watched an 8 minutes video that is filled with LANGUAGE that is specifically designed to evoke bad feelings. Manure does not just “rot and fester”, all cows are not motherly (some are some aren’t), and cows aren’t humans. They do not think like humans, don’t operate like humans, and very likely don’t feel like humans.
Unlike this guy, I spend every day with cows. My life revolves around them and doing what is best for them. Some things are unpleasant of course, but name one life form that doesn’t have unpleasant experiences in their life? It’s as inherent to life as pleasant experiences are. I mean, you were just made to feel unpleasant by this guys 8 minute biased video.
If you love dairy but hate massive farms, look into organic milk and grass milk. Although there are SOME bs organic farms, the vast majority are small grazing centric family farms.
If you have real questions about dairy farming and would like to hear from someone who is involved with animals beyond making “trendy” vegan videos, feel free to contact me.
