Great video and a delicious looking turkey. I've had mine for 5 years so I know it tastes even better than it looks. 2 things to add. 1. Charbroil makes a collapsible basket which makes life so much easier for turkey cooking and clean up, it nestles into those four slots cutout on the top rim. 2. The more you cook food/season your can, the shorter your cook times will get. My first time a 12.5 lbs turkey took over 3 hours, last Christmas I did a 14.5 lbs turkey in just over 2 hours. The more you cook the better this thing performs. Enjoy your Big Easy, I'm sure you already do.
I have had the Big Easy for 5 years. It is a great product and is as simple as it looks. A couple of years ago, I bought one for my brother because he always wanted me to cart mine to Thanksgiving, which is three states away.
Lol! I'm liking it so far and have the Thanksgiving turkey in it as I write this. Besides the fact that it cooks good and quick, it frees up the oven so my wife and I don't have to start cooking at 5:00 am since we need the oven for several other things.
Bird looks like it turned out great! I've had the larger version for a couple years now and love it. I'm lazy, so I line the bottom with foil and poke a hole in the middle for the drippings to drain out so I don't have to clean it out after each use
For the first two years I hated my big easy because it would take me four or five hours to cook a fourteen lbs turkey. What I found out two years later was that if you crank the propane tank open real fast and light up the big easy the gas comes out slower thru the regulator. I should have been opening the valve much slower.
I wasn't aware of that. I have found a few times the cooking took longer than what it should have and I would bet that was the likely cause since I just open the valve quickly. Good advice and I'll be more concious of opening it slowly in the future. Thanks!
If you notice a smaller short flame it is because of this safety feature in all the new propane regulators. Just disconnect the hose at the bottle and wait a few minutes to bleed off the pressure. Reconnect the hose and then crack the propane tank valve open slowly. Just did my 12 lbs turkey in 2hrs. Thanksgiving 2022.
I just pick one up at local Lowe’s on clearance only paid $51 can’t wait to try it got just about every other grill /smoker always looking to try something new
That's an awesome deal, my Lowe's *never* has low clearance prices like that. I'm still really liking it. I live alone now which kind of sucks because I just don't need to cook much food these days but still use it several times per year other than just on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Great video of a great cooking device. I have owned mine for many years now and to this day it is still our favorite cooking method for Turkey. One suggestion...clean out the cooking vessel after each cook because once you find out that those drippings are liquid gold, you will never throw them out again. Makes amazing gravy! Thanks for sharing your video!
Thanks for watching! I'm also loving it so far. Two turkeys and one Boston butt so far and all have come out great. You know, I keep planning on using the drippings and although I haven't yet, next time I use it I will. 👍👍
Thumbs all the way up!!! Thank You for this, especially how to set up the fryer. A friend of mine got the Char-Broil Big Easy Oil-less turkey fryer and invited me over to do my Thanksgiving (2020) turkey. We social distance and just dropped the turkey in and just let the fryer do its magic...and magic it did!! I have been cooking turkeys every which way you can imagine for over 30 yrs and I must say this was the very bet turkey ever!! I usually hate left over turkey, but this one I looked forward to every day after Thanksgiving. Turkey sandwiches were the best!! So I have ordered mine and due to high demand, mine is coming on Jan 6 from Amazon.
That's great! I have to say, it does something really awesome to whatever you're cooking. There's no way I'd go back to regular frying (or roasting) since using this. Thanks for watching! 👍👍
I've had mine for over 8 years and after tasting the 1st turkey out of it I got rid of my oil fryer I don't have to worry about getting rid of oil anymore
I agree. We used to fry turkeys for both Thanksgiving and Christmas but after using the oil-less turkey fryer, that became a thing of the past. It cooks them so well and as you said, not having to fool with the oil, makes it so much easier.
Great video I have had mine for years and experimented a lot with the injection. This past week I injected the turkey with pecan praline whiskey< I also came back after the whiskey injection and injected butter into the breast. The turkey was really good with a light pecan taste. Give it a try sometime
Funny story. Last year planned to use my fryer, but the rain moved in, thought about frying on my back screen porch But decided against it. Ah, the oven ! I am a widower and only use the oven to store my cast iron skillets. I removed them but did not know how to turn on the oven. I panicked and called a neighbor lady for help. She left her family dinner to drive over to get me going. I used a browning bag. Wow, I really felt stupid. Btw the Turkey was great.
It's sure looking good. I just purchase the Char-Broil The Big Easy TRU-Infrared Smoker Roaster & Grill. Will have to try the pork rib this weekend. What is the size of the basket?
@@AllAmericanMack The Big Easy SRG is little larger. The inside pot 18"H x 14"W and the basket 14"H x 11.25" W. I go with the larger version because can grill a large enough 15lbs turkey and room for couple racks of rib. There is plenty of room on the grate for other thing as well.
@@AllAmericanMack The SRG has been discontinued for awhile. The ribs and chicken that I cooked turn out great. I wish Weber or other manufactures come out something similar with better quality build. I seasoned my SRG inside/outside 2 days ago. Hopefully, it will last more than my previous Charbroil gas grill. I live in rainy state so cheap quality grill don't last long.
Thanks for the video. Trying to decide between the big easy and a traditional oil air fryer. If you could only have one to fry a turkey which would you use and which tastes better overall?
Big easy hands down. The only draw back is cooking time. If your frying one it might take a hour vs 2.5 to 3hrs with the b.e. Just get a good wireless thermometer, stick it in the thickest part of the turkey and wait.
I agree. The Big Easy does take longer than oil frying but that's the only con. I've fried turkeys in oil before but don't plan on doing it ever again unless I needed to cook a *lot* of turkeys. Not having to deal with buying the oil and the messy cleanup is enough but I think the turkeys cooked in the Big Easy come out better and jucier plus you aren't restricted to smaller sized turkeys either.
Thank you so much guys! I bought one two days ago just in time for thanksgiving and I came back to watch you video one last time. It was a lifesaver being someone who never cooked a Turkey before. Thanks again and happy Thanksgiving!!
Great looking bird 👍I'll be using this thing for the first time this Thanksgiving (wish me luck) I'm also making a15lb turkey so roughly 2 1/2 hours you say? How long did it rest?

Great video! Char-broil owes you. I have used mine for 2 Thanksgiving meals. Both birds were like yours. Also got the tray that adds capacity for chicken breast quarters. Be aware, top shelf cooks quicker. Where is your marinade recipe?

Be careful with the drip pan, first year I did a turkey , I forgot about the drip pan when I was done. Picked up the fryer started walking, drip pan fell out all down my legs. But I guess if You use drippings you won't forget the pan.
Oh snap, hope it wasn't still hot!! I can totally see forgetting about it since it's kind of hidden out of the way. I don't know if I'll be using the drippings or not but great reminder!!
I only use the screen when it's colder outside and occasionally at the very end of cooking for additional browning. I live in the deep south so it's not uncommon for the temp to be in the 60's even in winter. I will only use the lid if it's in the 40's or colder and as I said if it hasn't quite browned enough when it's nearing done.
