Tiger's score from this tournament: 68-65-65-65 (-25) Won by 3 strokes over Geoff Ogilvy. This is footage from arguably the best golfer that ever lived, arguably in his prime. Something very special.

Arguably in his prime? Tiger from June 2000 - April 2001 is the greatest anyone has ever or will ever play in this game. In that 10 month span he won all 4 majors + The Players, holding the 5 biggest prizes in golf at the same time. His unadjusted scoring average was sub-68. He entered 18 PGA Tour events during this span and won 8 of them, and even prior to the 2000 US Open he had won 10 of 17 Tour starts including 6 in-a-row. Oh and he didn’t miss a cut until his 10th year on Tour and still has less MCs than Jordan Spieth.

I don’t get people who say jack is the best who ever lived just because he won more majors. Do you know how dominant tiger was in an era where golf was super competitive? Could his career have been a little longer he probably could have won even more but that really doesn’t even matter. Nobody has as many big dominant tournament wins as Tiger, nobody even had a chance to win when he was in his prime.

It is a pretty swing. But he was crooked off the tee. Jack and Hogan were able to hit driver and hit the fairway. Too bad Tiger changed his swing and stopped winning majors in 8 years later in his prime. I know he won the Masters in 2019 which proves his body was able but the stem cells and possible steroids made his latter day swing look unnatural.

Well said. I'm not saying that he is the best player ever to pick up a club over the course of his whole career,(still in progress) but at this point in his career, he was the most deadly golfer ever. He would absolutely make a fool of everyone on tour today. Tiger was a GREAT, all the new guys winning recent majors are just testament to the tour being occupied of really good players and very few great players.

I was a regular at Alpine Golf Club where this event was held. The whole country was excited to see Tiger at his peak and boy, was he delivered....
I was there on day 3 when he shot the easiest 65 you ever wish to see... Basically, 2000 Tiger was a complete machine of a golfer. No visible weakness in his game. The course was closed one and a half month in advance to grow the rough and get everything in place to be as difficult as it could be. Tiger fucked it all up when he was there.
All 4 days he teed off mostly with the 2 iron and he completely dominated the par 5s (he most probably birdied all of them). His long iron tee shots traveled 260+ yards with very little rolls and divots as big as dinner plates. I've been to more than a few tournaments but his play stuck with me... the sound, the atmosphere. It got to the point when every player and fan knows he will win easily.
    He's unreal.

    • @timkozlow5258
      @timkozlow5258 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

I saw him play live at the Canadian Open in this era. I think it was 02 . Even on the range you could see he was so much better than anybody else out there. His ball flight was different. The sound, everything. He won this tournament easy.
      You'll never see that again.
I watch this video a lot. Just to remember what he was like. If your a fan of golf it does not get any better than this!!

Tiger Woods said Hogan's was the most accurate of all time especially off the tee. Statistically, Hogan was the most accurate from tee to green....ever. And Hogan had the best looking swing of all time. I tremble to think what Hogan would have done with modern irons and woods and golf balls.
Having said all that, Tiger Woods in my opinion is the best putter of all time. Time and time again he has pulled out so many wins with the short stick. And in clutch situations.

To me, this was Tiger at his best. Especially in his short irons, I don't see the violent snapping of the left knee. Yes, he does (or did) have a tendency to do it on the course, but not here. No bobbing up and down of the head either as he does today. To me, a very level takeaway, with a mild shift of weight to the right side, and then a beautiful collecting of the ball through impact to a stable post into his left side... swinging well within himself. By Jim Hardy's definition, he looked like a 2-plane swinger. I believe this was emphasized in the brief drill he does where he extends high into his backswing (at 6:05). He's a 1-planer now. Here, the harder he hits the ball, the more he appears to post to his left side. The posting looks more exaggerated, but stable (5:18 thru 5:19). Also to me, it looks free-flowing... not violent. I've too seen Tiger give flawless "clinics" on the practice range (at the old Buick Open), only to see it all go awry on the course. Hard for me to understand how THIS swing could have ever gone bad.

Much more sound on the body rather than snapping the left knee into hyperextension with those super fast hips that were required with Harmon's version. Someone needs to send this footage to Tiger ASAP. THIS is the swing he needs to get back to.

Great footage of a time lost. Don't ever loose this, and thanks for posting. Can you find Vijay hitting balls from these different angles?
    Thanks.

Minute 2:38, that is the fastest range picker I have seen in my life.

    Dustin Johnson.
Adam Scott when he was with Butch.
Tiger's hip and knee action came from Tiger's natural swing. If anything, Butch tried to slow his hips down to keep him from getting stuck. He probably never asked Tiger to stop snapping his knee because it worked when he needed extra power, but that was all Tiger.. not something he was taught by Harmon.

One thing I just noticed watching Tiger circa 2000 vs now is that in 2000 he seemed to have different speeds to his swing (depending on what shot he wanted to hit). Now every swing seems to be the same speed. I wonder if this has taken away from some of his 'feel', consequently when he hits full shots, he's fine, but anything more/less, not so much......

Awsome footage. I would say that it is the best Tiger Footage on TH-cam. Who is the guy at the start and who is it at 1.00?

Looks effortless....unlike the stuff he's trying to force now. Smooth swing and no drop in the head. Looks amazing. And is it me or was the range picker flying?!
