- Ed Sheeran perforeming "Million Miles Away" live with The Offspring at BottleRock Napa Valley on May 29, 2024.
Statement from Ed Sheeran about the performance:
"The first album I ever bought was The Offspring - Conspiracy of One. I used to pretend to be in their band in the mirror and sing along to the album when I was 9, mostly to their song Million Miles Away as it was the first song of theirs I heard. I mentioned it in an interview and Noodles / Dexter got in touch with me when we found out we were all playing the same festival, to see if I wanted to get on stage and sing it. It was an instant yes obvz. Really felt like living out a childhood dream thank you for having me up there guys. Music is a wild ride, every day I’m so grateful to be living my dream in reality." - Ed Sheeran

Lyrics:
"Million Miles Away"
There was a time, looking through myself
Wanting to pretend
If I escaped, I could fill myself
I don't think you can
Been far and wide
But that hole inside
Never really leaves
When I went away, what I really left
Left behind was me
It's telling me
To be on my way
Home
O-o-oh, o-o-oh
Million miles away
O-o-oh, o-o-oh
Million miles away
I can't stay, I can't stay
O-o-oh, o-o-oh
A million miles away
Each passing day, every passing face
Seems like such a blur
I long to be
Home, silently
Lying next to her
Just to get back, by her side is all
All I need to be
I went away
But what I really left
Left behind was me
I need to be
Getting on my way
Home
O-o-oh, o-o-oh
Million miles away
O-o-oh, o-o-oh
Million miles away
I can't take, I can't take
O-o-oh, o-o-oh
A million miles away
It's telling me
To be on my way
Home
I can't take, I can't take
Million miles away
I can't take, I can't take
Million miles away
I can't take, I can't take
Million miles away
I can't take, I can't take
Million miles away
I can't take, I can't take
Million miles away
I can't take, I can't take
Million miles away
I can't take, I can't take
Million miles away
I can't take, I can't take
Million miles away

I don't get how the public is standing so still. If this happened in Chile, Argentina or Brazil, people would go CRAZY
Everyone’s busy recording 🙄
It's $2k per person for tickets for this festival. These are all rich, white people
we are diffferent brother.
Our crowd is the most wild, because we dont have many shows the whole time! So we enjoy like crazy
I don't know, because they are so cold, here in Argentina they would be jumping doing pogo
I don't know when it happened, but there's been this ridiculous thing in rock culture here where everyone worries about looking dumb it seems. "I don't want to look uncool" they think, so they just stand there and stare at the stage like it's a movie instead of moving around crazy and having fun.
I've never seen a crowd as motionless and checked out as this. Back in the day we'd be jammin' and having a blast. These folks are a million miles away.
Napa Valley crowd. Wine drinkers and middle agers go to this festival. Not geared toward a younger audience
It is California. People are clueless that live there.
I thought the same thing…
I saw them in 2022 and the crowd was the opposite of this. It was great.
too busy taking pics or videos with their phones
Whoever mixed this is the real MVP
How clean and clear is it!
probably a good amount of post here but yes it's a slamming mix!
@@spencermartin5622 Always varying degrees of post production in "live" recordings but what a mix indeed!
Absolutely
Indeed. Great decision to not include Sheeran's horrible strumming in the mix.
Even in the greatest of superstars, there is a little kid dreaming about getting to play with the band that made you discover music. I'm happy that Ed got to do this, and doing it really well. :)
A collab I would never have thought of but they killed it!!!
I love how everytime I see Ed with an electric guitar in his hands he has this grin he can't hide.
He knows every word, every note. He’s a real fan
yes, I respect him a little more now
Eds voice pairs so well. I was surprised
I didn't realize he was singing at first. It matches so well
The harmony of both voices is amazing!
Yeah! He fits right in
I agree 100%
Ed should do a punk rock album next
Hands down my favorite Ed Sheeran song 😂
Underrated comment 😂
For real though.
He's more popular in tiland..I guess they think he is Rupert the bear 🐻
😂
I'm not a fan of most of his music but check out a track called Blow it actually rocks
Ed sheeran and the Offspring?
Now i have seen everything.
I'm not entirely convinced there isn't anyone Ed won't collaborate with.
wait till the EdSheran Dani Filth collab
@@adrianofgold Dammit, that's an absolutely gorgeous idea, dude!!!
No sorry nothing to see here.
@@maxrudenko5775 It's already a thing. It just hasn't been released yet. I think Dani said 2025?
Ed Sheeran does the celeb thing right. Still raps with the homies, does cool shit with his idols and stays out of the drama.
One of the good ones!
Ipswich fan through and through too
I'm rocking out, and I'm 71. I love it ❤
I love when artists share a mutual love for music like this. Ed Sheeran has good taste. The Offspring = LEGENDS
yet all his fans are brain dead
Agreed
Still waiting for the Cradle of Filth collab with Ed! One day, maybe soon?
The crowd might be asleep but the boys on stage are having a blast, and that’s the best sight to behold as a fan ❤
The Drummer is killing it
Rest of the band are DED
Seeing this crowd makes me never wanna go to a concert again.
Just go anyone else in the world except our country lol.
th-cam.com/video/hXyZfbouUSc/w-d-xo.html
"I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet, but your parents are gonna love it."
In fairness, crowd is fairly dead ! Isolated groups into them but rest...
Go to Punk Rock festivals ❤
This is absolutely stunning. One of the best songs ever written and recorded.
I didn't know that Ed Sheeran was a The Offspring fan! He got some plus points : )
He has a tatoo so he might be a megafan
Dude the way he's been representing himself these years is awesome, the bmth collab, now this, he's turned out to be such a cool artist
He’s amazing.
He was a punk rock kid.
Is not was. He's still offspring fan right now
Ixnay on the hobre was the first ablum I bought. Couldn’t fall asleep without it. Thank you Offspring.
for me it was americana... and britney spears... xD (I wanted pictures of the girl and internet was not such a thing as of today)
@@tigrehermano I can’t argue with that logic. lol. Thus I had Avril’s first album. :D
Same. I cant remember how many times i had all i want on repeat 1 and fell asleep to it.
tell them....they gonna invite you on stage with them
Ixnay is such an underrated and underappreciated album!
I like that Ed is just running around playing with all his favorite people. Literally living every bedroom guitar players dream!
You can see on his face when he walked on stage just pure pleasure.
He doesn t care anymore… he just lives his Life !!! Hé finished the game!!
RELEASE THIS AS A STUDIO VERSION! Thumbs up!!!!
i love when bands brings random unknown local musicians on stage! i hope to see more of this Ed guy
He not unknown
@@Schnitzel_User sarcasm, man.
See, this is how a live mix/master should be done! Well done to both the band and the engineer(s) behind the production. Respect.
Amazing! And Dexter looks so healthy!
Never did I think that I would see The Offspring play Million Miles Away with Ed Sheeran! It's so cool to know that he was a fan and that that record was one of the first he ever bought! It's also pretty cool that he wanted to play Million Miles Away, underrated song! He and the band killed it 🔥💯🔥
My thoughts exactly!
Yeah! A great song and one of the very few they didn’t play in Anaheim last night. I’m a little jealous but the show was so good anyway it’s all good lol. I was secretly hoping they’d do Pay the Man. An ultimate deep cut but of course not. I’ll cross my fingers for a 30th anniversary of American in 2028
Ed Sheeran just keeps surprising me man. Mad respect for this guy.
I think this is the first time I have ever seen Ed Sheeran play an electric guitar
haha he had a Rock Metal Band before.
Dude, Ed Sheeran must be one of the chillest dudes in the whole music indutry, everybody loves him :D
Absolutely! Randomly pops up with Eminem, the offspring, and bring me the horizon. Love the range of music he likes
@@enjoipandas Also One Ok Rock + hanging out with Dani Filth and planning to make a song with Cradle Of Filth
@@ninexf had no idea. That’s rad! Thanks for heads up.
Not to mention The Darkness! This guy is living his best life, just getting to go and play on stage with all his favourite bands whenever he feels like it. Pretty epic!
He’s also got a big hiphop background and did a mad track with Devlin
Unspeakably badass. One of my favorite Offspring songs. And Ed Sheeran knows it??
+10 Awesome points to him
OD’ing on this currently.
Million Miles Away has always been a fave.
yeah same here, Special Delivery, Dammit, MMA, Denial Revisited, probably a few others that escape me right now
-edit: yeah, Vultures, i could go on for albums really haha
The Offspring - Вы Лучшие!!
Я вырос на ваших песнях!
Imagine, you only get a rockstar to fulfill your childhood dream
This could be a gateway to punkrock to a lot of ed sheeran fans! Love it!
"Million Miles Away" is one of your greatest songs!🔥 Please, keep it in your setlist😎
"Without my dad I would not exist. A lot of people helped make me who I am, but my dad is my main man. He taught me everything I know about honesty, right & wrong, and what it truly means to love people. He served in the Air Force, then went on to become an engineer, marry his childhood sweetheart, and raise a family. My mom passed away in 2020 after only 62 years of marriage. This morning my dad joined her after a short illness at age 85. RIP, my man. Thank you for the love & guidance. I will miss you forever. I wish you all could’ve met him. He would love you all, and you would’ve loved him".
Noodles
My prayers for you all
Rest in peace to your dad😢
sorry for this. He raised a good man in you!
aww dude.....all strength to you brother....
Rip to your dad bro
Take care of yourself and Family
Be strong
officially the first song with Ed Sheering that've liked.
So rad. Much respect to Ed!
This is an INSANE crossover, wild. Everyone on that stage is so talented.
Yeah! And almost everyone in the crowd was useless...
Ed Sheeran just notched up in my book that was pretty f****** cool
this version sounds amazing, especially the intro with noodles!!! dexter looks in great shape too!
Offspring Was the band that got me into Punk. Kindergarten To Grade 8 Gym Teacher Would play All their Albums Threw out our Childhood. (ON Cassette) RIP Mr Legacy
She is a badass! Keep rocking LP! 🤘🏼🎸
Seamless! Ed Sheeran did fantastic here and this live version is a 10/10!
one of my favorite Offspring songs,I wish they played it more live
Always loved this song. Sheeran sounds great on it. Dexter is looking really well these days. Running suits him.
He's looking great. 👍🏻 He still sounds the part too.
Ed smashed it.
He's living our dream boys
Thankyou to Ed for bringing this song back into the set, let's hope it stays there! What a dream come true for Ed and Dexter is looking in excellent shape now too!
I thought, man this crowd must be soooo old because they weren't dancing.
Then I saw the phones.
🪦
I'm glad I remember the old days.
I'm definitely not a Sheeran fan but this was epic. Also, Dexter is looking FIT 🔥
It’s that Gringo Bandito he eats. It keeps him tip top. lol. Fun fact in case you didn’t know. Dexter has his own hot sauce. Nothing extreme but the flavor is great.
If you listen or watched the pod cast they did he’s been running marathons
I was NOT an Ed fan until I saw him live last summer...I went with a friend who wanted to go...Ed's Live stuff was sooo amazingly different from what I ever heard on the radio! And, well, I'm an old school Offspring fan!! Totally enjoyed this collaboration!
@@alirichard5719 agreed. Was indifferent about him, but knowing he's a fan AND loves my favorite song too im gonna give his stuff a listen from now on.
Not for me I like my offspring without a pop star ruining it 😂
This is fantastic! Great job, guys. Dexter, you are looking fantastic and healthy! I am trying to get myself healthier and you are an inspiration.
Love to watch Ed having so much fun
Been a fan of The Offspring since i was 5, back in 1999, In 11 days time at Copenhell in Denmark, i FINALLY! get the chance to see them live, AND I CAN NOT FUCKING WAIT!
Ed Sheeran playing with The Offspring is so cool!!
Unreal and fantastic song choice
A incredible thing like that happen on the stage and the audience like a statues! Come to south america guys! The energy is here!
いつまでもカッコよくて大好きです❗️
Max volume on my headphones sounding awesome 👌
This genre of music will live on since a lot of pop stars are fans of bands like the offspring. They grew up listening to them. Pop was just a better option for them. Still, a collaboration like this is surreal
You can see it with folks like Billie Eilish saying how much she loved Green Day growing up, and you can hear in someone like Olivia Rodrigo's music how much folks like Paramore and others influenced her. Its really cool to see the influences come full circle 😍
This is pop too, come on
At first, The Offspring always was pop-punk, at second Ed Sheeran not first time at one stage with rockstars. Previously he made metalcore vershion of his "Bad Habits" with BMTH and present it in Brit Awards 2022. He is not a new guy in this genre of music.
@@polenoque i mean, it's probably not punk, i don't listen to traditional punk to really be able to speak on it, but mmm, to call em pop seems a bit misplaced still. I've never sat and dissected one of their songs to discover if the formula is super simple or what.. i think they have some creativity that lacks within pop, as wide a title as it seems to be, i mean we can call U2 pop.. but, it's still pretty Rock-y and to not mention it seems almost tonedeaf.
@@BaLaMuTt89 the offspring were not always pop-punk, check their first 2 albums
-How many guitars do you want?
-YES!
good thing is only a 4 power chords song
@@sebg2086 ...and arpeggios, octaves and alternating octaves
that's why Ed's clearly wasn't on lmfao
Thought the same.... the answer.... how many you got?
1 or 2 behind the drummer.... sure!
I love you guys, you make me happy
I'm not a huge fan of Ed Sheeran's songs, but omg I did not expect him to shred like this with the Offspring of all people. Amazing!
You mean play 8 different power chords?
Just wait....he collaborated with Cradle of Filth on a song. It's been apparently recorded and mixed, just waiting on release.
The Offspring, The Darkness and Busted are three of Ed's favourite bands. He needs to make rock material!
Dexter's voice is so good. Listening to him sing alongside someone like Ed, and shining brighter, is underrated.
I love The Offspring, my girlfriend loves Ed Sheeran and this? This is the greatest connection ever made!!! We can both listen to it! Also - Ed just fits there like he was part of the band from th beginning. Hope they will at least record this at studio and release as a single!
This sounds SO EFFING GOOD!!!
Good on you Ed👏performing with your idols in a concert is like a dream come true to any of us, thank you Offspring🙏🤘
Now that is to be praised! A boy who is on wave crest, super cool who has the new world at his feet and knows how to recognize the old school of Punk Rock. Without arrogance, envy but with a lot of education. Even so, because it's not even the style of music he plays. And seeing him on stage with this joy and simplicity is a pleasure!
I congratulate you Ed Sheeran. The only negative thing about this song is the audience. They look like they're fucking dead. They paid a ticket to see one of the best Punk Rock bands in the world and they're just standing there watching. Simply sad.
Never been much a fan of Ed Sheeran, not really my genre of music, but man do I LOOOOVE this collab!!!
Same here, but strange to hear he was a Offspring fan himself. That was an awesome performance and thank you to the band for posting it for us.
He has many genres of music. The tracks that are on the radio do not even touch his ability… dive into his full discography and you will hear folk, rock, rap, all combined together!!
@@Abby-lovebae If you can give me some examples of those songs, I'll check them out on youtube. Everything I've tried so far have been pop type songs.
@@pcthayer "Nancy Mulligan" is a traditional irish style song he wrote about his grandparents and it's great
@@StuartHetzler I listened to it and it is pretty good. I am a fan of that style music too (as well as the less traditional punkish-versions of Irish music like from the Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly)
Would absolutely love a studio collaboration on either a cover or an original song
A brain explosion, an incredible collaboration!!!
Went much harder than it had the right to.
Fantastic performance! "Conspiracy of One" is and always will be my favorite Offspring album.
This is the only album ever where you don't skip a single song
@@emmanuelgiraud For real!
This is great!! I always loved this song by the Offspring...Dexter looks and sounds great ❤and Ed Sheeran seems to be a cool guy .
Underrated song, epic collab
Dang what a Incredible rock show
Ed really should do more pop punk songs, it really sounds great.
Honestly with this and the bmth collab I feel like he could do a full on rock album and it would be really good.
A couple of years ago he did a rock song called "BLOW" together with Bruno Mars and Chris Stapleton that is really good. Not the outcome you would expect when putting dudes together from a Pop, R&B & a Country background.
This is my biggest gripe with ed. He could have written such better music.
Still cant believe the crowd... Speechless
f****g statues.. my god
All these years, and they still sound AMAZING. THANK YOU GUYS ❤
This is so great! Ed’s harmonies in the pre-chorus sound so freakin good with Dex’s voice!
WOWWWW I’m crying watching this! ❤❤❤
オフスプリング を好きになって20年以上、日本に来るたびに観戦に行ってきた。一度は海外での観戦に行きたい。
どんなに歳を重ねても変わらないデクスターとヌードルス大好きです。
The drummer never gets any love!
Spirit of rock.
I'm with Ed. Million miles away is one of my favorites also.
This sounded facking EPIC!!!!
Dexter is looking great
ed is really out here doing side quests at this point didnt see this one coming but he fits the song so well
This rocked. Loved the harmonies.
One of my favorite songs ever \m/ Never gets old. Nice job !
Well that was better than I thought it was going to be! Awesome song.
The sound of Offspring is just so instantly recognisable. Timeless
Too good 🔥 🔥
perfect duo i need that on spotify
Ed Sheeran performing with The Offspring music was awsome! Is there more?
Lets go!!!
Awesome, just like listening to it the first time it came out and i was still in something like 5th grade of school, ahaha :) Damn, the time sure flies fast.
They're BACK! and bigger than ever. Love Emily's personalized touches to the old songs and totally psyched with her addition in the new songs!
This is the best sounding live offspring ive seen in a minute . Nice
You have to release this full show for us please 😭😭
Jeeez, that's awesome! Thx for Sharing ❤
Dex sounds and looks great here
OMG, how I love this song!
Amazing
