    5:40 That's Spoelstra on the floor, challenging Steph with a SMILE on his face. That's what I love about Spo, he's coaching the most talented, convoluted team of his career with near-zero playtime together and he's fkn LOVING IT!
    Spoelstra doesn't get enough recognition for his coaching genius down here, same can be said of our scouts. It's not like Spo'Riley handpicks the players every year, they're TARGETED and then we get the best options for what we need with the cap limits we have left. Spo and Butler lead the team but those scouts deserve some time in the spotlight.

      @Hirtelen-pf1dp That's what happens when a sport becomes global. Talent can appear from the most unexpected places. And the way young players are formed makes total difference in how the strength of a national team builds up. As a brazilian, look Brazil. Once the greatest soccer nation by far, now is in second tier thanks to youth training programs that started in Europe in early 2000s. Now they have the strongest leagues, the best players and won every single World Cup except for the last one. If in one hand i don't believe US basketball will fall so hard, foreign players levels will keep raising sharply. Now most international professional leagues won't be just a bunch of bums practicing a niche hobby, but players who were raised in B.Ball culture and competed since their childhood against their neighbors, their local leagues and their countrymen, just like the US.

    I think people need to realize basketball is a team game. It’s crazy but having a full roster of all stars may not actually be the best thing. There’s only so many possessions and so many shots a team can take which is why a well rounded team usually is more effective. The sheer talent on the American squad allows them to win but people should not underestimate the chemistry and team play of some of these European teams. These guys grew up with each other and have played many years together.

  • @dejanrancic7409
    @dejanrancic7409 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I might be biased, but I would say that it was more the case of Serbia losing the game in the fourth than USA winning it. For three quarters we slowed the pace down to using almost every second of every attack, which didn't suit you at all. It's only in the fourth when the pace picked up, and the US team could start trading attacks, that the game turned around. Jokic being in foul trouble, but having to stay in the game was also a huge factor.
    It's apparent team USA doesn't know how to play a slow paced game. If France does in the finals what Serbia did in the semis, you'll see the repeat of last night's game, possibly with a different outcome. And do not underestimate the home crowd.
    The world has come a long way since 1992, and will only continue to progress. Do not presume that simply turning up is enough to win gold, even if you win it in this and future games. You are beatable.

    "They're certainly not the greatest basketball team ever assembled" Whys that? Because they're not doubling other teams score like the 92' team was doing against plumbers and part timers? Basketball has become international ever since, you can't compare the competition back then than what it is now, you have teams such as Canada(Shai), Greece(Giannis), Slovenia(Luka), France(Wemby), Serbia(Jokic), Spain, Australia, Germany and the list goes on with not only several NBA players on the roster, but most of the players in the MVP race or faces of the league. 30 years ago we barely had a foreigner in the league, now most of the best players in the league are foreigners. This is probably the most talented basketball team ever assembled and it's not even close, but talent is everywhere now.

He was able to assemble a team able to compete with one of the best teams the world has ever seen drafting from a pool of mostly semi pro players and normal tall dudes found on the streets (like their big man) under the cap of a bad contract with the Lakers!

    Team USA unsung heroes seem to be 1. Kevin Durant. USA barely won games that KD didn't play in. And now, he has the most points scored in the Olympics.
    2. Anthony Edwards has been one of the best two way players on the team as he brings intensity daily.
    3. I'm so happy that Steph Curry took over with his arsenal of plays. The needed Steph to step up since he has been regulated to playing in LeBron's system as he continues to pad his narrative of being the greatest...

      @@alexandervelasco8095 nah man, I argued this before with simply speculation on other videos and joined the warring debate, but that was just speculation. But after seeing their games live, I certainly have no doubts anymore. This is hands down the best team I’ve ever seen. If you look at the shots the competition is making, it’s ridiculous. The rest of the world have truly caught up. There’s simply no defending against the perimeter nowadays not because there’s no defense. It’s simply because everyone has gotten so good at shooting the lights out that the outer perimeter is actually a viable counter to a tough inner defense. If everyone just played big man ball, may the most talented team on the inside win. But now that we have the whole floor (with curry that’s basically possible) defense is basically impossible even for the oldies. That’s what we saw at the game with Serbia. They had such a tough inner defense, the guys rlly had a hard time, so to counter that, we have curry’s deep and/or quick release 3s. So at the end of the day, it’s seriously fair game.

    • @alexandervelasco8095
      @alexandervelasco8095 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@aaronyu2660 serbia definitely shot lights out for three quarters. I wasn’t worried until later in the 2nd half. No adjustments.
      But there’s no denying their defense was lackadaisical during those three quarters. They hardly even contested one shot. You saw when they started defending at the end. Serbia couldn’t make one. Which is their fault then as to why they were shooting lights out.
      If they were to play the dream team, they would have to be focused all game long to win. They won’t have any chance of coming back like they did.

    • @aaronyu2660
      @aaronyu2660 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alexandervelasco8095 If we’re talking Serbia, there’s no denying that their defense was good. The shots that the US made were amazing to the point where they were not defendable by any team by any means. But you’d be right if you’re saying this team USA didn’t defend. I will admit, the whole team’s defense was part of why the other team was able to go toe to toe with team USA. Even when the US defended, their opponents still were able to make some pretty tough shots by slipping through the defense and starting off with a bang. But this leads me back my point about players being in their prime. Jordan and many other players were in their prime, while James, KD, and Steph are gettin old and definitely way past their primes. The teams are also pretty inconsistent just cuz of their upbringing (these GOATS have tasted defeat before and got used to choking many times in their career, yet they are still one of the top of the top GOATS in terms of skill regardless of accomplishments). A lot of it has to do with the age and injuries. Ever since LeBron joined the lakers, you hardly see him even bend down during a hustle anymore when the ball is loose. Curry and Durant are never the same after their injury. They don’t have that athleticism anymore. You can just see it in their game. It’s just how it is. If you take into account their age AND the fact that they’re dominating the greats of the future with the talent the international team has, I’d have to say, this team is probably the greatest of all time.
