    Been running sotf tunes on multiple trucks for 60k plus miles on them and no issues. Only change from tune 4 for unloaded driving and tune 2 for towing. When I change I don't get into it at all. Just switch it and drive normal. No issues so far. My truck has 120k on stock everything and switch the tune everytime I hook up to a trailer.

    Makes complete sense what you said to wait and let trans to learn. I never knew either.

      Yeah, wish I would’ve thought about it earlier 🤣 I got my truck tuned and kept beating on her every tune till I had some trans issues.

    I was told by dirty diesel customs you don’t need to do a full relearn with sotf. That the trans is always “learning”. The initial relearn after a flash is important, you can even feel the gear shifts are harsh. Idk, there could be something to this, especially if you’re adding 200 hp and then beating on it. I have ran stock power for the last 7k miles and no issues (knock on wood). Took my sotf completely out so the temptation isn’t there!

      I thought about doing the same. Uploading 1 single tune and just letting it be.

      Is removing the SOTF as easy as it seems or is there more to it?

    • @Steadierpark
      @Steadierpark 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jackiecombs528yes it’s easy. It’s just plugged inline with your OBD 2. If someone put the knob into the plastic, either replace the panel or leave the knob. Just unplug it from the OBD 2, zip tie it up (if you’re leaving it) and that’s it.

    Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but the trans re learn process is only when the ecm is reflashed. The SOTF does not reflash the ecm so you shouldn’t need to drive 30 miles under 30% throttle.

    • @coreyadams4646
      @coreyadams4646 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats my thinking, relearn and reflash only. The Sotf switch only advances the timing of the fuel on higher throttles

  • @coreyadams4646

    Great video, awesome knowledge. My thoughts are this. I installed my revmax valve body 2 weeks ago. Did a tranny relearn using an autel scan tool. Driven the truck in the city only using 1 thru 4th gears for addition relearning for 100mi. The SOTF CSP5 selector switch only advances the timing of the fuel when switching and has nothing to do with any relearning. basically, the ruck has to be at half throttle to full throttle to full it rip. This is what is bad for the 68RFE. Ripping the 68RFE is deadly.
    Great video though, I have a 2012 with all mods done by me. Learned alot. But folks please dont rip these minivan transmissions because they are weak.
    Lets see what the 2025 ZF 8 speed trannys can do. I no 1 thing about the ZF tranny, there is no dipstick.
    Peace

    Also keep in mind everyone this only applies to the 68rfe in the 6.7 trucks. This doesn't apply to the aisin. Or 48re in the 5.9 trucks.

    • @adorno1010
      @adorno1010 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      what is the difference between the 3? asking because I have an aisin currently with trans tunning and want to make sure it's not different because of my tunning, I have higher shift points, elevated line pressure and no 2 to 1 down shift unless it comes to a complete stop

    • @Kahlo69
      @Kahlo69 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@adorno1010 The 48re was basically the newest of the old school 727 transmissions. It's a smart/dumb transmission. Production ended in 2007. Easy to build and great reliability. The 68rfe was the new 6 speed released in 2007 for the 6.7 trucks. It's all electronic. The aisin came out in 2013 in the 3500 trucks only and until recently was untuneable. It's the strongest in stock form of all the 3.

    Just got a 14 ram 3500 from the dealer ship.owned for 3 days and has that switch I didn’t know what it was meant for I thought subs. Until I decided to search it up tonight glad I did. Been taking it easy on her as she is low kms. How do you know if it’s working? Put in park and switch through them?what setting is 1-5

    • @JohnWargo93

      Depends on what tunes the guy picked when they tuned it. For example. Mines 30hp, 60hp, 90hp, 150hp, and 200hp.
      But I’ve seen guys have tune 1 completely stock, some guys do lope tunes or smoke tunes on higher ones. It all depends on what the guy picked when he had it done.
      I know mine work when I’m in tune 1 and the truck feels stock but I switch to tune 4 and it shreds all 4 tires in 4x4. So you’ll most likely have to drive around in each and see how she feels.

    Oops. I guess I shouldn't stand on the brake, mash the gas and release the brake pedal for fast take offs. 2021 3500 H.O. Its fun but tough on the equipment

    Hey, my SOTF doesn’t have TCM tuning just diff HP emm off tunes, I wanted to add TCM tuning using my auto agent 2 but I don’t know if I can with the switch. Is adding the TCM tune going to stay on if I stitch tunes on my SOTF?

  • @Sh3rwood
    @Sh3rwood 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Is that more for the initial “break in” of the trans?
    My tuner said to drive the 50 or so miles in setting 5 so the trans learns from that, then treat it as an actual sotf quick switch

    • @JohnWargo93
      @JohnWargo93  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Sh3rwood it’s just the instructions on the Revmax Valve Body I had installed. I was never told this either by my tuner or anything, only what I’ve read on my parts!

    Shift on the fly literally means shift on the fly. It just adds power. Your instructions say after a tune reflash? It’s not reflashing anything and it says you SHOULD be fine. The instructions aren’t even sure.

    Small criticism here, I notice you eagerly post "Upgrades" videos only to revisit them because they either sucked or broke
    1. Recon cab lights leak
    2. Tuner messed up the trucks trans
    3. Amp research running boards didn't fit OEM without afro-engineering
    4. (pending) Light bar in the grille i'm sure will be next
    5. (Pending) half the C5 mods you did. lol
