Thomas sir first of all lots of love from India for such a wonderful video but could you please specify how loose must our fingers be? Just touching the grip or medium tight loose combination
Very nice video as always! I have a question. Could you please tell me some gym exercises for badminton? And the frequency of strength, endurance, speed, agility training if possible? Thank you! 😊
First of all my greetings to Thomas sir, sorry for posting this question here but since it was the most recent video hence I posted here, while holding any kind of grip (forehand grip specifically for smash) should all my fingers rest on the grip or during follow through they can rotate?I am asking this because as a professional badminton player a lot of smashes go with brute power but many times they go with comparatively less power any specific reason?also please tell me the difference in technique between Mavis 350 and as -2 shuttle❤
I can answer the first part of the question, but the second part I don't quite understand what you're asking about! But for the first part! If you feel inconsistency in your smash power then there is probably a timing issue that can be causes by being too tense too early in the wrong spots. It isn't a smash video but go watch our newest video on the clear and really note down how we emphasise to have one part "firing" at a time. If we for example squeeze our fingers too early in a smash we loose speed, power and precision and often find ourself feeling like we hit that shuttle really really hard! but there was no speed put into it in reality. This is all about timing and getting the right sequence. Go look at that clear video and then there will be a new one the smash in not too long! And if you really want to learn a lot consider joining us in the start of July for our World Camp, where we'd have the opportunity to train personally
If we compare the forehand grip you show (with the "V" between thumb and index finger laying on the bevel) and the forehand grip in the badminton basics series of the Shuttle Life channel, we can see they look pretty different (the V in their case is on another part of the racket). Why is that? Is it basically the same and has no importance or do you think one way is better than the other?
Yes i can see the difference but in general you can do both, but also depends on the ankle of your wrist. I use a more twisted(rotated) ankle on the wrist than they do. My wrist is very flexible and i like to do this so it is easier for me to add power to my shots where you rotate in the forearm and a bit in the wrist to get a clean hit.... Think it is individuel what you like the best 😉
@@BadmintonFamly Thanks a lot! It's just that sometimes a different wrist position seems to affect my shots a lot and I change it all the time, making me very inconsistent. I'll try to just choose one and stick to it!
Shots played with a flat trajectory with minimum racquet swing usually with the racquet held vertically..Like which is played a lot in doubles... Getting the power in those shots without the back swing.
Good explained video and a very great camera view for the shots! Can you also explain what type of strings you use and how many kilograms? Atm i use BG 80 Power with 12 Kg but i don´t know if this is the best way or if another combination of string and kg will lead me to another level...would apreciate help. Thanks to your awesome videos, i´m always waiting for the next and i´m sure to sign in the e-learning program this month.
I'm a very beginner badminton player : instead using forehandgrip i always using hammergrip for hitting forehandball because hammergrip is more comfortable for me to hit the shuttle..i know this is wrong..my question is : how to make forehand grip more comfortable for my arm? My name is sani and i come from indonesia
Yeah you said the power is generated from the push away of the racket foot from the ground, rotate the hip, lead with elbow, pronate forearm, hit at the highest point. Does this work for every forehand shots or just the smash?
Sorry for this amateur question, but what is the correct grip when starting rotating for a smash and also at the very last moment of hitting a smash shot? Should it be the forehand grip all the way or does it start in a forehand grip and end in a hammer( panhandle) grip as the result of rotation? Especially I am curious what is the correct grip at the very last moment when hitting the shuttle for a smash.
Hi coach I sometimes struggle when I hit a forehand clear, I intend to hit down the line or near it but sometimes it goes to the mid court Why does that happen?😭😭
Hi, My forehand technique is terrible, (can't do overhead clear), I am following various tutorial but nothing seems to be working for me. What advice would you give me to improve my technique? Lastly, what is the music being played at the background?
Maybe you need to look at your forearm rotation and the swing movement. We have a great program for that on badminton Famly+💯 Can’t remember the music🤔
@@BadmintonFamly sorry sir for troubling you again and again but I m still confused because I have the problem of changing grip so can u explain me in detail what should I do.?
Thumb finger should not same level with index finger when hard hit or smash. I see when you hit your thumb finger is tighten up and near your third finger also.
@@BadmintonFamly if thumb finger is same height level with index finger when hard hitting unable use wrist power due to thumb already bond wrist movement.and unable to produce power hitting compare to thumb move down touch third finger. Correct me if I am wrong.

Simple and easy to understand. tq coach

Good tutorial. Please make a video on flat (parallel) play.
Thanks. What is parallel play?
Shots played with a flat trajectory with minimum racquet swing usually with the racquet held vertically..Like which is played a lot in doubles... Getting the power in those shots without the back swing.
Drive shots 😄
Should the index finger be above the thumb?
It depends on what shot you do. Forehand push for example has the index higher up, but the backhand drive the other way around.
whether the racket goes into the fingers or must be in the palm of the hand thanks
Pls advise wrist turing/rotating exercise
How many tension can you use.. For playing in racket
Please tell me

When did you squeeze the grip in overhead shots? At the beginning of the swing or near rhe impact?

You have to practice it by holding the forehand grip and rotate it to 180 degree, with full flow, and use it ,and practice it daily.❤️🇮🇳
In forehand grip thumb is lower than the index finger . Sir please don't mind😀, you are the former world champion.
Haha 😆
Hey i am not able to generate that much power in cut shots like you why?
???

Good one❤️👍👍
Thanks a lot👏🏻
Hey u could use bevel grip too for high serves and forehand lift right?
Njjyyooo not really, i would r recommend the forehand grip for sure 💪🏻

Thanks, Can’t remember the name of the song, try to schazam it🤣
Even though I'm decently built my shots lack power, people skinnier than me hit with more power. What am I doing wrong ?
Tricky to say, so many things that needs to work together to work properly🙃

Hi coach
I sometimes struggle when I hit a forehand clear, I intend to hit down the line or near it but sometimes it goes to the mid court
Why does that happen?😭😭
Hmm tricky to say but can be that you rotate to much in your forearm if you are right handed and play the clear from around the head side😀
Why do some people put the thumb resting on the index finger?

Thanks for nice video. Good Luck...
Thanks✌🏻
Pls describe the grip adjustments while hitting a smash
Watch our smash videos to see more of that👌🏻
So generally the back of hand is pointing a bit upwards to 1 o clock position rather than sideway ( 3 o clock ) for Right handed players .
Won't the thumb being at same height as index finger reduce rffect of finger power?
Yes a bit but for control shots it is good, then you can tighten the grip more when adding power💪🏻
For power shots the thumb moves down the grip so it's roughly between the index finger and the middle finger.
Amazing, Thank You.
Thanks sir❤
Which string and tension should I use for better shot
I use the BG80 string and with 14 kilo 😎 But not for all as it is tricky to control. Maybe around 12 kilo will suit you...
@@BadmintonFamly is it usefully for plastic shuttle ?
Sir but in forehand grip your thumb should be over your other three fingers?
Its more individual what people like to do, i do as shown in the video👌🏻
@@BadmintonFamly but still which one should we prefer and while performing smash which one should I prefers your's or mine?
In the smash it is okay to take the thumb a bit down for more power👌🏻

How many types in fourhand grip

On impact which fingers do you tighten and how does this affect your grip (in forehand overhead shots e.g. smash and clear)?
You sont tighten the grip you just smoothly “touch” the shuttle so you take away the speed to create the deception👌🏻
