I hate when nurses act like that. I'm a nurse and I don't care if it's a call light or a trash bag I will hop my ass up and help out. We all in this together.

Takara Murphy yea when a CNA goes to nursing school it’s ones who finish and become much more and ones who can’t handle and it’s usually for that group of cna it’s not what they were meant to do in life. So yea from start as CNA it wasn’t who they really were.

This is Mena I’m surprised a “nurse” was able to read my response and completely miss the point. We do more than just pass meds, and YOU should know that, and why I said what I did if you’re an actual nurse. The nurse should not interrupt wound care, Medicare charting, acute/ q 2-4 assessments, med pass to continuously answer call lights while a CNA eats cookies and argues constantly. That’s the bottom line. Ensuring call lights are answered is a part of our job, not our primary or most critical responsibility. She stated, “lazy nurses want you to do your work and there’s (SIC)”. So, OBVIOUSLY (🙄) she’s trying to imply answering call lights is our job. When the fact is it’s our job to make sure SHE answers call lights. Scope of practice/ delegation/ time management is taught in nursing school madam “nurse”.

Now it would be ignorant to say all you do is wipe ass and feed how hard is that, but that would be ignorant right??? I would never cause I been a cna before a damn good one too and I know it’s more to it than that. But this whole all you do is pass meds need to stop cause I wish that was all I had to worry about.

I tried to take care of my patients's needs as I made my rounds, did my assessments and passed out medications. I would communicate with my CNA which patients I had put on a bedpan, which ones I had helped to the bathroom so that if I couldn't get back to them, then my CNA would know what they needed when they called. I assisted with bathing and changing dirty diapers so that I could complete my skin assessment at the same time. Team work is essential for getting everything done that needs to be done. I also check my patients's vitals so that I wouldn't have to track down my CNA to get them from her. I got in trouble because administration said that other nurses were complaining that they never saw me. My CNAs stuck up for me and testified that I would be in my patients's rooms making sure their needs were met. I'm sorry but I wasn't going to hang out at the nurse's station. I had too much work to do for that. I would be at the nurse's station after I made rounds to chart in between med passes.

On the rare occasions when I am on top of my charting, assessments, and med passes (rare 'cause I am a new grad--it's a struggle lol), I help my CNAs out. We have to work as a team. Fortunately I work with good nurses and CNAs on my med surg floor, if we see each other struggling, we go out of our way to help each other. The one time I got sent to the Ortho floor, I got called out twice by two experienced nurses for helping the CNA get water and blankets for one of the patients, bc they said it wasn't my job to do that.
