"Oktoberfest" is a tradition from Bavaria (official state of Germany). And Bavarians generally don't consider themselves Germans. 🤣
Oktoberfest ist a big festival/ fun fair evry year in September/ october. It goes back to a horse race in 1810 on the occasion of the wedding of prince Ludwig of bavaria , later king, with a saxonian princess. So since then it is celebratet evry years , now with the beer tents of the biggest traditional breweries of munich , plus fun fair . And it's known internationally - many japanese , chinese , americans , .. from evrywhere 3 million attend the festival .
No, the culture of oktoberfest has never spread to anywhere north of Bavaria. Only the event. There is now an Oktoberfest in my city. And while for example lederhosen have a cultural background in munich, here they are just funny costumes
