Mittermeier was one of the superstars in Germany. He was really at the top of his career, little bored, which was a reason to start over in English. Very funny to see that he continued his style in English as well.

Latin is very normal to learn in German schools. Most common foreign language are English and French, Latin and Spanish

I had latin at school! Very helpful language, though! It helps to understand some things much better!
Ex. of latin words: audio (< "i am listening"), video "(< "i am watching"), aqua (< "water"), terra (< "earth"), etc. (< et cetera = "and so on") ...

Latin is learned in colleges as it is needed for certain studies. It was the language of science. At the moment it is partly replaced by English, tomorrow maybe Chinese.

Fun fact: in austria, we do not have "comedians", we have "Kabarettisten".
    And yes, very differnt 😊

    • @soewenue

Do you not differ or do you really have no stand-ups? Cause we in germany also have kabarett, but also normal comedians

    • @soewenue

8:28 Nope, if you want to study certain fields like : Religion, Medicin or Law. You needed a so called "Latinum".
This meant your parents forced you to pick the dead and boring language in school which promptly reduced you standing in the school food chain, to quote: Keep all options available for you.
Some years after I graduated this was changed and now you can study the Latin at university specifically for Law, Religion or Medicin alongside your normal courses.
Regarding Literature: Bellum Gallicum is for a book about a war suprisingly boring and dry.

8:20 Latin classes in Germany are about as bad as German classes in the US. You don't really learn the language, which is a damn shame (and incredibly inefficient).
The reason many people (myself included) took it in school is that we were told it'd help us with studying things like medicine later. It really didn't.
But for that reason, I think Latin was the most popular foreign language besides English (which was mandatory) when I was in school. Pretty sure French is more popular now, though.

As an Austrian.i am offended. It's our bad Luck that he was not a german. Is that the Reason why Americans know about Germany but they have no Clue about Austria? Love the Brits and the Scots ect. Their Humour is as dry as ours..but better...but we have better food. I would like to know if there is a Beer drinking Contest..who will win..Germany Austria or the Brits or Scotland ? Who knows..maybe it's Finland.

3rd even If you don't feel that Way i do. I don't care if i seem like a Karen. (Even if it's unnecessary to try to insult me with this)
