      @@lilgrump9730 typically they are manufactured in a factory and made by machines. So yes, I didn’t know that the everyday person could make their OWN rugs at home....

      @@hardlyordinary if it can be maufactured in a factory whats stopping someone from making one at home. It isnt some sort of top secret formula.
      Do you think rugs were always mass produced in factories?

    • @hardlyordinary
      @hardlyordinary 4 ปีที่แล้ว +68

      @@lilgrump9730 look dude, I was just trying to give the girl a nice complement. I like her work, I think she did a great job, and she made an interesting video about it. Obviously things weren’t always mass produced. It’s just nice to see ppl take the time and effort to make something themselves instead of just purchasing it in a store. I didn’t know anything about tufting before watching her video and that’s all I was I saying. It doesn’t need to be some philosophical debate where you try to make yourself look like you’re smarter than everyone else by belittling ppl over a simple compliment meant for the artist...

    This is such a great video for a beginner like me! So far I've been using a punch needle to make small wall hangings and was wondering if getting a tufting gun would save me time? How long do the rugs take to make with your tufting gun? And how long would these sized rugs take to make with a punching needle? Sorry if this is a weird specific question haha. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent with us!

    • @AJMAKES137
      @AJMAKES137  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A tufting gun will absolutely save you time if you are punch needling. I recently did a piece using both a punch needle and my gun (which is cut-pile, so it has a different look than punch needle). There are some things that the punch needle is better for, but you're going to get speed with the gun.

    Hi great job thanks for the video this is a really cool way to make art! Does it stay okay with people walking on it? Does it last long or would you want to keep it on a wall so as to not ruin it? I love the font you used for the writing! Do you have to draw backwards on one side to make it show up correctly on the other or is the front of the rug the side facing you like in painting? Thanks! 😊

    • @AJMAKES137
      @AJMAKES137  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you use the correct adhesive, they are safe to walk on! The only thing to worry about is them getting dirty. They can only be spot treated and cleaned like normal carpets are. No machine washing. And yes, you do have to draw the image backwards. I use a projector now, which makes it much easier!

    Do you put the rubber felt after you’re done punching the rug or do you glue it to the canvas and then sew over it ?

    what’s the difference between the cut and loop gun? i really wanna start doing this is a hobby :)

    • @eegw1199
      @eegw1199 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cut pile cuts the yarn after every thread giving you a rug with cut ends where as a loop pile doesn't cut the yarn giving you loops on the face of your rug

    💙💜💛💚❤ Hi, this video is complete and perfect! Your rugs are amazing! Can I use any king of wool?
    About, the needle: does it have to be replaced, once in a while? Thank you! ❤💚💛💜💙

      Hi there! Thank you :) I haven't experimented a ton with different types of wool. I use 3-ply wool that is made for rugs. It is strong enough to withstand walking on it. Free to experiment though! It's fun to see the different textures you can get with different yarns. And regarding the needle, there isn't actually a proper needle. It's more like a nose. And it does not need to be replaced from what I understand.

    Hi! I've been watching your videos for some time now and you have been so helpful in starting my tufting journey however, I was wondering if there was a spray or grease that you recommend using on our machine before we get started? Thank you!

      I hired a local carpenter to do it. I'm certainly not woodworking-savy and I don't have many power tools-except my tufting gun of course :D Tim has a video of him building a large frame that I sent to my carpenter for reference th-cam.com/video/BqLW8IeSBKw/w-d-xo.html
