15:41 There's a corporal that gets dropped off and is frozen by shell shock. Doesn't move, isn't noticed - mutas fly directly over him, even - until more than TWO MINUTES LATER, when a curious zergling peels off from its pack to sniff him out. (You can see all this in the mini map.) The poor zergling gets roasted, but not before calling the attention of its mates, who swing around and finally pick off the firebat at the 18:08 mark - who by this time has set a record, I'm sure, for longest-surviving lone human in a zerg base.
i love how excited you are for the new build! it is awesome how much you know the ins and outs of different terran builds, so neat to hear about the timings. amazing you noticed the supply block and the valk being slightly late, so good

Don't worry man, that is still better than a lot of people. If you were playing on SC2 theirs lots of people who have made it to masters by cheesing with low APM, so you're not only better. But hopefully honourable than those clowns
Idk playing Starcraft 1 online is an exercise in pure frustration, theres literally only sweaty players left playing it. Especially if you want to play Terran. You're dead to dragoons or mutas for sure. It was fun playing it online during dial up days before Starcraft became a sweat factory. If you mean playing the campaign then yeah I agree its fun.
Actually I think 1,500 siege tanks could probably stand next to the lurker then splash off their own self target. Maybe 20 siege tanks couldn't break that.
Spoilers I can't be mad when I watch a one sided of Bo9 against the pros. Arty is right when he says this game takes ages to get control over, but that doesn't mean that there can be great shifts in power level among veterans (well they still call them amateurs in Korea...) We've only been exposed to Saber for a couple of years now but I'd expect he's been putting effort into Starcraft for over a decade now. In a single game against Scan he demonstrated that he can outplay Scan with a no bullshit build order matchup, and beat Mihu in a way where it looked like Mihu would have to approach the opens completely different if he wanted to lay a significant scratch on Saber. RT I hope Scan is still levelling up but after these sets from Saber, I EXPECT to see him play at or above this range more and more! His gameplay in these sets here - looks totally immaculate. A mad zerg
Funny enough this is the only season I have witnessed Zerg getting the respect it deserves as the top race. Thanks to Saber making Artosis say it at last 23:09.
@@junioraltamontent.7582 I agree but to an extent. Science Vessel's Irradiate is good but they cannot consume constantly to spam their spells. Therefore you need several SVs to reach OP levels of Irradiate. Defilers on the other hand, you don't need to make that many and they're cheaper and faster to make. Sure they can't fly but Zerg have scourge to put constant pressure on the SVs. I do think that pro Terrans should at least attempt to counter Defilers with Firebats more often, but it still always seems like an uphill battle once Defilers have all their spells.
Mihu should've gone for one of the island bases instead of the bottom left corner, that would have been a muuuuuuch safer base to take, and relatively easier to defend because Saber only had a handful of mutas to harass that base.
What a surprise, zerg went for Muta Lurker Defiler. I couldn't see that coming. I wish Blizzard would do small expansion or patch to tweak dark swarm and Irradiate.
Woah shower thought., Zerg Larva shouldn't have been made to morph into eggs, it should have burrowed into the creep and came out of the spawning facility. If you really wanted to push it tech could have been separated to creep patches, connected by nydus.
Idk. The truly proficient Terrans seem to have more going on than mere timing attacks. Strictly doing timing attacks is a little too predictable I think.
sometimes, I wonder how much Mihu wins on his connection. cant see tr and latency in replay, but I dont understand why my memories of his games gives off feeling of KR players in lag, unlike .so many games he has tr and lat almost as bad as eu players...
okay, I don't understand, how in so many of these games, the zerg players are always low on workers in the beginning, while also having about 1 extra base against opponents.
The SC:BW economy is pretty unintuitive. For example, zergs need to build more bases than their opponents because their hatcheries double as their production buildings. And to maximize one's mineral income with a given amount of drones, it's best to have at most 1 drone per mineral patch. So e.g. a Zerg with 3 bases and 24 drones on minerals would earn slightly more than a player with just 2 bases and 24 workers on minerals. This slightly compensates for Zergs having fewer workers due to always having to decide for each larva whether to turn it into an army unit or a worker.
You basically gain the same amount of minerals if you have 1 base and drones 3 times the mineral count in comparison to 2 bases and 1 drone per mineral in each base. Drones are not free and take time to hatch, so it is actually faster to raise up 2 bases than fill 1 to the maximum capacity. Hatcheries serve as production buildings of Zerg and they are the most expensive building in any race. You really have to dial in your hatcheries if you want to stay competitive. They have a huge upfront set back on the Zerg production, that is the one building you cannot mistake.
Zerg is just much easier to manage race Has more counter abilites under sleeve and od more forgiving, Dude makes mistakes loses half of his mutalisk and this doesnt effect him at all imagine Terran now event smallest mistakes like building a bunker or missile turret in time makes you dead... Not to mention Dark swarm and plague xD pain to watch Terran players having to deal with all that.
@@samc9133 I don't get it. You don't miss a victory if you stop making scvs with Terran. With Zerg your entire build queue shifts. Terran is really easy if you compare with Zerg, so the higher payout higher risk race is Z at least in my opinion, sorry about that.
DS is just disgusting. When I was heard about immortal lurkers I was thought it gives like 50% range damage reduction. But 100%? So broken that should be named DDS
I think it's fun. As far as OP mechanics go in Brood War it's the one of most interesting. Protoss can kite a Reaver around and score 60 kills just from a high damage unit whereas that kind of value from Dark Swarm comes from changing the landscape of the battlefield and requiring both players to play around it. Look up Flash vs Jaedong on Fighting Spirit and he does insane pushes where his attack group wipes but he eats 1 of his 2 surviving Ultralisks to eek out one more Swarm so he can push 1 wounded Ultra just a little bit further up the map. To me that's so much cooler than just clicking an AOE on a big group of units at the right time.
Yeah zerg is always OP with free dark swarm, the fact that one unit can mess up the entire game is just unfun to watch, no wonder why SC1 never got popular out side Korea because it's imbalance as f*k
Defilers are so late, terrans are at a disadvantage for holding back the whole game. You cannot sit around as terran against zerg, just as protoss cannot sit around terran. It is a fact.
Does anyone have suggestions for more good bw casting channels? I love Arty of course, and I'm subbed to Tasteless as well, but I wondered what other good English casters were out there. I wanna support more people in the scene :)
SaiyanKCM casts the KCM series, which is a neat & recurring team tournament where 3-player teams consisting of top pros of the same SC race fight in 1v1s against teams of the other two races.
@RT: I don't see Saber making it into ASL. Why not? Because of the previous 8-1 loss he took to Mihu. A top tier Korean would Never lose a 9 game series to a foreigner. After all, in the Sanpao StarLeague Spring Cup Season 3; China vs Top Koreans (games can be watched at Liquipedia), Mihu lost to Mini 0-7, as did the rest of the top Chinese, losing 54-2 overall, vs Royal, Best, SoulKey, Snow, Hero, Light, Mini, and soma.
Dark swarm, plague, consume is so ridiculous. Opponents have little to no chance. Also, ds lasts so long, it’s crazy. You’ll have the setup for a nice battle, and then ds comes out and the battle is over. It’s not fun to watch or play against. The defiler needs to be nerfed

Infested terrans AND overlords with ventral sacs + pneumatized carapace upgrade would be the ultimate drop on a Terran base.

What should Mihu have done differently in that first game do you think?
There's no way you'll convince me that Defilers aren't completely busted.
The OP spells are what make Brood War unique. Keeps it from just being a production race with the occasional siege unit micro.
