    Corrections: It turns out the D1 Lite DOES actually have Bi-directional control. I somehow missed this in my testing - but it makes it an even better value proposition now!

    • @DJTechReviews
      @DJTechReviews ปีที่แล้ว

      Would love to see you do some more retrofitting. I’ve seen a few conversations in the forums about retrofitting the heated and cooled seats. I noticed yours don’t have the cooled - could be an idea? If that’s even possible. Apparently one chap got pretty far with it but got stumped on the wiring looms. If not that, maybe retrofitting the DVD screen headrests, however, that might not be your cup of tea and probably not worth it.
      It’s that curiosity of if it is possible or not. Much like the swathes of people trying to upgrade new Apple products SSDs and RAM.

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DJTechReviews Cheers for the comment, and great suggestions. The cooled seats would be a good test - but I'm not sure I actually want them. The heating in the non-cooled version that I have is actually superior, and being in mild Ireland, I use the heating a lot more than I would cooling. If I can find the parts to do DVD headrests etc I'd definitely be keen!

      Golly, Sam, now I'm confused. The Otofix website comparison between the D1 & D1LITE would suggest that only the D1 has bi-directional control.

      Does the Topdon have the ability to configure the air suspension heights on the L322 @SamsMotors? You can pick them up for about £650 which seems reasonable for me given I have several cars and also work on those of some friends too. However, the L322 is the likely candidate for most use and so there's no point in going for the D1 if there are some key bits missing over the IID.

I saw an add for Carly, followed it and it was just £45. 81, tried it thinking it wouldn't be much cop but it found 29 issues and cleared them all, I now know I had an issue with an ERG air pressure sensor, however it doesn't seem to be repeating, much like the water in the fuel issue it showed, quite impressed considering the cost!

      For the earlier generation of Land Rovers (Discovery 2, P38 RR, Freelander 1), Nanocom is the best tool by a big margin. On later generations (L322, D3/D4 etc) it's quickly outclassed by other tools unfortunately.

    One item/function I would like to have seen on your list is new key fob programming.

    Thanks for such a well put together guide - I have a 3.6 L322, but have a number of other vehicles too, including a pre-OBD2 Bentley, so I'm very interested in the TopDon as it appears to have the correct adapter for the Bentley (to be confirmed, the Bentley might be a proprietary design). I don't think i can justify the IID due to it being locked to the L322 and if I ever needed any configuration I could just pay someone else to do that, I guess.

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re welcome! Jealous of the Bentley! One thing to remember is that on older vehicles there will usually be less service functions etc available on the diag tool, so you may not get the full benefit of the Topdon’s capabilities on it - but like you say, there aren’t many options that will work at all with older vehicles.
