Please help and Thanks

      I don't think there is anything wrong with your BCM or Tyre Monitoring System (Infact a failure of that system wouldn't cause the car not to start). A quick Google suggests a grounding fault (therefore, check the battery (good charge), and the terminal connections on the battery and ground points).

      Hey Thomas! You can't change it with the IID tool. But there is a lever on the back of the headlamps. That will switch the beam to LHD vs RHD. Glad you enjoyed the video!

    So, I want to buy an LR4, would it be a good idea as a probable owner to buy the tool and scan the vehicle for my inspection, or should I leave it to a shop?

    • @GreenOval_Adventurers

      I recommend buying the tool for both pre & after-purchase. If anything goes wrong you can very quickly find out exactly what has happened and the steps you need to take to repair it. Wouldn't be without mine!

    • @OffMyCloud
      @OffMyCloud 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't know if you've already purchased a D4 yet, but if you haven't then personally I'd not buy the GAP IID tool at the point you are at, if it's only going to be used for checking fault codes. There are less expensive tools available for checking faults. If, however, you aim to be working yourself on the D4 you buy, then the GAP IID looks to me the best option for that. Key thing is, it's not just a fault reader.

      It is indeed an amazing tool. I wouldn't own a Land Rover without one. Look into the different modifications you can make with your IID tool and get to work. PS - happy motoring in the new car. How have you found it so far?

    • @Mac_F87
      @Mac_F87 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GreenOval_Adventurers good to hear, I’ve been having a play around today and it’s already paying off.
      Really loving the Range Rover so far. I came from a long line of hot hatches, Audi S’s, Golf R’s, RS3’s and BMW M2 most recently so even a sport seems so comfortable in comparison! I’ve had a few little issues so far. The car wouldn’t go into access mode at first. Found some information online about the compressor exhaust silencer. So cleaned it out and now the suspension works as it should. So luckily an easy fix. Also been getting a parking brake fault. Only seems to be when I’ve driven through a lot of standing water. Used the IID tool to see what the issue was. I was getting a fault code for the left side short to ground which makes sense as it looks like water ingress is the issue. Took the actuator off today and it has two cracks in it. So have made a temporary fix until I can get a new actuator.
      The other issue currently is the driver seat heating and cooling doesn’t work. So tried swapping the fan unit for the passenger side back over to the driver side back. When it’s in the driver side seat it is totally dead also and the one from the driver side works while it’s in the passenger side. I get a fault code for U3001-46 (2F) Control module improper shutdown - System internal failure - calibration/parameter memory failure in the driver seat module and B1418-87 (2F) Front right - Seat climate control module - Bus signal/message failure - missing a message” in the HVAC. So it seems to me as if the heated seat module might be at fault.

    • @GreenOval_Adventurers
      @GreenOval_Adventurers  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Now you got the RR, you'll think why didn't I do this sooner. Fair play on resolving your issues! I think you are right about the module.

    • @Mac_F87
      @Mac_F87 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GreenOval_Adventurers definitely wonder why I didn’t get one sooner!
      The heated and cooled seat turned out tot he another simple fix. I’m going to run out of luck soon. I unbolted the seat and had a look underneath. For some reason the heated seat module was unplugged. Not sure if someone has done it or it’s not been plugged back in correctly and rattled out again. Either way over got my drivers climate functions again.

    My Disco 4 has been in a local garage for a suspension fault that rectifies itself with a restart. Their fancy Snap On obd readers couldn't find no history in the cars faults. Gap tool arrived today and found the 2 fault codes needed straight away for me to have a clue to know where to look. I'll be checking live values on ride level sensors with manual movement tomorrow morning for an example. I'm a Plumber so no Mechanic by a county mile but them codes are invaluble.

    Hi peter and everyone , I've just come across your channel and really hope you can help me. Peter , I woz doin a update and it said low voltage on the center screen , now when I press the start button for the ignition to come on it lights up with loads of faults , when I press the start button with my foot on the brake pedal the car just turns off as if you'd been driving parked up and press the start button to turn the engine off, if that makes sense , peter and follows is it a case of changing the battery to full and Finnishing the update for the car to start .. can't believe I've done this with no one around to help , any help would be very very much appreciated.

      Hi Lyndon. Sounds like the update failed due to low battery. OK, what I believe you need to do is reflash whatever system you where updating. This is likely why it won't start. Can you start the update again (this time with a strong battery).

    Thanks for the great film Peter. I've been thinking about one of these for some months now and aim to buy early in the new year. I'm trying to do more and more on my 2005 D3 to keep costs down and I think this tool will be very helpful. It's not a main consideration for me in making the purchase if it doesn't, but do you know if the tool is able to tell how the glow plugs are functioning?

    • @GreenOval_Adventurers
      @GreenOval_Adventurers  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'd 100% recommend one, and this tool will certainly help keep the maintenance costs down, even if you are using a mechanic. I'd be very surprised if it didn't log a fault if the glow plugs where not working. In fact I'm almost certain it does because there is a glow plug warning light on the dash and to 'light up' it needs a fault!

    • @OffMyCloud
      @OffMyCloud 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GreenOval_Adventurers Thanks. I know my glow plugs are not working, because I have starting issues in the winter (I've done a video on my channel about that), but it would be interesting to see if they have all gone, or if some still work. It might be different on the D3, because although there is the light that you have to wait to go out before starting, that in itself doesn't seem to suggest that there is a glow plug fault, as it goes out as it should. Aiming to buy the GAP IID next week, so will let you know how I get on with it.

      @@GreenOval_Adventurers Tool arrived a few days ago now. I've had a little play around with it and can see the uses.
