Lizard Greatsword is great too because it deals two damage types that can deal with each other’s weaknesses. Most enemies that resist strike are weak to pierce, and vice versa.
That weapon is bugged tho if I remember right,The sword doesn't do strike damage on any of its normal attacks.It will however do strike damage on certain ashes of war like spinning slash or double slash.
You know, a lot of people who engage on PvP in this game have really toxic attitudes - they're angry at everything, they talk trash about their opponents, they teabag or downpoint after every win and complain that every death was unfair. It's really refreshing to see someone who isn't like that at all. The Elden Ring multiplayer scene would be a better place with more people like you in it.

A few things on the Greatsword of Damnation not brought up; On top of the goofy visuals, sometimes the damage is inconsistent. Sometimes the stab will do damage on top of the grab damage, sometimes it will not. Oh, the Ash of War also has insane hyperarmor, you can trade with other high hyperarmor or poise breaking attacks and you will always win because the grab will work regardless of if they are in an attack chain Ash of War or not. Oh since it's a grab, it is also good for turtles as the grab will go through shields. The sword is best on a strength build, just meet the faith requirements, don't use it on a str/faith or faith build, the ash of war damage scales off of strength way better. Do you wish to maximize your grab damage? Easy! Throw on the Shard of Alexander, Dagger Talisman, Two handed sword talisman, and two hand the sucker.
On the greatsword of solitude at 2:32 , no, the ash of war slash does not true combo into the follow-up heavy attack, however it will true combo into an r1 which is still pretty disgusting, it'll give you 900-1000 damage on average on a 66 strength build (more if you use the shard of alexander and two handed sword talisman).
The time when the great sword of damnation has the best application is when your opponent is doing something with a long animation, because poise isn’t a thing and you can just go through it

I accidently did a glitch with the sword of damnation. I used the destined death AOW while the opponent used the skewer aow on me. The destined death debuff was applied on him and even though i was caught in the grab, i somehow didn't take any damage. I had to take a moment to figure out what just happened

Only focus on attacking the fat one first. The skinny one will most likely never attack you while doing so. Use heavy bleed weapons. They're resistant to fire mostly. You can instead use a sleep weapon instead of pots themselves
Can I interest you in a backstep attack as well sir? (tap your roll button without a direction and you'll backstep, quickly follow it up with a light or heavy attack)
Imagine making the madness boss having a holly weapon. Like, the madness boss… gives a holly weapon… they could have made a cool and good new madness weapon where the ash of war would be a dash that gave like a hundred madness buildup with some fire leftovers on the ground like Midra does… or just keep it the same and add enate madness on it
The Greatsword of Damnation is not Midra’s weapon by choice - he was impaled by it by the Hornsent Inquisition in an attempt to stop the Frenzied Flame’s influence. Granted, there’s still an argument for it to at least deal madness buildup and retain its holy damage.

It's not originally Midra's, and him using it is intentionally supposed to be ironic, and also a big power move. I suspect that hypothetical weapon would also deal holy-type damage.

Tbf unless midra actually coated it in madness flames the sword in the fight didn’t innately do madness buildup just in some of his combos he slapped frenzy flame onto the sword, could’ve done something sorta like the heaphen(?) steeple where is gets ghost flame from is aow but tbh that would just make the GoD even more brain dead in pvp, would’ve like frenzy flame grease over the festival grease though
Poise seems to matter less and less with each patch. If you have a greatsword you can basically hyper armor trade with any non-hyper armor weapon and having poise only really helps you against rapiers and the backswing of other small weapons.
Because it's a hornsent faith sword that was used to contain midra's frenzy. The sword isn't a product of frenzy it wasn't made by the three fingers or anything.

I'm with you dude just cos having madness it'd be more fun. Plus miyazaki coulda mumbo jumboed something about it being infested with madness inside him I reckon. And a change in the aow to something that would reflect that. Would it be weaker? Yes. But more fun? Probably.

Damnation GS is one of the funniest weapons to use in PvP, I love one shotting people with that ash, but also having that amazing moveset for duels.

It’s like phantom status effect build up, but it’s with the critical hit and it insta procs through i frames, like sleep or madness
It got fixed, so it's not as oppressive anymore

with the changes they did..most weapon will stagger you unless you have around 100 poise if I remember correctly..

it doesn’t build madness in the boss fight and it’s AOW is a free critical… who would need madness on top of that.
