It's a pretty polarizing edition from what I see -- either they like the grounded aesthetic and the motion control games, or they are not fond of the look change from cartoony, and overrealiance on those controls.

I found your channel about 3 months ago and have pretty much binge watched all your videos.
The scripts are tight, the balance between game clips and Jirads screen time is just right also he’s the perfect host for the channel.

I feel like Super Mario RPG deserves a remake. They could make new sprites like Super Star Saga did.

LuchaDandy I'm sure they do for specific business. I imagine its like being civil with your ex spouse after court which sum ppl can be. while you might get extra time with kids or extra days or whatnot ur not gunna go to your ex and start asking about his/her new life. they'll cut you off mid sentence and keep you only relatable to yours' past. I imagine itd be the same between square and nintendont. certain things are agreed upon and certain things will be laughed at or met with resistance or hostility as you cross that line
how about just a new one? like a 3d rpg not like oddyssey but sorta bigger scale with a little less accessibility and exploration
MysteriousM if they were to remake it I’d like to see hand drawn overworlds and sprites instead of 3D. I think it would suite the game much better than full 3d
The original was made with pre render 3D graphics, so I think it would be better to make it with real 3D graphics this time.
Finally, a POSITIVE review of Mario Party 8!!! People always lump it in with 9 and 10 and that's so messed up, Mario Party 8 was a big part of my childhood and I KNEW it wasn't a bad game!!!

Timothy Rodowicz Believe me, I am aware at how nostalgia can effect your critical perception of a game. What I meant by that is that I CHOSE to play that game over and over by myself and with my friends because it was really good!!! There were so many unique board options and 80% of the minigames were legitimately fun! It was a crazy fun Mario Party game and I know it wasn't just nostalgia telling me that.

Man, I just LOVE me some Mario Golf! I will say I prefer MK8 to Double Dash, though - DD was never my cup of tea. I'm surprised Mario Tennis didn't really show up here, though, that and Golf were my guilty pleasures as a kid! (My buddy TokenGeek just had me on as a guest for his review of Aces _today_ actually, good timing!)
Also, please keep popcorn around forever.
Mario Kart: Double Dash was my first ever Mario Kart game which i got for xmas in 2003. Seeing that footage brought back memories!

Jackr Mcmannerson It's a reference to ctrl-alt-delete, a gaming webcomic that also featured a "slice of life" segment on occasion featuring a ridiculous author-insertion man-child whose girlfriend becomes pregnant throughout the storyline.

Yep. A somewhat humourous, goofy webcomic worked in a miscarriage plotline.
The episode of the webcomic was titled "Loss", and featured no dialogue. The lines represent the positioning of the main characters in each frame.

Super glad to see Strikers Charged on this list! It's an underrated game with a criminally underrated soundtrack. Shout out to Toad's theme in particular, he does not deserve a track that funky.
One of mine is the original N64 Mario Tennis games. It was probably the most pure version you could find with very little extra power-ups, but this thing had the best soundtrack of ANY Mario sports game. Especially the credits song.

Awesome top ten! I learned about some games I've never heard of, I got to see some game footage and hear opinions on games I know less about, and I also saw my favourite spin-off(s) at number 1!
Super Mario RPG blows my mind to this day. It's probably the best RPG on the SNES when it comes to game play, and it's probably the best-looking game on the console. It's super nostalgic for me, and it still holds up to this day.
I'm happy you gave Super Star Saga a shout out. It's definitely my favorite.
I really wish that the characters from that game could make appearances in other spin offs.

Team Dusk c’mon, if he had included Mario Tennis, he wouldn’t have been able to include the best spinoff, Mario Teaches Typing. I’m a little surprised this list didn’t include the old Mario themed board game.
I would love to see a Mario Monster Hunter spin off, where Mario and the gang hunt down Bowser and the Koopalings. A Mario Resident Evil spin off could be interesting, where the Mushroom Kingdom turn to zombies and Mario has to survive, imagine Mario using a Nintendo Zapper on zombie Luigi, that would be crazy.

Mario Party 1 was my favorite. Actually tons of fun stuff to do in solo mode with a story and collect 100 stars.
Wii Strikers was a blast improved upon the 1st one in an epic way and even had great use of motion controls allowing you to be your own super shot blocking goalie
This is a a pretty solid list. It was a good idea to lump all the Mario RPGs together. They would have taken up most of the list for me.

Your DDR skills are on point, I'd love to see a dance off between you and my friend. He's a little on the heavier side, but he can move while he's playing DDR, dunno how he does it. Lol
I might be one of about 5 other people on the planet who ever really enjoyed Mario is Missing on the SNES.. XD I wasn't great at fast-paced action games, so I loved the chill vibe, music, and style of that one! And, being a fan of Carmen Sandiego at the time, learning more about geography was a big perk! Heck, I'd probably play through it again and have a super relaxing enjoyable time today!

Even my friends that hated racers hopped on board for that one just to punch the crap out of people from the back. Four player Tournament was the best! Bowser and Peach was my favorite combo! Both for items and... character reasons.
Sorry Jirard, but Bowser’s Inside Story is the best Mario spinoff. The humor, gameplay, music, and plot are all amazing! The whole buildup and payoff of Fawful is also incredible!
Mario & Sonic at the Olympics is also pretty good overall, that series has a ton of atention to detail, also you get to see both Eggman & Bowser gracefully doing Rythmic Gymnastics

As much as I love Mario RPG, I think paper Mario the thousand year door will always be my favorite Mario spin off game. That game is just perfect.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is to me what Super Mario RPG is to Jirard. Thinking about, talking about and listening to the soundtrack of the game nearly brings tears to my eyes. The story, soundtrack, gameplay, dialogue and art style are all so special and carefully put together. Although I’m unable to play it today (since I’ve somehow lost the disk), I still think about it constantly and would love to see it on the show someday soon.

I love this whole video so much Jirard; the spinoff Mario games always stick with me the hardest and I have such fond memories of each one I've played. I mostly agree about your #1, but I havent actually really played much of Super Mario RPG so my #1 is all the other Mario RPGs i've played. I really love the Mario & Luigi games, yknow? Partners in Time, man! Not talked about enough IMO. I like it more than Paper Mario 2, (I like Super Paper Mario more though) so it's good.

Mario Party 8 is also my favorite party game of all time &, although I have never played Legend of the Seven Stars in my entire life, the greatness of both future RPG series can’t be relegated to just one spot on a list of general topic spin-offs.

Great list Jirard! Though I'm honestly surprised you like Double Dash the most. I'm super nostalgic for it and overall like the game but I'm not the biggest fan of some of the specials (mainly the Koopa/Paratroopa triple shells... that's OP and they coulda done something more creative there) and the game now feels too slippery to me. I 100% agree though that I'd love a double dash feature in 8 Deluxe! That'd be awesome! I'd go nuts if that was apart of the extra support Nintendo hinted at recently.
But anyway... While I 100% agree that the Mario RPGs are some of the best spin offs of the series, I'd probably put either Paper Mario the original or Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door as #1. I love the original because it's the classic tale of Bowser kidnapping Peach (and her actual entire castle!) but I feel like it really expanded on the Mushroom Kingdom we are all familiar with in a way that is more fitting than Super Mario RPG and gave a fresh take on this old as snot story. Yeah, it went to the typical "plain, desert, spooky forest/mansion, jungle/volcano, and ice worlds" formula (while throwing in a few new ones such as Gusty Gulch, Shyguy's Toybox, and Flower Fields) but they gave them actual life! The Goomba and Koopa villages along with the Boos of Bow's Mansion and Gusty Gulch made me actually believe these creatures/race/whatever were actually apart of the Mushroom Kingdom and not exclusively apart of Bowser's Army. Not to mention there were a LOT of call backs to Yoshi's Island on the SNES! The Thousand Year Door then ups the stakes by introducing the X-Nauts and shows us the Mushroom Kingdom isn't entirely happy-go-lucky by showing us it's sketchier side through Rogueport and it's surrounding areas. It also took the mechanics the original established and improved them across the board! To me, this is a rare direct sequel that blows the original out of the water on almost all accounts! There is one last thing I think is flat out great and unique about both games though... You get to see/gather information about what the villains are doing throughout the games through Peach and pass it on to Mario. My personal favorite thing is seeing how the big, intimidating, and evil Bowser is also super freakin' goofy and has more to his character than what you see through playing as Mario! That's one thing I'm glad they retained from Super Mario RPG and I'm glad they continue to go back to it. It's also one of the reasons why Bowser's Inside Story is #3 on my Mario RPG list and why Super Paper Mario is #4.

i love the Mario RPGs out there as well, so good i cant get enough of them, and what's so damn good about Mario RPGs is that you dont have to be skilled in playing RPGs to pick up and enjoy them, they are great for anyone to play, from noobs to RPGists alike.

The last entry made me think of how Paper Mario will never go back to it's roots and expand upon it.
The Super Mario main series may be the meat, but I feel the spin-offs games really cement the franchise and the character's world as the best in video gaming IMO -- it shows that outside of telegraphed platforming worlds, that they also have other ways of exploring it and also adding their Mario touch to it everytime, even the edgy Mario Strikers still doesn't feel too out-of-place due to the characters still being fun loving as ever, just more determined and having more dangerous powerups in their arsenal.
I love Double Dash. Spent hours with friend having "destruction derby" on Baby Park. Really wish they would bring back a team-up mechanic.
