Came here to say the same thing. The original had the backgrounds which showed that the game was a play being acted out. Then All Stars threw them away and revamped them with generic Mario backgrounds.

The tanooki statue lets you destroy things that can only be destroyed with a hammer or star, like thwomps, plus the flames on the airships when you drop on them.

It is, but technically speaking, it has not aged super well, and since it needs to compete with some of the best videogame ever made, it's safe to say that putting it over smb3 or mario galaxy 2 is... well, more a matter of nostalgia then a proper honest opinion. I mean... the fact that a game so sweet as mario sunshine is not in the top 3 list of the best mario games speak more about the level of the mario franchise in the videogame history then about sunshine being less then amazing.

Thanks. I'm 55, and I've been playing Super Mario games since they came out. I used to play all the great old games in the arcades. I've still got an NES, a SNES, a color Gameboy, a Gameboy Advance SP, a DS Lite, and a 3DS. I've got at least one Super Mario game on each platform. SM3 is definitely a perfect video game. It upped everything about Super Mario, and cemented him as an icon forever. Nothing compares to Nintendo for me, and nothing compares to Super Mario, either. Whenever I play one, I always go through it completely, never skipping anything. I never use warps. I want to enjoy all of it! Thanks again. tavi.
It was also my favorite before Odyssey dethrone it for me. But from a completionist point of view I could see why he wouldn't like it. Sunshine has some of the most frustrating levels in all of Mario's history and about 20% of the Shines are just about collecting coins.
Winter Song i love odyssey and all but I just like sunshine for how different it was flood was a ton of fun to use and the overall theme of a tropical vacation was utterly endearing to me lol
The e-Reader was an odd thing. I believe it wasn't even released in Europe. So when I ordered the SMB3 GBA version from a US shop, and some weird cards came with it, I was puzzled.
A note about completing the story of SMB3, at least on the NES (not sure about the All Stars Version), but once you complete the story, as long as you don't turn off the console and start a new game after the credits roll, you will begin the game with your entire inventory filled with P Wings. Not sure if this happens on every SMB3 NES cart, even. But it def happens on the NES cart I own. Something to explore if you ever want to seek out and do the NES version.

Oh man, sonic 3 and knux? That's the first game I completed 100 percent. Even got the hidden final stage, doomsday. It was all great until I powered up my childhood cart and found out the battery failed and all my progress was wiped clean. Man, I hate how game packs had battery operated saves.
I don't know exactly how long it will be before it comes out, but Jirard said on Twitch stream that DKC 3 is coming soon. I don't know if he meant to Super Beard Bros or to Completionist, but ultimately it will come to the Completionist anyway. So here's hoping it comes out in the next few weeks.

The two most nerve wrecking stages in SMB 3 to me are both flying cloud stages,that diagonal flying stage and the fucking Parabeetle stages,those two cause me the most stress of all...including the final stage!

Has Jirard ever completed Mario World for GBA? I always wondered what happens when you get all the coins in world 2-1. You know, the secret coin place inside the pipe toward the middle of the level. It has a switch that you activate and it begins counting the coins. Not sure if anyone knows what I'm talking about.

How many warp whistles? I could always find 3 but I always heard a rumor of a 4th. Even in the game, when you complete one of the levels after level 2 Peach talks about a warp whistle. Was she talking about the one before? Also I loved the shoe. It pretty much made you indestructible and you could kill enemies that pissed you off at pretty much every point up until now (The piranha plants)

The two most nerve wrecking stages in SMB 3 to me are both flying cloud stages,that diagonal flying stage and the fucking Parabeetle stages,those two cause me the most stress of all...including the final stage!

Agreed. Super Mario World has inferior level design, it focused too much secret exits, has less variety of worlds and level ideas. Yoshi is best thing in Super Mario World.

If you play the originals on a widescreen TV the edges of the screen are shown it's overscan but in the All stars I don't think it's there

Has Jirard ever completed Mario World for GBA? I always wondered what happens when you get all the coins in world 2-1. You know, the secret coin place inside the pipe toward the middle of the level. It has a switch that you activate and it begins counting the coins. Not sure if anyone knows what I'm talking about.

How many warp whistles? I could always find 3 but I always heard a rumor of a 4th. Even in the game, when you complete one of the levels after level 2 Peach talks about a warp whistle. Was she talking about the one before?
Also I loved the shoe. It pretty much made you indestructible and you could kill enemies that pissed you off at pretty much every point up until now (The piranha plants)
