I can remember the days before the UAE got united. I collected postage stamps back then, and I had more stamps from the countries that now make up the UAE than from any other countries.
There is no such language as "Pakistani." Since Hasham's language is so similar to Hindi, I'm guessing his native language is probably Urdu. The relationship between Urdu and Hindi is very similar to the relationship between Serbian and Croatian.

Dubai is not my cup of tea. It's secured and you can make a lot of money. But too much materialism and luxury. Even the Mosque looks like a piece of luxury. It's missing the spiritual elements. Go to IRAN and SYRIA if you can. You'll experience real culture that goes back thousands of years. And people are the nicest in those countries.

Hey Elii, just having lots of ressources in the ground doesnt mean that your country will become rich. In fact if you look around many countries that have lots of ressources are quite poor.
Why that is? That happens when you do not spread the income you generate by selling those ressources to your whole population but a few people use this wealth to become super rich themself.
The UAE is one example how to do it right, Norway is a better one. In Norway the profits from the oil and gas are put into a investment fund owned by the state and its population. This has made Norway one of the richest countries world wide.
In Russia there are a handful of oligarchs that basically control all the wealth and so not your government can put this money to use. Yes it might have a trickle down effect of some sort, like when an oligrach wants to build a new villa and there is not a good road to the location then he may build a better road so he can go there more comfortably and of course the workers that build the stuff get paid too.
But the largest part of his money does nothing to create more wealth in russia.
I know for a fact that every € publicly invested in germany creates roughly 10 more €. Example: A new highway is being built. The workers who build it get their wages and buy food and clothing with it. The clothing company can buy new machines or hire more workers and the farmer too. Now the tractor company can do the same and so on.
Second big problem of russia is most of the ressources are located in places nobody wants to live in like in the far north or in inaccessible mountains. This leads to increased extraction cost for those ressources and therefore a smaller profit.
For example Norilsk Nickel exracts precious metals in Norilsk near the arctic ocean. Nobody would move there without some strong motivation in form of a much better pay. Also machines and infrastructure in those rather extreme locations tend to break down more easy as in warmer climates which all drives up the cost.
But Norilsk Nickel cant raise the price for nickel as high as they would like but has to sell it for whatever the current world market price is. Which limits the profit.
Add to that that the russian society is basically still in the early 20th century from its development for the largest part. Which is further amplified by the bad russian civil infrastructure (not many roads, no internet in many places) which leads to slow travelling news and only slow travelling people.
Factor in that Moscow is basically the center of russia and the rest becomes gradually worse the farther away from Moscow you are means also that not that many people can come together in one place to protest against it.
If we germans all would decide that the politcs in Berlin are shit and we want to protest there so they can see our anger for themself we could easily have like 10 million more people there within a day. Could you bring 10 million more people to Moscow if you wanted to protest against your government if you wanted to in 24 hours? I doubt it.
All those things make it easier for your elite to control most of the population and also to make many people uninterested in politics cause they fell like they cant change a thing.
So is russia responsible for where it is right now? I say yes, you cant control everything like market prices and stuff but if you have next to no will to develop your country and society into something more modern then you will be forever stuck in the past.
Which is best represented by your victory parades each year. You are celebrating a victory that was 80 years ago cause you have nothing else to be proud of more recently, sad but true.
Nobody else has parades for the victory over the nazis anymore, you know why? We have moved on, nobody really cares that much about something that happened 80 years ago. We usually have to much to do living our everyday life.
But the russian backward mentality is what is limiting russia.

I fell asleep reading this diatribe mate, but what i read was sort of a passive aggressive BS attack on Eli.
As for the riches of Germany, foreign workers are making the roads. Corporate owned stores foreign owned, are robbing the people who have the money, with extortionist food prices, most of the food stuffs are from overseas. The average German gets Sweet FA from your so called investments in country. Same here in Australia, we are rich, but we have nothing. The foreigners own it all..

The Grand Mosque was quite impressive, but the Starbucks kind of surprised me. One of the best things about the desert in the summer are the warm nights when you can relax, eat and drink outside, after the sun goes down. The desert can have its charm and serenity, but I try to schedule that for winter or spring. Camping in the California deserts in the winter and early spring is very memorable. The nights are cool and the days are perfect.
You were very diplomatic at the end and put a nice spin on your visit. Who knows, maybe it will flourish...

Of course they have a history, but they destroyed most of it & built modern buildings.
Their entire country is similar in size to Moscow & their massive oil money is used in that small area whereas Russia has to spend its oil money to develop the biggest country in the world - & so the results are different.
That couple were quite odd & not interesting. The girl looked like a child of parents who drank too much & her comments "it's hot here" were so simple-minded. It would be better to have talked to real locals.
Why do you call the video "leaving Russia"? It sounds political & I think it's intentional & not good because it's not the first example from this channel. Just remember - people who stab their country in the back, especially in wartime, will stab their friends & family in the back. Nobody likes a traitor.

Think about what you are saying. People have souls, places do not. Perhaps you mean that connection between people, which of course is more difficult when you don't know many people. And when you walked past a masjid, and heard the athan calling to prayer, it had no affect on you, so perhaps it is you that has no soul? It's just a perspective right? At least the government cares about it's people, and the leader has a vision, and has created a safe country. Now you can list all the other places that fulfill that criteria.

    • @kauaimu
      @kauaimu ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@SA-cloud Whether you're a Muslim, or not, your thinking is very literal, like most Muslims. Of course, places don't have souls, but it seems that you don't understand figurative speech, (as in a figure of speech). When people talk about the soul of a country, or a city, it's more a figure of speech, than an actual soul, as for humans. But that might be too hard for your mind to imagine, isn't it? I'm not picking on you personally, since this's true for the 99% of Middle-easterners, of whom I'm one, myself, hence, Sci-Fi being the least popular form of entertainment here.
As for the government that takes care of its people, yes, I agree with you 100%, because that's the only way that that form of government, as in the whole Middle East region, can actually justify its legitimacy, minus any form of a representative government. So, every Emir, or King, or even President, in this region, must act as father, who takes good care of his citizen-children, even treat them as little children, who must be rewarded for good behavior, and punished for misbehavior. And this probably explains why Middle-easterners in general are of the least emotionally mature people on earth, having the lowest EQ in the world. They live and die as some of the most emotionally retarded people in the world, live and die never knowing the true taste of freedom, live and die never knowing what personal sovereignty is, live and die never knowing what complete independence and self-sufficiency is, live and die never knowing what total self-responsibility, and live and die forever remaining the emotionally-retarded children of their Emir. A society without renewable wisdom, creativity, arts, invention, technology, without ever reaching its full human potential. Oh, but they're so good at recalling and remunerating their past accomplishments, as well as, in imitating Western culture to the extent of following them into the shaft of a lizard (as per the Hadith of the Prophet).

I am not like others you may happen upon, not at all, for I know much more about this reality than most know is possible. And that isn't just some idol talk. For a moment, imagine what I am saying. Yes, you will meet very few people that really know. Humans can be the most noble of creatures or worst than animals. The race is the same for all, some have decided to understand more than what they eyes deceive them to understand. Some, were rewarded beyond what they deserve, but then, truly, He creates and chooses out of them.

He also has a vison for his country. Having 2 such lovely friends in Dubai Eli puts back all the character that Dubai normally hasn't got, not lost, as it never has had character. Hasham's Urdu is entwined so much with Farsi, that being a Farsi speaker one can very basically communicate with a Urdu speaker. Depending on his accent Hasham may not agree with that, but I have no problem using Farsi when ordering food in a Pakistani restaurant. I'm Australian but learnt to speak Farsi in the South West of Iran (1970's), with heavy Kurdish overtones and an Aussie accent to add flavour😳 Eli you'd be surprised how many Russian, or Slavic words are in Farsi, but unfortunately not enough to communicate with. Dubai, the city, is sterility on steroids, ugh!! All that desert is where the character of Dubai (the UAE) lays, under the stars with the noises of the animals and birds of a night, such natural beauty. Hot of a day, yes, but so what. The desert people have so much traditional culture, however finding them in their traditional camps can be a problem but their hospitality is beyond reproach. Sharing a cup of tea with them is quite priceless. As usual with all your videos Eli, this video is factual and faultless.🙏🙏💗💯

Maybe give Oman a try; it's right next door from the UAE. The weather is the same, but otherwise it gets rid of the UAE's other downsides. The people are on the average friendlier and more grounded, the nature is way better (yay mountains!), the cities are built at a human scale, their history is more interesting as they were essentially the Portugal of Arabia and had colonies stretching from Pakistan to Zanzibar. And it's very safe for women travelers. It's easily my favorite country in the region; maybe that will change if/when I ever get to visit Iran.

The architecture is the thing I would like to see in real time but the complete atmosphere around feels dead.

Bcos unlike europe there’s no preserved architecture from past
All are modern day skyscrapers which we can see everywhere these day
Uae somehow is not showcasing it’s culture instead I see riches with skyscrapers

Russia is my favorite country. Moscow is amazing and has nothing to envy to other world capitals such as Dubai, New York etc. Abu Dhabi is nice! If you like people go to Iran, they are amazing and so welcoming.

Not having the opportunity to speak with very many everyday people there says much about your not being able to gage the depth of the local population. A longer stay would have given you a better feel about the place. Very insteesing and informative video.
I hope you have opportunity to visit the United States for a few weeks or more and also hope you eventually go back to Russia and begin a business offering fun tours of places in your own country.
Your heart is good and your journey is so interesting. Thank you for sharing.

Eli; I enjoy your programs. The Emirates and really the whole structure of industrial society is just a 'flash in the pan' (as we say in the USA, not sure where that comes from). The techno-industrial world is 100% dependent on a massive flow of fossil fuels-- note that they are 'fossil' fuels, an inheritence from the past. The 'world' burns 100 million barrels (42 gallons per barrel) per day of petroleum
