I carry that exact leatherman every day in a Blue Force gear 10 speed belt pouch, and I 100% agree that it's the best. I own a ton of other ones that just didn't inspire the same levels of confidence. I used to carry a Black Oxide Vic Swisstool (I can't remember the exact type) and it was good, but there were a couple of times where I just felt like I was using it too hard. I never feel that way with the Black Surge.
I carried a surge for years until it became too much tool. For all practical purposes, he should leave those two tiny knives at home because the surge will be able do to everything they can do.
+Peter Dassira thx for commenting. Google + has shut down my access to my own page!!! I have started another channel "Saved Monk Outdoors Channel" on youtube and will continue uploading vids there. Sorry for the inconvenience.
hay thank you I will look up the belt, and thank you for responding and just think I didn't even think you would . Keep up with the great hard work on the videos. you be blessed also thanks again.
Nice! There is only one more thing you might want for your fire kit. You have the batteries you need some steel wool. .0000 steel wool and the battery is another way to start a fire. Nice kit though, thanks for sharing.
I use a survival belt too, on it I have a pouch, my Wicked Tough Saw and my 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet, if I'm carrying a 2knife carry (actually 3knife), one of my Fav's is my Rodent 7 and my Rodent 4, if I go light my Modde Rodent 6 which I had the top gaurd taken off and I had it thinned down, and I do like a neck knife, but I just got a Rodent 3 an awesome shorty, it fills my hand pretty good and it's a great carver, I wear a large glove, I can attach a cooking/canteen kit, most of the time it's just a canteen, if defence is necessary then my converted .460 Rowland comes along, Yeah most belts are very similar with a few minor changes, I don't piggyback my knives since mine are robust and would be too heavy, but I do carry my larger knife on person on my survival belt, just incase I'm seperated from my pack or sling pack, Thanx for sharing, the piece your brother made look's sweet.

Nice setup , I have a similar set but a little different in knives etc. My handgun I use for the woods is a Ruger Redhawk 44 magnum 5 inch barrel with milder reloads and hollow points for better control but more powerful than a 40 cal. semi auto , plus a custom holster . To each his own I guess everyone's choices are different.
I love the sword belt, I have use a similar set up.. good quality leather is the way to go. No problem the with firearm(live in Arizona most everyone carries away from cities). only concern from my point of view imho that loose rope belt could cause major malfunction during quick movement through brush/undergrowth by hanging up on limbs. I like my gear snug not making noise. Point is though, if it works for you then great...cheers mate.(opinions are like butts...everyone has one) Peace.

That's a great system! I agree that personal self defense against any kind of predators is the most important part of bushcrafting. Will that p40 stop a black bear?? I'm looking for a small gun that I can use for protection, rather than carrying a 12 gauge. Thanks and great video! David
Very nice belt kit. I especially like your leather mods. Agree on the maple handles, beauty! I like you attitude, minus the gun maybe, ;) but that's a Canadian thing. :) I get your reasoning actually. Safety first! You have a great personality imo. Worth the sub and looking forward to following you. Be well brother Craig
Forestwalker111 Google + has shut down my access to my own page!!! I have started another channel "Saved Monk Outdoors Channel" on youtube and will continue uploading vids there. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Forestwalker111 "I like your attitude, minus the gun maybe." This implies you think there's something wrong with him carrying a gun. Your snarky comment aside, I guess there could be two other interpretations. You just personally wouldn't carry a gun; or you have a problem with that _specific_ gun, not guns in general. However, I doubt the latter because you followed up with the statement "but that's a Canadian thing", and I find it hard to believe that Canadians as a whole dislike specific guns. So, if you truly just wouldn't carry a gun for personal reasons, and not an anti-gun bias, then I can respect that.
Say Heah, I'm a 3rd class Benedictine. I just recently got into Piggyback, Mine are in Kydex, Infact I had my first made for my Rodent 7 and my Rodent 4, But I changed my Rodent 4 for my Rodent 3 and Piggybacked my Rodent 4 with my Rodent 9, I Baldric Carry both Piggyback's, But I concocted my Rodent Ratweiler and my Rodent Solution and attached my Mora Classic #1 to my Bokor Rold Sheath, I also concocted my Benchmade Arvensis 119 with my Bokor Coye Ridgeback which was very hard, because both Sheath's are taco Sheath's and the holes are on the same side and don't match, But I use an ID chain and two plastic ties and it came out Aces. Those I wear on my Belt. I would luv a Leather Piggyback Sheath for my Rodent 5 and my Rodent 3, or my Gerber Freeman Hunter in the S30V and my GCM Recurve Damascus Bowie, Both have Stag Handles, Thanx for sharing the Piggyback Leather Sheath is Aces, Thanx You. ,, .
Piggyback has its pros and cons. Looks cool and saves space. But it is putting all your eggs in one basket. I did a ESEE 3 on a Junglas. The 3 was left home in favor of a SAK-style knife. I baldric a Winkler Camp Knife and a Hunter. Carriers the weight much better than belt carry.
Yeah, I plan my trips though, and I take what I practiced with to see the good vs. the bad before I take it on a solo. Yeah, one of my Fav's is my Rodent 7/Rodent 3, But then because of the way the shraths fit together on my Fallkniven A-1/H-1 I carry those two side by side and I really like those two. I also piggybacked vertically my Bokor Black Vox Rold/Mora Classic #1 for a Lite Piggyback Carry, I like that combo and then my Horizontal Carry Piggyback my Benchmade Arvensis/Bokor Vote Rigeback another very Lite Piggyback Carry, I really like my Ratweiler/Rodent Solution, another vertical Piggyback Carry but a bit heavy.,,. That's why the Baldric Carry.,,.
Any praticular reason for sticking with the 6-7in blades and not going larger? For what I assume you're doing, a 9-10 inch chopper would provide better use.
Well yeah, I think a 7" blade is a good blade size for a Survival Knife and I can control it for more task specific tasks, I also like to team it with a smaller knife. Since I also like bringing a hatchet/saw too. It's lighter than a larger Survival knife. Oh, don't get me wrong, I love my Rodent 9/Rodent 4 Piggyback that I Baldric Carry, But since I do bring a Hatchet and a Saw, I find my Rodent 7/Rodent 3 works pretty good because its a little lighter. I could still baton with the 7" blade, but again, since I do bring a Hatchet, yeah, I like the lighter set. But I also have a great combo with my Anniversary Straight Handle Battle Mistress and one of my Ratmandu in the INFI Steel, both are INFI, I also have a Nuclear Meltdown Fusdion Steel Heart I team my other INFIMandu, That's a awesome set too. Infact I just ordered my second Large Bowie Limited Edition by Ka-Bar, its the BK-29 Moses Bowie, the first one was the BKz-20 Bundok Bowie, their around 11" blades and a 1/4" thick. Both Kits came with two knives plus the Bowie. So yeah, I like large knives, But when I bring a Hatchet and a Saw, I simply go lighter.,,.
Now this is a cool channel. I just subscribed. Good idea on the belt. Adding jewelers rouge can add grit to the belt and make it strop better. I like Bark River's black magic. Great kit!

Very nice rig and well thought out! My two questions are, do you live in Pa? And was your father Rev. Moon? Plus your brother designed the Kahr? Soo cool. I'm a fan and I'll watch all your videos.
Nice gear. But man, that is a lot to haul around. When I get to billy goating, things start getting left behind quickly. I love my leatherman surge but that is one heavy toy and quite honestly replace those two smaller blades you have. I generally get by with a 10in chopper and a BSA-style folder.

With all of the negatives that have been posted, I would say that what separates the United states from the rest of the world is that firearm on your belt. To them I say screw em all but six and we will use them as pallbearers. I do think you might want to rethink the stopping a charging bear though. "Yes, there have been times when a bear was taken with a 22, but if you asked the person who has done it it if they would want to try it again, they would say no." That is a quotation from Townsend Whelen, an American outdoors legend. I use a belt kit all of the time. Even in the thick east Texas woods, I have had no problem tramping through the woods. I do not think I would like the water bottle hanging off of my belt though.
@@samadler9253 not many pistol rounds will. That's why in Alaska they carry bush rifles usually 45-70 Government. Pistols are for two legged creatures.
Your father is Sun Myung Moon then. Interesting family history. I remember the "Moonies". You must be Hyung Jin? I was rather surprised when I found out your brother invented Kahr Arms because guns didn't seem like it melded with the Moonies movement. It just took me back to the '70's when traversing around the US. You appear to have inherited the very best qualities of your parents keenness and fine personality as you are a very nice presenter. I really enjoyed your video and got some great tips. Walt -Chicago
I'd much rather have 6 rounds of 45 Colt or 44 magnum for predators, like bear, than 40cal. But dido on the neck knife thing. I keep all my knives strapped to my belt too.

Some people on here have apparently never actually been in the woods, and have never seen a military gear belt. There's one born every minute, all right, but that one is not the maker of this video.
If I could own a gun, I would, but IMHO 4 of the 5 Cs come first. A knife is not just a weapon but a tool and you can die much faster of exposure than running into a dangerous predator...
Hi from Poland. Great vid, but all that gear in firestarting pouch. I just dont get it. What for? Dont get me wrong, im not hating but tell me what,s the point. 1 in this price u can have like a kilo of bic lighters both piezo and flint, dispatchet all over the gear 2 emergency fire source in my humble oppinion should be truelly emergency so why carrying a battery, steelwool, fatwood, candle, parabolic mirror, lense, kmno4, bottle of sulfuric acid and a specially designed tool with a dent for wood drill fire? And all that in one pouch on the utility belt, thats not worn 100 of a time. Again, far from hate, curious, from other country with even more fffffuped law regulations. All the best
enjoying gods beautiful creation. i have enjoyed this creation. peace be with you.

So yeah, I like large knives, But when I bring a Hatchet and a Saw, I simply go lighter.,,.
cool belt kit man
Nice stuff. Looks real good. Please increase the volume in your next video. Thanks.
Great video bro, keep up the great work!!!
nice kit, where'd you get the magnification lens in that brass tin?
Now this is a cool channel. I just subscribed. Good idea on the belt. Adding jewelers rouge can add grit to the belt and make it strop better. I like Bark River's black magic. Great kit!
TJack thx brother! Google + has shut down my access to my own page!!! I have started another channel "Saved Monk Outdoors Channel" on youtube and will continue uploading vids there. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Ok no problem!
Great video, thanks! What is the stuff you were talking about at 20:45, did you say chaga?
charles may at a surplus thats cool. i have that model myself
Very nice rig and well thought out! My two questions are, do you live in Pa? And was your father Rev. Moon? Plus your brother designed the Kahr? Soo cool. I'm a fan and I'll watch all your videos.
Yes he is.
Nice gear. But man, that is a lot to haul around. When I get to billy goating, things start getting left behind quickly.
I love my leatherman surge but that is one heavy toy and quite honestly replace those two smaller blades you have. I generally get by with a 10in chopper and a BSA-style folder.
You could walk around Alaska with all of that. :)
alaskankare i love alaska!!! fished kodiak and hunted there! Great place, but i would need more than this for sure! :) Google + has shut down my access to my own page!!! why'd they do that?
Great video, -- Clark

And a .40 auto won't stop a black bear. Personal experience
Or grizzly bear, and polar bears and I wouldn't want to trust it against a pissed off moose ether.
@@samadler9253 similarly it won't be much help against a snake or any other hard to hit critter...
Glock 29 10mm will
Capable? Yes.
Guaranteed? No.
@@samadler9253 not many pistol rounds will. That's why in Alaska they carry bush rifles usually 45-70 Government. Pistols are for two legged creatures.
what did you need to get saved from?
Amen and Aju...

I liked this vid, i subscribed
Nice kit, but no flashlight?
Do you ever have to run with that on?
Nice shout out to Toys R Us!!!
What are the Nails for, in the Fire Tin?
god bless you xpeacex
HAY BROTHER WHERE YOU BEEN WE MISS YOU. MERRY CHRISTMAS BROTHER TO ALL YALL.
Old
Video but great kit man
i am a chaga addict its curing me of a few illness now as i have diabetes type2.

James Ritchie
So does that mean the maker of the video is legit? I do not quite understand the meaning of your comment.
I go out in the woods on a weekly basis and I don't own a firearm of any kind. The most dangerous thing out there are people who romanticize weaponry.
Where did you find leather belt
I like your kit. Not understanding all the hate. European anti gun people perhaps?
European anti gun people? You're wearing some massive cultural blinkers you know.
If I could own a gun, I would, but IMHO 4 of the 5 Cs come first. A knife is not just a weapon but a tool and you can die much faster of exposure than running into a dangerous predator...
@@paulrudd1063 Cultural blinkers? How wide spread is gun ownership in Europe. It's not. That was a choice of the populous. No blinkers there.
cool
Do you eat fish? Or any kind of meat
Could you post the link for the arrow shape striker, thank you..
Can't strop a knife with a military pistol belt. Good point with the leather.
Hi from Poland. Great vid, but all that gear in firestarting pouch. I just dont get it. What for? Dont get me wrong, im not hating but tell me what,s the point.
1 in this price u can have like a kilo of bic lighters both piezo and flint, dispatchet all over the gear
2 emergency fire source in my humble oppinion should be truelly emergency so why carrying a battery, steelwool, fatwood, candle, parabolic mirror, lense, kmno4, bottle of sulfuric acid and a specially designed tool with a dent for wood drill fire? And all that in one pouch on the utility belt, thats not worn 100 of a time.
Again, far from hate, curious, from other country with even more fffffuped law regulations.
All the best
Your father was the great Rev.Moon?
What church do you pastor?
