Well recorded vid, but I feel like the basics of shifting were already covered in another vid, and that was better. I was just coming here to work on shifting while standing, I've ridden bikes for years, but need to improve and learn more about shifting while standing. But I don't feel like you actually covered it whatsoever. Only that we need to be able to do it and why it is important.

These calmly explained instructions should help new riders shift more easily and effectively ! Agree that it will become more natural after time spent on bike. Patient, calm riding style at first helps. Best advice I can give on missing gears?? Don’t show off!! Cheers!!!

I like the feeling of almost getting ripped off the bike when shifting so I go wide open on the throttle as soon as I shift

Gripping the dirt bike with the knees is a way that you can eliminate that from happening!

@@RadAdventureDude yes I do this other wise I wouldn’t stay on the bike very long the way I ride it 😂

Haha well I know you like the 0-100 feeling, but rolling on the throttle can help you gain more traction by not spinning the rear wheel!
      Keep up the great work!

Been working on this myself lately. Learning to keep heels down, legs straight, moving the upper body over the handle bars more as accelerating. You know you hit the sweet spot when you can hit that throttle and are able to counteract that force with body positioning and are not wearing out your arms.

Lots of information to take in, but great tips for me as a new rider. Step by step!

Are there any other questions you have about your bike or your riding?

That’s great! When you find your wide open space, and shift up into second gear. You will see that Second gear has a little more speed, but much less torque. This will make second gear actually easier to cruise in while riding on your dirt bike!
What kind of dirt bike do you have?

Doesn't moving your foot back and forth throw you off balance? Or is that where the knee grip comes into play? As well as practice. OR do you have counterbalance when you move your foot? Newbie especially to standing here! 😀

With riding boots, they're pretty stiff so for me, picking up my entire leg with my toe under the shifter is how I upshift. Downshift looks exactly like he shows. Ideally, your shift should be short enough to not upset the balance of the bike (front to back or left to right).
