Rick Astley is 55 years old today, he's British. This song was released 27th july 1987, producers Stock Aitken & Waterman, Rick was 21 years old when the song came out. What he wore was fashion back then, amoungst other styles. 80's other side to style React to Allison Moyet with the song all cried out, ricks hair was Brown btw guys.
Another Alison Moyet fan here, would make a great female Friday video, either All Cried out as suggested, or for ultimate 80’s synth pop Don’t Go by Yazoo, the band she was in before going solo
The song was his first solo, recorded on New Year's Day in 1987, one month before his 21st birthday. Since Jordan loves "crooners" you should check out Rick's other hit, a cover of Nat King Cole's "When I Fall in Love." You will not be disappointed.
@@angelarasmussen1800, not that I'm aware of. His time at the top of the charts was short-lived. I think too many of songs relied on the same beat and the audience got bored. Love that you had the same reaction to his voice as I did, back in the day. I had heard the song on the radio and really liked it. At home one day, I was in the kitchen and my tween kids were watching MTV (I think) and when this came on, my daughter yelled for me to come and see the guy singing one of my current favorite songs. When I saw all that power coming out of what looked like a 12 year old, my reaction was "No ***king way!"
Rick-rolling is when you troll someone on the internet by linking to the music video for Rick Astley’s 1987 hit song “Never Gonna Give You Up.” It is, by far, the most popular example of bait-and-switch linking.
Haven't heard this in a long time. I grew up in the 80's and yes it was amazing the music every week we had hit songs come out like this.. Love the reaction and been a fan since before you guys posted this. Love you guys and glad God opened a door for you both

Reactions to Rick Astley are always the best. :) Rick was 21 at the time. He had many other hits after this and then retreated from the music industry until a few years ago, releasing an album called '50' and another one last year. The voice is still there. I would love to see you react to the lead single, 'Angels on My Side'.

I loved this song when it first came out and I still like it. Rick’s voice is so rich. I loved Jay’s reaction when Rick started singing. Also, I agree with him that Rick’s hair looked red in that video.
One of the best things about this song is that it was one of the first memes of the internet dubbed the "Rick Roll" in which other song intros would start then roll into this song, and the gag went viral. Best part about the whole thing is that Rick Astley himself leaned into the meme and thought of it as fun free publicity.
Rick was early 20s in that video! That voice was and still is amazing. His dancing brings me joy every time. And he definitely has red tones in his hair which you can see in other videos. I hope you guys explore more of his music. Cry For Help is amazing!

Lol... Give it up for the GINGERS !! And he's British ! I always thought it was funny that you can't tell when someone is not American when they're singing ! Nothing but LOVE !!!
The baby-faced Brit Rick Astley was only 21-years-old when he set the music world on fire with "Never Gonna Give You Up"! And nearly everybody I knew back in 1987 reacted the same way Jordan did when they first SAW the man behind that big baritone voice!
@RobSquad you need to hit Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young "Carry On". Mama Cass put them together and never had you heard four men's voices blend like these. And this is pre-digital, so no electronic crutches here.
He released a ballad version of this song around a year ago. It's just him and a piano. It gives it a totally different feeling. I definitely recommend watching it.

He still occasionally performs this song for fans for all ages in clubs. Wikipedia calls his genre "blue eyed soul," which is kind of silly and maybe a bit rude. What’s funny is that there is a you tube video out there about the rick roll. And rick astley explains this video, that it was all his own clothes and he was just told to dance around and he just started moving around. It was a last minute video. Others started dancing with us.I am dancing again in my living room today. Thank you for making me feel young again. Canadian Grandma. Lori.C.
Amber, another great 80's tune you guys will love: Rod Stewart ~ "Forever Young". I'll dedicate it to your beautiful family.
I have listened to Rod Stewart’s entire collection and this one always his me hard. One of his greatest.
Rick is 55 years years old, he was 20 or 21 when this song came out in 1987. When I first heard this on MTV I couldn't believe that voice came out of that guy.
He's 58 now.
Greetings from Finland!!!OMG this is soooo good song.... i was born in 86, but my big brother was blasting this when i was toddler.... I dont know guys but something was clicking it when i heard this on a radio... Maybe its something that reflects happy memories from my childhood....Found this song again just few years back and i just cant get enough it... Love u guys to react to it and another videos of u 2 aswell !!! ive watched mostly ur movie reactions and i gotta tell u i love u guys...Its like watching movies with a friend .... Peace
Yazoo!
Another Alison Moyet fan here, would make a great female Friday video, either All Cried out as suggested, or for ultimate 80’s synth pop Don’t Go by Yazoo, the band she was in before going solo
@@jonharries7101 yeah Yazoo great band, Vince Clarke on keyboard.👌
@@emmahowells8334 another Vince Clarke fan, so many great songs between Depeche Mode, Yazoo and Erasure
@@jonharries7101 Exactly totally agree, huge hits.👌
The song was his first solo, recorded on New Year's Day in 1987, one month before his 21st birthday. Since Jordan loves "crooners" you should check out Rick's other hit, a cover of Nat King Cole's "When I Fall in Love." You will not be disappointed.
I second that motion! It's a great cover.
I was just thinking that Rick has a crooner's voice and the style, so if he did a Bing Crosby or Dean Martin song it would be fun to know.
@@angelarasmussen1800, not that I'm aware of. His time at the top of the charts was short-lived. I think too many of songs relied on the same beat and the audience got bored. A song that was a minor hit, which I absolutely love is "Cry For Help." It is neither a crooner-style or dance hit, but has a much stronger gospel undertone. th-cam.com/video/C2xel6q0yao/w-d-xo.html
@@andyskurna1407 thanks. His look really changed in that video
@@andyskurna1407 you've forgotten about Together Forever..that was another big hit.
Best Rick Roll ever! No one could believe that voice was actually coming out of a little dude who looked like Richie Cunningham from Happy Days!
I doubt they know who Richie is!
@@SC-gp7kt so, it’s impossible that they would watch old tv shows or old movies?
@@littleogeechee223 no not impossible, but improbable.

Another great song is Dan Hartman and "I Can Dream About You" from the soundtrack to the film Streets of Fire. Also it was great to see you both Rick Rollin !!
I love,love,love that song
I've found my people!!!😂😂 None of my friends or family like that movie. The music in it alone is top notch. Definitely one of my guilty pleasure movies!!!
@@annmariemills1554 no accounting for truly good movie and musical taste.Your friends just don't understand understated greatness but we got your back girl.

Yes! I'd love to see that reaction!
I will admit to loving this song still and I don't care whether it is considered a joke this song is a VIBE
I agree. I am going through RobSquad stuff recently and I am glad that this song is appreciated for what it WAS back then...a REALLY good pop tune.
I agree with some of the other subscribers, "Together forever" by Rick, is a must.
But I I also love this tune just as much. Great reaction J . I'm glad you like this.
I just had to say that I loved Jordan's jaw drop at the start of Rick's singing. Perfect reaction. Great song guys.
And oddly, it's still amusing regardless that it's been driven into the ground interminably.
Oh, God! You Rick Rolled us! No!
If you have not been properly rick rolled, you need to throw that laptop in the trash can! You do not belong on youtube in the first place!
BS
LOL! You're Rick rolling us. 🤣
Lol, even better... They first Rick rolled THEMSELVES!!! :D
Right-- i said the same thing.
Haven't heard this in a long time. I grew up in the 80's and yes it was amazing the music every week we had hit songs come out like this..
Love the reaction and been a fan since before you guys posted this. Love you guys and glad God opened a door for you both
Haha. I Rick Roll my daughter all the time. And wake her up with this song. She’s like “Really?!?!?” “Noooooo!” I quite enjoy it!!! Lol. She’s hearing me watching you and she’s like “What are you doing!?” I’m dying laughing.
I love that you wake her up with this song 😂
Heart Emoji :-)
Never gonna let you sleep, I'm gonna wake you up... 🎶🎶🎶
I hope you back it up with 'the rick dance'

Reactions to Rick Astley are always the best. :)
Rick was 21 at the time.
He had many other hits after this and then retreated from the music industry until a few years ago, releasing an album called '50' and another one last year. The voice is still there. I would love to see you react to the lead single, 'Angels on My Side'.
Wrong, 20.

If you want to hear him sing an oldie, listen to him singing, "When I Fall in Love". He does a great job...just like you two.
My wife and I have been married nearly 41 years and this was one of our favorite songs......41 years after a 6 month courtship, no bad!
Congrats!
one of the best singers to come from the 80s .... and still sounds great to this day ... and he become popular on you tube again the last few years because of his dance moves the kids call it rick rolling ..
Just found your channel and after a couple of reviews you did......you TWO are so perfect together....alot of love showing and it makes my heart so happy!!!!
😂😂😂Your initial reaction had me laughing out loud for 5 minutes!! Remember when I first heard it in a club, then saw his face…..SHOCKING! But a lesson was again learned……..NEVER judge a book by its cover!! Bang On 80s Monster
Hey he's cute leave him alone😂😂😂😂
Hahaha 😂😂
Facts. I was the same way all those years ago!!
This song got the dance floor going back in the 80's, just great music...
I loved this song when it first came out and I still like it. Rick’s voice is so rich. I loved Jay’s reaction when Rick started singing. Also, I agree with him that Rick’s hair looked red in that video.
He was 21 when this song came out. He is 55 now. You got “rickrolled” Jay!
Finally !
Yeah this song may be an anthem for a whole generation... Definitely 80's vibe.
I'd like to see you react to some "Depeche Mode" songs now like "Personal Jesus" or "Enjoy the Silence", just to stay in that 80's mood.
Love you guys.
My teenage years. Still gets played on radio. Makes you want to dance. Feel good music
I have watched this so many times! I'd like to see Rick Astley respond to Jay's response!! LOL. Jay is just the funniest here. 🤣
I totally love this. The song & Rick Astley, brilliant. His got some amazing voice. I’ll never get tired listening to this. Thank you guys for reacting to it.
He's extremely cool and humble about the whole rickrolling thing, too.
This song is fantastic.
Lol... Give it up for the GINGERS !! And he's British ! I always thought it was funny that you can't tell when someone is not American when they're singing ! Nothing but LOVE !!!
A great 80's group to check out -- Culture Club with Boy George -- Do You Really Want to Hurt Me & Karma Chameleon were big radio hits.
Another great one "Time (Clock of the Heart)". Also "Church of The Poison Mind".
Love Boy George!
Agreed. Needs to be added to the future reactions list.
The baby-faced Brit Rick Astley was only 21-years-old when he set the music world on fire with "Never Gonna Give You Up"! And nearly everybody I knew back in 1987 reacted the same way Jordan did when they first SAW the man behind that big baritone voice!
I had this on cassette in the 90s when i grew up and i still have the greatest hits on CD lol
@RobSquad you need to hit Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young "Carry On". Mama Cass put them together and never had you heard four men's voices blend like these. And this is pre-digital, so no electronic crutches here.
Cannot agree more
Absolutely! Everything CSN&Y!!!!
And SOUTHERN CROSS !!!

He released a ballad version of this song around a year ago. It's just him and a piano. It gives it a totally different feeling. I definitely recommend watching it.
I did’t know that, thanks for the suggestion! 🥰

I love the bouncy, happy, energetic vibe of this song
Me too! Always felt good listening to it.
I would recommend “Cry for Help.” As another great Rick Astley song. Really shows off his vocals.
Agreed “ Cry for Help” ... just brilliant.
And it really shows a lot more soul in it. Definitely recommended.

My favorite 80s song, and possibly my favorite song ever, has to be Tears for Fear - Everybody Wants To Rule The World. Please check it out. It’s so good.
One of my favorites also but I'm very partial to any Hall and Oates
Good choice. I might go with a Cure track personally but TFF is right up there
Definitely the best 80's song....and I looove the 80's
Sadly I never saw TFF live, BUT I saw Don Henly (Eagles) tour down here in Australia in 2017. He and his band played "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" to take the piss out of Donald tRump... And it was almost note perfect... Brilliant..!
Not a patch on woman in chains
Just saying,he performed this with the foo fighters a few years ago now?? It's awesome 🤘🤘 lotsa 💖💖 for Yas, from 🇳🇿🇳🇿
I saw that video. I love the Foos and when Dave brought him up, I loved it.
Rick also did some phenomenal "COVID covers" from home last year.
He covered Everlong and it was great!
It really is a great performance ! I love how the Foo Fighters celebrate music with ALL of their favorite artists !!! Their BeeGees collection that they're doing now is fantastic !!!
@@gayleeidson6724 the Bee Gees, I mean Dee Gees, are fabulous. All the Food seem to be great people. They never hesitate to make fun of themselves.
Jay, your reaction is the same as everyone in the USA when they first heard him sing. Some people even said there must be some ugly dude with a great voice and Rick was lip syncing. He still occasionally performs this song for fans for all ages in clubs. Wikipedia calls his genre "blue eyed soul," which is kind of silly and maybe a bit rude. This song is a guilty pleasure for millions. Rick Astley was born in 1966 and has remained married to the same lady.
When you guys sway together it is priceless! Just priceless and makes me smile so much!
Cry for help is another very beautiful song of Rick!
Those eyes when he first started singing. Rick Rolled to the extreme bro.

My Arms Keep Missing You!!! Great dance b-side!
I loved this song when it first come out. I never heard a song of his I didn't like. I've listened to some of his new songs and he still sounds great. I even heard him sing uptown funk! By the way, his hair was red!

HomeFree did two "new" songs on April 1, to "Rick roll" everyone. They then did a real cover of this song, and mimicked a lot of the original video.
Omg! One of my favorites! His voice is soooo amazing!!! Make my heart melt! ❤️😍🥰☺️
What’s funny is that there is a you tube video out there about the rick roll. And rick astley explains this video, that it was all his own clothes and he was just told to dance around and he just started moving around. It was a last minute video. The pro dancers were improvising. It gave me a new appreciation for this great hit by the goofy looking kid with the amazing voice.
He released a great new album a few years ago titled "50". The songs "Angels On My Side" and "Pray With Me" are awesome - some gospel inspired pop.
The video for Angels on my side is SO fun!
@@jeanfrancis8121, yes. I just finished watching it again. After commenting about it & Pray With Me, I had to hear them both again. 🙂
This brings me back to being a kid and dancing around the room with my sister. What a fun song with a great chorus. Thanks for playing it!
You have indeed been Rick-Rolled. The skinny British Ginger who sings like a 40 year old black man! He is a treasure!
This song 🎵 makes you do a double take. It's hard to believe that that voice came outta that guy. It's amazing 👏 😍
