Hi there! Thanks for the kind feedback, the ZX5 is being replaced by a new version in January. I think it's a minor update so I don't think you'll get much in the way of benefit waiting for them and also may be more out of pocket, so I hope you enjoy your new clubs. 👍🏻👍🏻
I picked up my new ZX5 irons today. I used to have the P790's. The Srixons feel so much better. I didn't get a 5 iron in this model, but I got the 4 iron utility bent to a 5 iron loft and shaft shortened to the length for that iron. I love them and can't fault them at all.
It really does seem like Mizuno has done a great job with the 245s. I've watched just about every video you've done comparing them to other similar clubs from other manufacturers and they always seem to come out on top (even if only by a little bit). I'm really glad I saw these reviews as they helped me to narrow down the irons that I wanted to test. It's been said by many people but your work really is invaluable Jay. Thanks a lot.
It's more work within editing which is the last thing I need being honest but I do think it adds to the content so it's well worth the added editing time 👍🏻
Great video as always Jay! Like others, I really like the table to show the compare data for each shot! Any chance you're doing this for the 243 vs zx7?
Another great review . I have played both and the Srixon ZX-5 MKII lasted about a month due to me not getting along with the thick V-Sole. The turf interaction wasn't good for me. I think sole width and design is very important and what works varies from player to player. I prefer irons with thin-medium width with leading edge relief. I keep going back to my 2015 OnOff Kuro Irons .
Another great review Jay. I game a mkii ZX5 5 iron and find it has great feel too. C’mon mate it must be time for “The Big One” 243 v blueprint S!!!! 🙏🙏
I actually own both of these, just because I have two bags and didn't have to choose. I find the 245s slightly less confidence inspiring, and agree that they don't feel quite as nice. I dealt with that by using a UST graphite shaft of similar weight to the Tour Lites I have for the Srixon. A tad of lead tape to get the swing weight the same, and the feel is now very comparable. We'll see which one is sold in the fall to make way for something new and shiny. Great video!
Numbers are basically the same when you factor in the 1 degree loft difference. They figure roughly 2-3 yards per degree. You'll get that slightly higher speed from Mizuno and slightly higher spin from Srixon. Great job on the testing and keeping the numbers so close and consistent between the two. Really comes down to visual and brand preference.
True of almost all clubs from any manufacturer for a given loft and category of CG? I think almost every manufacturer makes a decent entry into each category, all down to looks or manufacturer fanboy nature after that.
I have to say i love my zx5 mk 2's. Watched all of Jay's videos, got custom fit for mizuno, p790 and zx5's and chose the zx5's. my iron play is considerably better than it was and i'm only 6 rounds in, so more to come hopefully, now to work on the chipping and putting lol.
The ZX5 irons are a great set. Really don't understand why more golfers don't have them on their list of irons to test when they are thinking about changing 🤷👍🏻
Hi Jay. I haven't been on the site or any for that matter for quite some time. I was wondering if you would be getting the new zxi5 Srixon irons in the near future. I was wondering if the new release is bring much to the table. Loved your PXG videos and Best of the year videos. Are you going to do an update with PXG included?
Howdy glad to have you back 👍 yes, I am on the list for samples of the Srixons, when they come is a good question, some manufacturers are better at communication than others. I'll do my normal heatmap testing to see how the new irons perform and also its individual Face Speed, Face Spin Rate and Launch Factor. Will also do the obligatory old vs new also 👍 As a Member you have access to the new website www.askgolfnut.com if you direct message me I'll give you your log in details so you can view the heat maps etc at will 👍
Great review as always Jay, I would love to see a comparison with the ZX5 and the JPX 923 forged, I think this is a better combination review, thanks 🏌️♂️⛳️😎
Every time I watch one of these I feel like i gain a lot of insight, followed by more questions. I am in the 85-90mph swing speed range, currently playing MP-67's which are just too unforgiving for the amount of golf I am playing these days. I am actually backing off on my swing speed to make sure I get the center of the club face, but that is bringing my yardages up short. So most likely the 245's are going to be a bit too hot for my swing speed. Does that mean that I would be looking at the 243's, or should I be looking for a mix set like 241 and 245.
Do you think the MP 243 is less forgiving that either of these? I'm not sure about that. I played the Gen 1 ZX5 and briefly the 225 and I don't recall a massive difference. Swap in the 243's impeccable topline and feel and it's a very tough decision.
I can't get past fugly. For the marginal difference, I'll pick the better-looking club. The question is, what is the difference in price ? Unless it is a dramatic difference, my choice is the mizuno P245.
That's exactly what I'm playing for my Mizuno set. 241s bent strong in 8,9, PW and then 7, 6, 5 in 245s. Now I just need Jay's control of path and face. 😆
@danielcohen3159 lessons, practice, lessons, practice...... Give up the job..... Lessons, practice...... Never see the family...... Lessons, practice and more practice 😊
@@AskGolfNut Love your stuff BTW. I really wanted the 245s as I watched the "luke donald' video but could not get it to work. Tried 6 shafts and launch was too low with no distance gain compared to my gamer ZX7. Tried the ZX5 and it was stellar. Didn't mishit many, so maybe 245 would be better with those ?
My swing speed with a 7-iron is 93-95mph. what irons do you recommend? I was hitting the 245,zx5,and i530 all over 185 yds carry. I'm left handed so the 243 is out of the question. Would the 245 delofted 2 degrees be suitable?
Depending on your lie requirements you could even go 3 deg weak on the Pro 245.... i530 will also go retro spec that will dial the distance back and gain back some gapping control 👍
If I had to choose which set to buy I'd personally go for the 245s but it all depends on what you are looking for. I don't need the Forgiveness necessarily so my choice would be based on looks and feel 👍
@@AskGolfNuti think I'm torn between a zx7 and 245. Would be interested in 243 but I'm LH. last question, I saw your comment on another video regarding weakening MP245 3 degrees weak. You mentioned it would affect lie and you'd only be able to bend them 2 degrees. Can you explain? I'd either get them bent 2 or 3 degrees
@@user-yt3cu3gj5j all irons have a bend capacity. So X amount of degrees, that can be done in either loft or lie as a combination of both. Say an iron has a 3 degree bend limit, that could be made up of 2 degrees loft change and 1 degree lie change etc etc 👍
DON'T Forget to LIKE and COMMENT Below and I will try to REPLY to as many as I possibly can 👍
That efficiency table in the bottom left is a game changer 👏👏👏 another great review Jay 🙌
Didn’t look at Pro 245, but review validates my choice of ZX5. 😊 Thanks for review.
I'm getting a set of ZX 5 and im very excited. Thanks for your honesty. I love the feel and look! Also... big fan 🎉

Was between these two. Srixion was a little more consistent and that made the difference for me. Both were great

mizuno vs wilson? 👀 also witb soon?
Love these videos, can you do a PXG 3017 T and see what it compares best to. Keep up the great content.
I'd love you but still haven't received word back from PXG yet to be able to get hold of media samples for reviewing 🤦👍🏻

Hello Jay? Are the 245s your ‘Mystery Option’ for WITB? I think they just might be…at least in a combo set with 241s in 8,9, and PW.
Will have to wait and see what it will be 😉😉👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

How do they compare in price?
Prices differ depending on where you are around the world, but in the UK the Srixons are cheaper 👍🏻
I had the exact opposite. ZX5 went higher, quicker, further and better descent angle.
Everyone's different that's the beauty of golf, so great if you found one that, works, best for your club head delivery 👍🏻👍🏻
