I saw Slater on Chris Long's utube show - he took a lot shots at Julian but in a good natured way, he said Julian was kissing TB12's butt, and was like an over eager beaver, etc. Also talked a lot about the back and forth between Amandola and JUlian. Worth watching.
This is definitely up there with the Ernie Adams episode. This is the shows for enjoying how special the players were on those “second dynasty” teams while Ernie Adams’ episode is how things worked & great coaching type knowledge. Both are amazing.
Man slater is so respectful and careful about his comments on anyone discussed, plus you can feel his intrigrity and straight up honesty Immediately I luv this guy! Please give us another episode with slater
@gameswithnamespod I admire his conviction, his leadership, morals, values, and most importantly, his faith. His legacy will burn forever in the echelon of Titletown. From the coast of California to Old Orchard Beach, Maine- no matter where you are from, we here in Boston make you one of ours. There really is no better sports city than Beantown. We LOVE our sports and our players, past and present. You guys will ALWAYS be one of ours.
I’ve been commenting that we need these guys from all six superbowl teams and all then guys like Welker and Moss, and put together a players-made documentary series on that team over the 20 years. Kraft just cares about making himself look good. F-cker had the balls to raise season ticket prices too
As a Bostonian, old enough to remember all the great 60s Celtics teams, late 60s Bruins teams, the pride filled 2x loser Pats teams pre-2001, and the 2004 Sox teams. We can never, as geographic bragging rights sport fans ever express our gratitude to the likes of Jules, and Mathew. They were part of a slice of history in our appreciation as hometown pride . Bird, Russell, Yaz, Big Papi, Orr, Esposito, in the annals of our fan appreciation of sports history will always be remembered, Brady, & Belichicks names will always go down in appreciation as Edelman, Slater, and all the other players, coaches, players, and organizations that made our little neck of the planet so happy in rooting for, for all these years
I agree mostly, but you left out Fisk, Tek, Pedro, Clemens, Rice, Gostkowski, Vinatieri, and all the other players not as memorable, but still all time greats in the same category as Slate and Jules to everyone not Boston& used Yaz, Papi, Bird& the most common Boston names out there.
I've "only" been in the area since 1972. You've seen LOTS more! But the PATS were certainly awesome; it was a dynasty. I have to say: today, these are NOT your OLDER BROTHER'S Patriots (because...it wasn't THAT long ago...). Good of you to mention the others!
It’s crazy how similar these two are, just their mannerisms and they way they talk, u can tell they’ve spent a lot of time together. Top notch content.
Ugh. Love these guys. Created some MEMORIES! As a pats fan... Just couldn't ask for a better episode. You guys don't need this, but I hope everyone in this pod knows that this is SO appreciated
As a Patriots fan since 1985, my first sports love and heartbreak, this show has been wonderful to watch. Thank you Julian for the great years of play and now bringing the great stories to us.
jules, you need to have The Rev back for a whole series of going through you're entire career together, I'm serious, you need to bring Rev back and just talk about coaches, players, games, the highs and the lows from yalls perspective, begging u man this is the kind of content that we need from pats players post BB and TB. the team is the team but this is amazing stuff between u and Slate. all love man!
MY GOD WHAT A GREAT PLEASURE TO LISTEN TO THESE TWO GUYS TALK… I now have a much greater understanding and appreciation of the team I love so much. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 LETS GO PATS!!!
I’ve always watched the shorts of this show. Especially the ones on the Belichick impression. This was the first episode I’ve watched and I was not disappointed. JE is very organic and is great host. Matthew Slater is that guy!! Always appreciate someone willing to ball out on special teams. Slate is very selfless and humble. Guy I would love to meet in person!
This was definitely top 3 of my favorite guests you've had, probably the best one. Love Slater and the person he is, and it was special to see your connection with each other.
Slate had weekly appearances on a local sports talk station. He was professional and supportive of the team and coaches, but spoke "Patriot". It's great to hear him in this environment. Great podcast as usual. You're definitely producing an authentic Dynasty.
State of the Union segment is so legit! Definition of leaders venting to one another. It’s needed mentally for all players to communicate the good, bad, and the ugly. Two beasts of the greatest dynasty in my lifetime. 20 years of greatness.
When Matthew mentioned meetings with Joe Judge Jr., I smiled. I played with his father the late great Joe Judge Sr at Temple University in 1973. He took this young 18 year old under his wing an made me grow the fuck up. He was fun. Him and Rod Smith(another great guy who took me under his wing) came an visited me when I transfered to Kutztown University. It was the time of streaking. Needless to say, oh boy, what fun! I miss him an smile when I think of him.
Matthew Slater, you are a class act, articulate, intelligent, funny, and a joy to listen to your stories. Patriots had an amazing roster. Jules, you are hilarious and we share the same hometown! Carry on . Love the podcast.
These young ppl don’t know how good they got it. I wish we had stuff like this to watch growing up. It would not only i’ve been super interesting and entertaining. It gives you so much insight into being and what it takes to be a professional football player.
I love the 25 year run of the Pats starting with Drew, one of my top ten ALL TIME patriots I would love to meet is this great man right here...Matthew Slater, one of the best friends, pal, buddy... a guy could have.... And beloved by teammates and fans...!!! He's truly one of the best humans I'd love to meet and glad I got to watch him every week. Great show, one of the greatest Patriot's all time..!!
Slate is a CLASS ACT BOSS! A great football player, a great teammate, a great motivator, a great speaker, and a great Christian too. What a role model on so many levels.
I so love this show... especially Julian using a Wynn cup as a spit cup... perfect poetic adjective to what betting is... a cesspool that is a spit cup... take that cash and run with it Jules...
I am a 3 years retired elementary school teacher. I can't tell you how much I can relate to your experiences: dealing with a younger generation of teachers, fraterrnizing with colleagues, leaving a job behind that you loved, and finding a new routine.
I vividly remember that 2018 season. the losses were memorable, the wins were memorable and that AFC title game is LEGENDARY. OT win in Arrowhead against a Chiefs team that was undeniable.
Jules I have a pic of you from super bowl 53 on my wall in the living room. You can barely see the ram defender. You were so open. That picture amps me up everyday. I go through life like you tore up the rams secondary. Absolutely unstoppable. Thank you, for being you.
BUSINESS IDEA FOR NEXT SEASON - I would LOVE if these two could do a podcast together especially to look ahead to that weeks game and to discuss and recap the previous game. Two GOAT Patriots life timers. We need more of these two!!
I literally can’t get enough of these two, such an enjoyable podcast and adding the other work wife McCourty would be awesome lol so a podcast for you three
best epsode yet two of my favorite patriots best teamer off all time dont take my word for it ask bill slate is an amazing human being thank you for this god bless enjoy retirement bub❤
Love this episode! And love Slate and Jules together! This brings back so many memories of getting up at 1 or 3AM to watch the games (I’m a Pats fan living in South East Asia where it’s 12 hours time difference) 👍🏻
Your candid and open discussion of your time playing together brings me there and I can vicariously live through you the exhilaration, fun and love of it all. Keep going Jules… future HOFer 👊
This is one of the BETTER Games with Names interview! But...heck, there are PLENTY more! Ernie Adams was great, Drew Bledsoe...GRONK (he can be entertaining in ANY context anyway!). Well, I gotta conclude: this show is PRIMO. Keep it up!
Slater was THE GUY that made younger athletes me included (when I was still playing) look at special teams differently and play special teams with the same intensity u would on offense or defense, and for that thank you slatter for making people not give up on the sport just because they were on special teams
Matthew Slater is without a doubt a future Hall of Famer. He really belongs in there with his father Jackie! He's definitely going into the Patriots Hall, but I know that Canton will call his name sometime soon!
@@AJFar-tm7dn and I know how important family faith and hard work/respect is important with Matthew Slater, his father and the whole family so it would be incredible to see Matthew in the Hall of Fame being inducted into that prestigious place by his father! they see that as a New England Patriots fan first but also a proud NFL fan second as well so that’s really cool just thinking about that prospect of the inevitability with both of their Hall of Fame resumes. Definitely getting in there.
The amount of love you can feel this team had for each other. Great fucking show. As a football fan & especially a pats fan. Thank you Also the context w/ Wes is gold.
So cool to hear from Slate. Hugely underappreciated and underrated part of the Dynasty. Consummate professional who set the tone and expectation. He made Special Teams cool, and it was always such a big part of Patriots wins.
Keep up the great work JE11 & crew. Slater, thanks for all the great years on the field, IMO, the 🐐 teamer. Come back soon for another episode. GO PATS!!!!!!!! 😎👍👍
Gronk, Dola, Tedy, now SLATE?! What other members of the Patriots dynasty should we have on?⬇
Bill!
Tom brady and Chris hogan are who I want to see
Vrabel
Gotta get Coach Belichick or Tom for that live Boston episode!!
Gotta have McCourty.
Slater should be the co host, this is the best episode, the chemistry between you guys is awesome.
Amazing chemistry. I was thinking the same
I saw Slater on Chris Long's utube show - he took a lot shots at Julian but in a good natured way, he said Julian was kissing TB12's butt, and was like an over eager beaver, etc. Also talked a lot about the back and forth between Amandola and JUlian. Worth watching.

Well, Julian was his work wife.
Julian: Batman doesn’t say he is Batman.
The most famous line from any Batman movie: I'm Batman.
Julian Edelman is lucky to have a friend like Matthew Slater
We all need a Slate in our life

Vice-Versa
I now understand how Slater was the Captain for all those years. A leader, teammate and a gentleman.
A man of God
Absolutely correct...I see and hear it clearly now...great episode
There's nothing about this video that would show any reason to why he was a captain. But his highlights might
Best one yet. You can literally see there friendship show through on the camera. So much respect for Slate.
Bros for life
Slate has the most “decorated officer” vibe of any professional athlete, I have ever seen.
Wow that was a great metaphor i totally get what you mean. He’s deff a class act and the prototype of an excellent team captain
The voice really nails it haha
I get sgtmaj vibes from him
Exactly...easy to notice his fairness and carefulness with each of his comments, yet staying with the truth of his beliefs all along...luv it
These episodes are like the player's version of "the Dynasty"
He should just do his own version of it and air episodes on TH-cam. #playersedition

It's like the truth
We are such a spoiled fanbase its crazy man. Amazing Dynasty and then they all retire an make amazing content together. just nuts.
@@OrlandoS-z2dit was the same guys saying what they said in the doc. What they focused on doesn’t make the stories less true
I love when the Patriots legends are on the show. Keep it up Jewels.
Ong these are the best episodes and I’m a bills fan… just super jealous of yalls culture 🥲😂
Matt’s got a coach voice. Can’t describe it
Oh you already know he would make such a good coach
he literally sounds like jule's impression of belichick sometimes.
His cadence is belichick esque
💯
It’s the 20+ years of screaming

Bob and Jonathan’s documentary flopped
The book was very good.
Kraft productions hit piece on Bill. I'll never look at Kraft the same. What a load of shit.
I enjoyed the doc 🤷♀️I also understand why maybe some people didn’t. It is what it is.
